My Bloodymary x reader teacher au but instead of being a science teacher youāre one of the arts teachers. I think it would be cute.
One of your students is also one of Simonās or Grace and they always forget their choir books and they always go down to your class to give them the book but itās really just an excuse to see you.
Your apartment is full of different art projects that your students donāt take back once theyāre graded but you never have the heart to throw away, so it serves as decor. Grace and Simon like it though.
Grace and Simon always have the poster for the school plays pinned somewhere in the classroom because they know just how hard you and the kids have been working on rehearsing.

Summary: Simon had a lot of questions about things ask a kid that he wouldnāt get answered when he was older.
Warnings: Gender neutral reader (as in no gender specific pronouns, features, gender identity, or anatomy). I think thereās like one use of name place holders. There could be more idk. A LOT of religious and biblical references like talk of heaven and angels. Canon does not exist here. Itās my fic, I get to choose whatās canon here. Rocky and Adrian are also here. You can decide if itās BloodyMary on the rocks x reader too or not.
Authorās Snip: I donāt give a FUCK about canon. I threw canon in the Iron Lung and sent it to the blood ocean. I yeeted that bitch into the astrophage. This is solely vibes. This fic is an x reader for a crackship we made to make Markiplier and Ryan Gosling kiss each other. We were arguably moving more heinously back in the 2010s with the ancient texts (if you know you know). Donāt worry about the canon. She was never fucking invited. I listened to Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awakening and RAN with this thought like a dog with forbidden food in its mouth. You can either run with me or get out of the way.
Iāll shut up now. Enjoy! And donāt be afraid to request. Reblogs appreciated but no pressure.

āMama, what do angels look like?ā a little Simon asks.
Caught off guard by the question, she asks what he means. āAre they friendly or are they scary? Some people say they look scary.ā he clarifies.
She thinks for a moment before answering, āThey can be, if you donāt know what youāre looking at.ā.
Simon backs himself into the corner of the stale white room as you and Grace try to calm him down. He wasnāt supposed to wake up this quick or have this much strength, you were slowly weaning him off the anesthesia to allow him to wake up properly, yes, but you were hoping that you could help him come off it. So much for calculations. He yells at you to stay away from him, screaming about the C.O.I., the eel, and demanding to know where he is. The loud beeping of the machines trying to alert that they canāt find his vitals because he somehow managed to get them off in his attempt to escape. You and Grace actually thought he was crashing only to finds him stumbling around frightened.
Grace holds his hands up in a nonthreatening manner to show he means no ill will, āHey, itās all cool! Youāre fine! Weāre all fine here!ā. Grace takes a step closer but that only leads Simon to push closer to the wall and scream āGet away from me!ā as he tries to block his body with his remaining arm. You hold back Grace from getting any closer as you try to speak.
āYouāre bleeding. You must have torn out your catheter. I need to patch that up or youāll bleed out. I donāt want you to get hurt again.ā you softly say.
Simon quickly glances down at his arm before looking back at the two of you and drawing his arm close to his body to contain the bleeding himself. He pants for a bit before asking āWhat the hell do you want from me?ā.
āWe just want to help you.ā you respond.
āThey only look scary to the people who are bad. The evil will always be scared of the good. But if you are good, then they stop looking scary. Then they look pretty and start helping you. Thatās all the angels ever want to do. Help the good. But when I go, Iāll send you the prettiest and friendly angels I can find so youāre not scared.ā
It was a rough start for Simon. Still reeling from the Iron Lung and the effects of the eel, believing that he was abandoned at the bottom of the blood ocean only to find himself heading to an alien planet with two strangers, technically four when he found it the walking rocks was one of said aliens. At least that's what you told him. You and Grace managed to convince him to help cover up his catheter wound and talk it out. Itās been three weeks since then. Simon still doesnāt like having any of you near him, opting to be left alone. Half because heās still distrustful, the other being because he still canāt quite grasp where exactly he is. He prefers to tend to himself so that you canāt stick him with anything or catch him by surprise. You allow him that privacy. Giving him what he needs to heal himself and letting him do it on his own. But he struggles with just one thing. Changing his bandages.
Simonās come up with some pretty nifty ways to try and get around it. Using his teeth to hold the roll of gaws, but it's still a hassle. Thatās why heās sitting on the medical bed brooding after heās admitted defeat and lets you look his amputated arm over.
Youāre very gentle as you peel away the tape and fabric, barely touching his shoulder as you keep him steady while you lift to inspect the scarring tissue. The skin is still very tender that even your soft breath is felt, which you know, so you keep from touching it and only hold onto the unaffected skin. You hum in thought for a bit before breaking the silence.
āYouāre healing very well,ā you state. āBut I think we should keep the stitches a little longer. The new tissue is still too thin for my liking. Wouldnāt want to risk it tearing and reopening the wound.ā you say as you prep to clean the area to be rewrapped. You take a cotton ball, coat it in disinfecting alcohol, all within sight of Simon so he can see exactly what youāre doing before you offer it to him so that he can do it.
Simon takes it and begins wiping the lines of scaring flesh. Hissing and cursing under his breath from the burn and pain of the contact. Without thinking, you reach out to take the cotton ball only to stop when Simon flinches and draws back, looking at you with a fraction of that scared look he had on his face when he first woke up. āSorry,ā you apologize before explaining, āItās just that youāre meant to dab it, not wipe. Wiping causes more irritation.ā before offering to help. Simon sits there reluctantly before placing the ball back into your hand and extending his arm. Again, you take a hold of it, your touch feather light, as you dab along the scars at a pace that allows the stinging to stop at the previous spot before moving to the next.
Once youāve gone over every part, you take your gaws and start the rebandaging process, letting Simon hold the beginning end so that it doesnāt slip when you first start pulling the fabric taught to securely wrap the area. This quiet is uncomfortable for Simon. He feels like there should be something filling it, but unlike Grace, you donāt tend to try and make small talk or ramble. Heās learned that you can. But you choose not to. You choose to let him have his silence unless you have a medical question to ask.
āHow are you feeling?ā you ask. That question catches Simon off guard. Youāve never asked that one before. He stammers to answer. āUh⦠Iām fineā¦? You?ā he says. You pause and look away from your work just shy of the last spin around the limb like you werenāt expecting him to answer with that before you realize what he meant. āOh, Iām okay. Grace and Rocky are driving each other nuts again but it's the same routine for me and Adrian as always.ā you answer because you clarify what you truly meant. āI meant how do you feel. Are you too warm? Does your throat feel sore? Is your appetite good? Do you feel like youāre coming down with something?ā you question.
āOh!ā Simon exclaims, āNo⦠No, Iām fine. I mean, I guess I get a little cold sometimes. But thatās probably just because of the ship or something.ā he states before trying to backtrack, but he stops when he feels you touch his forehead with your hand.
āYou are a little warm.ā you comment as you move to use both your hands to check the warmth of his temples and face.
āWhy are you helping me?ā Simon abruptly asks.
You pause for a moment, letting a few beats go past before you answer him.
āBecause we want to make sure youāre okay so we can bring you back to Erid with us.ā
āWill they help me?ā Little Simon asks.
āOf course,ā his mother says, āTheyāll help you and everyone with anything you need help with, and take you wherever you need to go.ā.
āWhy are you taking me with you?ā Simon asks randomly over a game of Uno that you and Grace found on the Hail Mary ages ago and brought along to start entertaining for this expedition.
āSimon was dying in damaged vessel. Needed to save. We bring Simon back with us to keep safe.ā Adrian says. āErid have biodome for Grace and (Name) where Simon can live too. Really good. Have everything humans need to live.ā Rocky explains as he places down his card, skipping Graceās turn⦠again. āWhat?! How many of those do you even have, bud?ā Grace questions. āRocky saves just for Grace.ā Rocky answers bluntly before letting out a little laugh that everyone but Simon joins in on.
āBut why?ā Simon asks.
You all pause, confused by his question again. āBecause we couldnāt just leave you in there, Sy.ā Grace says.
āYou donāt know why I was down thereā¦ā Simon retorts coldly.
āIt doesnāt matter why you were down there. You were hurt. You needed our help.ā the blonde counters.
āPlus⦠it would be better to bring you and your stuff back and figure everything out how to really help you out when we get back home.ā you explain. āWe can find a way to take you back if thatās what you want.ā you offer before Simon suddenly interrupts with a very worried, even scared, āNo!ā before realizing it came out. āI-I mean⦠no. Itās fine. Iām okay with coming back to⦠your place⦠with youā¦ā Simon clarifies.
āā¦Thanks.ā he whispers.
āItās really no problem.ā Grace smiles.
āWill they bring back the stars?ā Little Simon asks quietly.
āThey will show you all the stars and things that theyāve made to save us while they take you to heaven.ā
Simon stared up through the viewing window so mesmerized by the sight that he didnāt care that the back of his neck was beginning to grow sore. There were dozens- No! Millions⦠billions⦠trillions of stars, like tiny pin holes poked into the blanket of pure black. They shine and twinkle like theyāre staring in awe back at him. He barely blinks. Some part of him worries that if he does it too much they will go out and disappear again one by one like they did before. Like his eyelashes are somehow powerful enough to blow out the celestial bodies like a simple candle.
He has completely forgotten that you and Grace are standing next to him until Grace speaks up. āIf you stay like that you're gonna be stuck like that forever.ā he jokes.
āYou saved all of these?ā Simon whispers out, more like heās asking himself than you. But you can see the tears welding in his eyes and fighting against the scrunching of his face. You reach out your hand and bring his head back to a neutral position, both to help spare him the soreness later and half to show him that thereās more stars no matter where he looks. However, that leads the tears to make their descent down his face so you gently wipe them away as Grace speaks up again. āSome of them, yeah. Mostly the ones along a specific line but, you know, if anyone else comes calling about star problems we can help with those too-ā Grace tries to brag before you swat his back to tell him to knock it off and now is not the time. He clears his throat with a ārightā before correcting his tone.
āIt took a lot of tears, doubts, and time⦠and crazy lot of hope, but⦠we managed to do it! And Iād say we did pretty good! Donāt you?ā he asks as he looks between the stars and Simon, seeking out the approval of the man who thought heād never see such a thing.
āYou really worked a miracle.ā Simon nods as he smiles.
āJust wait till you see the gardens weāve got back on Erid.ā you tell the man.
Simon looks straight to you in surprise at your comment. āYou have more of those?ā he asks, referring to the plants that you have on board. āLots more.ā you nod. āThe Eridians in charge of the dome have managed to make a lot of things since we told them about what we have back on earth. Some of them are weird but theyāre got the spirit.ā you explain.
āYouāll see. Weāll show you once you get all settled in. Promise.ā Grace pats Simonās shoulder.
āIs heaven a pretty place?ā
It was beautiful. Clear. Bright. Warm. Lush. Green, grey, and blue. Alive. It was almost blinding to see. Like a blind man being given back his sight after having to live somewhere devoid until he forgot that he had the ability to see in the first place. Something he forgot about till it was returned to him.
There was the happy chirping cheers of Eridians happy to see you all back with your new friend. Like happy joyful music. A chaotic symphony that had no true rhythm or direction but somehow managed to reverberate through a sad rugged soul and washed all the heaviness away, like a flow of water cleaning the dirt off of labor beaten hands. Maybe not enough to wash away its scars, but instead allowing them the ability to heal at long last.
The free air makes him feel light enough to float. It feels like he could just start floating from how weightless he felt. It took off weight that Simon hadnāt been free of in a long time and weight that he never knew he was carrying till it was finally shed off like the old shell of a bug. The suffocating chrysalis that keeps caterpillar prisoner till itās time for it to come out changed. Simon always assumed that his change if he were to be freed would be for the worse. Itās not.
Itās a cleansing kind. The kind that comes from seeing the sun after a long dark night. The clarity of sickness from your bones. The one you feel when the dirt and sins of your soul is washed off in a river. A change that comes only from seeing God and they tell you exactly where you are without having to say it. You just feel it.
ā ļøā ļøChanges may occur in the future, either because the game features the official designs/stories of certain characters or because I will reuse the designs on other characters.ā ļøā ļø
Summary: After barely surviving an alien that took over your space crewās bodies and turned them into grotesque monsters, you find yourself being rescued by more friendly rock-looking aliens who take care of you and tell you that youāll have a fellow human companion once they know youāre okay. But in order to know that, you have to make friends with another, less conventional looking, one first.
Warnings: Gender neutral reader (as in there is no mention or specific gender, gendered pronouns, or anatomy). Mentions and description of violence, death, murder, and body horror, and the reader having witnessed it first hand. Reader has survivorās guilt. Possibly ooc Simon near the end. Some use of āinsert name hereā abbreviations but thats because of how the Eridians talk, I swear its not the cringe kind. Simon and reader trauma dumping. Simon and reader needing therapy. We slow burning up in those bitch.
Authorās Snip: This was supposed to be based off of this idea I had where another fic inspired me, but the Simon portion of this was getting really long and Iām a little rusty with my fic writing so I wanted to be done with it. I will make a part 2 eventually if you guys really like it. But yeah this was supposed to be Bloodymary x reader but itās just straight up a Simon x reader slow burn right now.
Notes: The reader is meant to be an homage/reference/based off of John Carpenterās 1982 film The Thing but instead of it taking place in Antarctica it takes place on a ship like in the first Alien film. Just so nobody gets confused :)
Iāll shut up now. Enjoy! And donāt be afraid to request. Reblogs appreciated but no pressure.
It was awful. Horrible. A living nightmare. It all started when your crew found a lost spacecraft that went radio silent and shut off its tracking system a while back. It was a research and lab vessel, just like yours. It was weird. The second to last message sent was a rudimentary recap of its findings, claiming that they found āsomethingā that they were unable to fully describe, but were currently evaluating it. Then the very last one was a panicked distress signal. The person sending it wasnāt making any sense. They just kept saying āThis thing is killing us. This thing is taking us!ā before it abruptly ended and went dark. You werenāt there to retrieve it. The protocol was just that all space vessels were to become recovery vessels upon discovering a distressed or lost one, so contact was made. It was an odd find. There was only one dead crew member found out of the supposed nine near the command board, a researcher. But it was reported that the ship's incinerator seemed to be hot from having been used. Your medic took the body in for an autopsy and your captain ordered that all data and logs be taken in for analysis to see what happened. Thatās when all hell broke loose and things turned to shit. Once that Thing made itself known and started running rampant no one was to be trusted. Anyone could be infected and you would have no clue until they deformed into something grotesque and tried biting your head off. After a few run ins and deaths, your captain went crazy with paranoia. Maybe you all went crazy.
But crazy is what kept you alive in the end. You managed to find the true final log from the lost ship that failed to send. It was of the researcher begging that if anyone finds the ship to not approach and just destroy it, that they would have set it to self destruct but that they had no time to do it because it was too late. But they said that if it does find you, you have one saving grace. Burn it. If youāre uninfected, escape alone and burn everything. Thatās how you ended up in an escape pod watching your ship self-destruct as you drift off into the void of space. You didnāt know where you were drifting off to, for how long, if you would survive to make it there, or if you really were the last human on your ship, but what you did know was that you were safe from whatever the fuck that Thing was.
You were on the brink of dying of starvation when the Eridians found your pod. You thought you were having some sort of weird death hallucination before you passed out thinking that it was the end for you. It wasnāt. You woke up later in what seemed like a hospital bed surrounded by these rock-crab-aliens in strange hamster balls with a translator that spoke to you in robotic voices. You were pretty sure the absurdity of the situation kept you from freaking out.
āDo not be afraid. Are helping human. Statement.ā one of them said. āWill make human better. Then introduce to human Simon to see if both can meet Grace. Grace also human. Statement. But first make healthy.ā they added.
The eridians were very friendly. Not at all like the horror you had previously experienced on your late ship. They whistled and made chirping noises that seemed to be their home language. They didnāt prob or dissect you like you thought they might. Instead, they would come to your room, give you food that actually seemed very human, and ask you questions about where you came from, and how you were feeling. Sort of like medical observation. They even let you ask questions too, though you never knew where to start. You asked about who Grace was only for them to say that he and an eridian named Rocky āsaved the starsā and lived here on Erid. But when you asked if you could meet him, they simple said āUnsure if (name) will be friendly to Grace. Grace every important. Want (name) to meet Simon first.ā. But when you asked who Simon was they said āSimon found just like (name). Eridians save and take care of Simon too. Will meet Simon soon.ā.
ā¦
⦠Your first interaction with Simon wasnāt the best first impression. You told the Erindians taking care of you about your ship and what happened. You didnāt tell them every detail, but you did explain that something happened where it deformed your crew mates and made them dangerous. And although the Eridians did acknowledge Simonās mutations, they found that he didnāt seem to react dangerously once he got used to his new situation nor hostile when he was informed that there was another human that they wanted him to meet. So yes, Simon was mutated to some degree, but he wasnāt dangerous, therefore you would be fine. But when you didnāt know that. The first thing you saw was a human with half of his face lined with sharp teeth and an eye that looked something you saw on one of The Thingās forms, and that immediately triggered your fight or flight response and had you screaming bloody murder āBURN IT! BURN IT! YOU NEED TO BURN IT!ā till they had to herd you away and calm you down.
It took a few days and a xenoplate divider separating you, for your reassurance, to get you to try that again. You both sat against the farthest wall from each other, stealing cautious glances at each other with an air that was thick with tension. It said that one of you wanted to say something but didnāt want to be the one to start it. It felt weird. Like you were two feral cats having a stand off all puffed up. It wouldnāt be until you two actually looked eyes with each other that something seemed to⦠click? You donāt know what it was but despite his alert stare burning into you, and yours on him, you saw eyes that have seen horror, just like yours.
Thatās when your body moves on its own. You unfold from sitting with your knees pressed to your chest to a slow crawl that brings you closer till youāre right against the alien glass, all while keeping that eye contact and occasionally surveying his face. Simon stays where heās seated, eyes never leaving yours. Thereās a few beats before you finally speak.
āWhat happened to your face?ā
It came out with the same bluntness that only a child can deliver even though you were a fully grown adult who should know manners. It wasnāt supposed to be mean. It was a genuine question.
āRadiation.ā he answers.
You scoff in disbelief, āIāve never seen radiation do all that to somebody.ā.
āYou donāt know where Iāve been.ā he remarks before asking you a question, āWhat happened to you?ā.
āMy ship got overrun by an alien that infects people and then mimics them before deforming them and trying to kill us,ā you answer. āIt flipped everyoneās insides out and made their heads grow spider legs and crawl around in the vents till it finds a new body. I was the only one left. I had to blow the ship up.ā you add. For some reason it felt important to let him know the horrors you witnessed, but at least it earned you the right to know his.
āIām a convict that they sent into a blood ocean to find a way to save the stars with no real way out for me. I found a monster that busted my sub open and taunted me the entire trip! I lost my arm and the radiation mashed my DNA with the fucking thing!ā Simon explains as he gets up onto his knees and quickly crawls closer to you, almost trying to size you and your story up. āIt segmented our cook by his joints and bent them backwards and walked on all fours! It grew a spike through our captainās head when he was getting ready to shoot it because he could tell who was human and who wasnāt anymore! I was next in line to get my brains blasted out!ā you rebuttal with a yell.
āI was sent down there to die!ā Simon shouts.
āI donāt know if I really was the last human left on my ship! I just set it up to blow up and took the first escape pod out! I keep having nightmares that someone was still left and I could have taken them with me! But I justā¦ā a sob lodges itself in your throat before you can finish your sentence. Your eyes weld up with tears and you just lose it. But you donāt need to try and regain yourself in order to cap off what you were trying to say before Simon finishes it for you.
āYou just wanted to live.ā he states.
āI did!ā you wail.
āIāve been there.ā he nods.
Interacting after that takes a very promising turn. You exchange stories about your worlds. Simon tells you about Eden, what it was like, the Iron Lung, The Eel, the quiet rapture, the stars going out. You donāt really know what heās talking about when he says the stars are dying one by one. As far as you knew the stars were perfectly fine and The Thing was the only terrifying thing out there. Simon does eventually tell you how he ended up in his situation and how he became a convict. You feel like you canāt really judge him too hard though. You signed anyone who might have still been alive and a human their death warrant when you took the escape pod. Yeah, maybe you it wasnāt the same as the things he got locked up for and did, but youāre the same amount of haunted by it as him.
The divider between the two of you was removed once the Eridians saw you two getting along. You were allowed free range of a much smaller biodome. They said it was to let you get used to the type of range youād have in the main one where Grace is. You and Simon never really gave the mentions of Grace much thought even when Rocky and Adrian, the two Eridians closest to Grace, came by to meet you. The one named Adrian explained that Grace had already heard about you and Simon when you were first rescued and was more than happy to have some fellow humans around but that it was important for you and Simon to acclimate to Erid before meeting them. But Rocky then budded in saying that they also wanted to make sure you and Simon werenāt hostile. You heard about that a few times during the beginning of your stay but never fully noticed how weird that sounded.
āDo they think weāll attack him? Like assassinate him or something?ā you question one day, looking up at Simon, who you were previously leaning on while you watched the artificial sky. āMaybe. I am a convict with a history.ā he shrugs, āHe doesnāt seem like he's with C. O. I. though. His name doesnāt ring a bell for me.ā he adds. āMe neither.ā you remark. Simon chuffs before nudging you. āMaybe they think youāre actually your little mimic alien thing playing the long game. How exactly do you know you werenāt infected?ā he teases. You laugh and give him a playful little push. āOh, shut up! I just know okay! And even if I was secretly it, I wouldnāt wait this long just to go after some guy Iāve never heard of. Iād⦠go⦠after⦠YOU!ā you shout out at the end, curling your hands into a jaw shape over your mouth, making stupid fake monster noises as you, and gently lunging towards Simon.
Simon lifts up his arm to block your āattackā while you make your fake hand jaws chomp down on it, which is just you opening and closing it and going āOm-nom-nomā while you both laugh. You catch your breath and just blurt out āDude you should have seen it. One of my crewās heads just opened up like a flower and it was just teeth inside. It was nasty!ā as you return to your place leaning on him and Simon responds with a casual āYou should have seen The Eel. Those eyes are burned into the back of my eyelids.ā.
āI wonder what horrors that Grace guy is going to tell us about when we meet him.ā you say just before you both hear the sound of five legs approaching you two.
Read this bloodymary x reader fic by @jamesdeanbby where reader is also from Eden but their ship go fucked up by xenomorphs and they are the only survivor and DEEPLY traumatized. And the interactions between reader and Simon where so interesting to me but it got me thinking my own thoughts. Most of my Bloody Mary posts have been of Grace and reader already have an established dynamic and Simon is added in but what if I did it the other way around.
Like what if you have your own thing where you were sent off to space, experienced horrors beyond your comprehension and get traumatized, got found by the eridians and are taken care of, and Simon is there too. The plan is to assess you both and then release you into the biodome with Grace so he can have some fellow human companions as like a āWeāre getting our human some humans so heās not lonelyā thing. But they also donāt want to run the risk of one of you being violent towards him so they see how you and Simon react to each other. Itās a little tricky at first because youāre both scared of each other but something happens where the traumatized look in your eyes let you know āOh weāve both been through some shitā. And so you two just sort of cohabitate until you two become really close and talk about your respective horrors.
But the eridians see that and are like āOh good, they arenāt trying to kill each other and are being friendly. That means they can meet Grace!ā and put you in the biodome. But like⦠Grace has a different flavor of trauma than you and Simon so itās awkward.
Basically you and Simon are like two former-feral cat rescues who became bonded and donāt know what to do when youāre re-homed in a place where thereās an overly friendly golden retriever that wants to befriend you but like⦠is kind of a lot for you both right now. Did that analogy make any sense?

Iām bored, have some miscellaneous Bloodymary x reader hc (mostly Simon and sleep centric) (some Bloody Mary on the rocks x reader too if you squint)
Simon becomes a regular napper after a while of living in the biodome and being with you and Grace. Once he accepts this as his regular life now he feels safe and secure enough that his body allows him to truly relax. Heāll usually have a nap between working on the gardens to get some of his energy back, when the three of you are relaxing together, and just whenever he has nothing better to do. He usually does it in the same room as either you and Grace, or Rocky and Adrian when theyāre around. You and Grace because he finds the quiet sound of you working relaxing. Rocky and Adrian, mostly because of the whole āyou need someone watching you while you sleepā thing but Simon finds that Rocky and Adrian are very comfortable to nap on.
Ryland has to ask permission from Simon to take samples from the plants for study. Simon has become a fiercely protective plant dad. When Ryland asks for a sample, Simon will look over the plant and point out ideal parts that Grace can take. He also prefers to be the one to harvest the crops because he knows when theyāre ready. Yes, he talks to the plants and he uses a very gentle fatherly voice with them. He doesnāt do it around anyone because he knows itās stupid and when you and Grace caught him doing it he was super embarrassed.
Simon has āinterestingā sleeping habits that are caused by his time as a convict. Simon can nap-sleep anywhere just fine but when itās actually time to go to bed, he can only fall asleep if the room is super dark because the facility he was being held at would most likely do ālights outā when the inmate curfew comes. Simon also wakes up super early because of his prisonās scheduling protocols too. He tries to sleep in but he just canāt help it. His brainās just gotten so used to it that he just accepts it and either gets up to start his day or lays there with you and Grace while you continue to sleep. Simon also doesnāt move much in his sleep because his bed back in his cell would have probably been tiny and heās a big dude so he wouldnāt have a whole bunch of space for tossing and turning. It doesnāt matter if the Eridians gave you a california king sized bed, he just lies still and only shifts slightly to keep away from bed sores. He does open up in his sleep a bit more later on but not a whole lot. You would think heās a corpse if it werenāt for his snoring.
You guys have your sides on the bed, and by sides I mean formation. Itās you and Grace on the sides and Simon in the middle. He likes to be held. This is canon Mark said so. Though you guys do swap places being the middle sometimes. Itās mostly between you and Simon. Grace doesnāt like it too much because it makes him feel trapped and occasionally reminds him of when he was forced on the Hail Mary. He always preferred to be big spoon anyways.
Iām so sorry if you are a light sleeper because both these men snore. Rylandās is more nasally and so itās lite on the noise. But Simonās resonates in his chest so itās really loud. You can definitely get Rocky and Adrian to make you some ear plugs or something but still.
Okay everybody! Iām all done with this semester and about to pop the fuck off on my Bloodymary x reader teacher au.
I already established in my original post that you and Grace are married, that you teach another form of science, and your classrooms are right next to each other. Like you have those joining doors that classrooms have right next to each other.
You two are sort of the schoolās power couple. Everyone on the staff knows that you two are married even if you two might have kept your last names. not like you two are PDA in front of everybody, of course not! You two are just so married that everybody within visionary of you can look at you two together and be like āYeah. these two are married.ā. It does take your students a minute to realize that sometimes though. I do like to think that you two will pop into each otherās classrooms to ask a question or get a second opinion if you think the other would have more insight on a certain subject or maybe even have a playful rivalry between your classes where you try to see whoās classes gets better grades. (In high school there were two teachers like that where they were married and would do that. Granted they taught different subjects (math and history) but you get it.) I feel like you and Grace would do that. All that to say that they can see that you two are very close and maybe even ship you two together till one day they get such a casual answer. Like one of them notices his wedding ring and asks if heās married, then jokingly ask if itās you, and then be shocked when he says yes and youāve been married this whole time. It happens every school year.
Anyways! Simon! In this au Simon is a former engineer and marine biologist, best known for discovering a new species of deep sea eel (wink), turned teacher after an incident on his last expedition where he was solo and his submarine failed, resulting in him losing his arm and some burns that went up his lost arm to his face. He managed to get good graft work done on his face that you can barely notice it. He can still see out of the effected eye even though it looks foggy. He just wears a custom contact that makes it look perfectly fine. Unless you saw him putting it in or taking it out, youād never know. But the burn scars are more obvious on his neck, shoulder, and overall side of his body. His clothes normally cover it up though say for the skin peaking out of his shirt collars. The only noticeable thing is his prosthetic arm.
Simonās new to this whole teaching thing. He didnāt really expect to ever find himself being any sort of professor let alone a middle school teacher. His main thing was marine biology and engineering new technology for the field until the incident that nearly killed him. Heās sort of still recovering from the incident. He didnāt want to give up on it entirely but he still isnāt ready to go back into the sea so he settled on teaching the possible future of it through the kids⦠even though he doesnāt really know how to interact with them⦠or anyone.
Simon is a very introverted guy. Heās not one for socialization and never really knows what to say when he has to unless it was talking about his research and discoveries and even then it was very to the point. He hates it when people find out that heās THE Simon that discovered the newly discovered blood eel (as heās named it) because itās all they want to talk about and they ask all these questions, and he just hates it. He hates being the center of attention like that. Most of his lessons are to the point. He teaches them what they need to be taught, makes quizzes and tests about the material, and answers any questions and grades accordingly. He takes his lunch breaks alone. His classroom is sparsely decorated. Again, he just got here but he also still hasnāt found his style like you and Grace have. But you two will help with that.
It starts when he awkwardly asks you and Grace for help on something related to teaching. Thatās when you notice him and just sort of keep noticing him. You tell him to not be afraid to come and ask anything of you two. Your doors are always open. And that youāll gladly save a spot of him in the teacherās lounge during your lunch breaks, which you just happen to share. And then you give him some tips and suggestions on how to decorate when he decides that his classroom is too empty. Or ideas for projects for his students to do for different lessons. And then suddenly heās just in your little click and heās been absorbed into relationship.
He doesnāt know how he got here. You all went out for dinner after the last day of school one year and things happened. Now heās your boyfriend. Obviously you guys donāt talk about it at work. Everyone just knows you as this trio of science teachers who are close and two of you just happen to be married to each other, but little do they know that youāve all moved in together and kiss each other.
(And now Iām going to spend the rest of this talking about my hc on teacher!Simon)
Over time Simon finds his style
So Simon teaches basic and advanced biology along with the extracurricular engineering class, and is the coach for the engineering team. He does perfectly fine teaching the entirety of biology but his classroomās theme leans more towards marine biology with a few things from engineering. I actually like to think that he takes a picture with his engineering kids when they win tournaments each year and in every picture he starts looking prouder and fonder.
His midterm and final projects are a scientific paper about an animal of their choosing and a detailed slideshow presentation about one of the biomes and ecosystems they learned about that year including the plants, animals, geographic location and landscape, and any threats they might be facing. Heās pretty lenient on what animal and ecosystem they pick, like if a kid wants to present for a very specific biome related to one of the types of ecosystems they learned about then he letās them. But he lets the kids know one thing. The blood eel is the only animal off limits for the paper because too many kids tried to get an āeasy gradeā by trying to flatter him. Furthermore, you donāt get bonus points if your ecosystem slideshow is about a marine one just because he was a marine biologist. Heās not dumb, donāt even think about it. It needs to be genuine. Thatās how he knows his marine biology propaganda is working.
He seems really intimidating at first because his teaching style is very no nonsense on the surface. He knows heās dealing with middle schoolers here and their attention tends to wander or they want to goof around a little, and thats okay. He doesnāt get mad if a kid doodles on their notes, chews gum (even though the school tries to enforce a no gum policy) as long as theyāre not sticking it under the desks, or on the other kids, or popping and chewing it super loud, or canāt sit still. As long as they arenāt interrupting or ignoring his teaching. He can tell whoās paying attention and whoās not through the grades and their demeanor. And even then he can tell whoās getting bad grades because theyāre struggling and whoās getting them because they havenāt been listening. He still tries to help them but some kids just donāt care and he canāt cure āI donāt careā. Some kids just arenāt science people and if their parents get mad then thats on them.
He says that he doesnāt have favorites but thats a lie. He does. But itās not obvious nor does he ever tell, not even you and Grace. But he totally does. No itās not the teacherās pet. Or the class clowns. Or the try hard kid. But if you look closely you can see it. Itās the kids that actually care about what theyāre doing without expecting anything. Those are the kids he looks out for.

Some bloodymary x reader rambles for your consideration
Bare with me here, being on Erid with them, sharing a house in a biodome built by the Eridians. I imagine Erid has beautiful beaches, like absolutely gorgeous and you like to go watch the sunset there with them. Like sitting between them maybe with Simon's fingers laced with yours and Rylands head on your shoulder and you're just loving life ugh
Iāve yet to see people doing Bloody Mary x reader and you know what they say, be the things you want to see in the world.
(CW: Gender neutral reader, medical stuff, Simon having symptoms of PTSD and self loathing tendencies, & a few religious themes)
The discovery of the Iron Lung and thus Simon in the ocean of blood was jarring. He was barely clinging to life and surely wouldnāt have survived the trip back to Erid if it werenāt for your efforts with Grace and Rocky. He was lucky that you were the desegnated medic of the Hail Mary that managed to survive. No offense to the boys but Simon needed all the medical attention he could get considering he was missing an arm, experiencing cell mutations, and needed to be placed under a medically endured coma to give him a chance to heal. During that period, the three of you were scratching your heads (and carapace). All you could confirm was his name. But how exactly does a submarine end up in an anomalous planet thats just an ocean of blood? You didnāt know, so you needed to hope that he remembered. Turns out Simon wasnāt too thrilled to wake up to two strangers and a weird rock spider in a hamster ball examining him when he the last thing he remembered was drowning in blood and condemned to die, let alone find out heās on an alien planet.
Itās a slow process on developing trust. It takes Simon a while to realize that, no, you are not there to bring him back to the people who sent him to die. You have no clue what heās even talking about. And, no, you and Grace are not angels and Erid/the biodome is in fact not heaven. Heās 100% alive and safe.
Even when he was in the āIām dead, this is heavenā phase, Simon was a little reluctant to let you tend to him at all. It was like he was a scared animal that still didnāt know if he was safe or not. You and Grace tell him he is but how is he supposed to confirm that? If youāre not going to send him back and youāre not angels then what are you? Why would you want to help him? Heās a convict! Heās done terrible things! Heās even surprised he lets himself think that he would earn the right to be in heaven. You try to give him space. Grace might try his best to worm his way into being friendly a little too hard but you let Simon take his time.
It starts with you providing simple check ups where you regularly ask if heās okay and wants to continue and helping dress his amputation with little to no attempts at small talk from you. The most you do is ask if heās feeling well, has any symptoms, feels any different, or has any pain. You let the ball be in his court if he wants to talk at all. It takes a while and Simon tries to fight it but the fact that he can tell that youāre allowing him the choice coupled with how gentle you are with him starts getting to him. Itās been so long since heās been treated like a human being rather than a dangerous animal and he can see that you, Grace, and the Eridians care about his comfort that nearly makes him cry.
The ball gets rolling more after it finally clicks for Simon that he truly is safe. He joins you and Grace on your walks around the biodome that serves as both āphysical therapyā and showing him around his new home. He eats with you instead of just taking his food and eating in his living space that you gave him. He partakes in conversation. It takes him a long time to tell you everything because heās scared that if he admits to what he is and what he did then you and Grace will actually turn on him and shun him. But then again, he feels like he must because it eats away at him to see you being so kind and considerate to him. He feels like heās taking advantage of your kindness and he hates it. It comes as a shock when you and Grace donāt freak out. You listen to him. And what really tips him over the edge is when you and Grace basically tell him āWell, you havenāt done anything bad since you got here so either something changed within you or you just fell down the wrong path.ā. Youāre still continuing to care for him and see him as a person??? A person who can change??? Whoās allowed to change??? To be complex and have the chance to redeem themself instead of solely seeing him as either good or evil and arenāt scared of him???
Can you tell Simonās been trapped in the guilty convict mindset for a long time?
Simon doesnāt ask to become you and Graceās third. He can clearly see that you and Ryland are a couple and tries not to get in the way of that. He tries not to see the little moments he has with both you and Grace as anything romantic and will even reprimand himself when he does. He lets himself stay as your friend and third wheel. Furthermore, you and Grace donāt really mean to make Simon your third⦠it just kind of⦠happens??? Like you just absorb him into your relationship till heās both of your boyfriends. Simon just finds himself in the cuddle pile and youāre just sort of forced into having that āWhat are weā conversation and you all confess that you have feelings for each other and awkwardly decide to give it a go.
I love the idea of Simon taking on the care of the plants and gardening in the biodome. After he opens up about his life before being placed in the Iron Lung, you and Grace find that the task is very healing for him. It gives him peace to not only see plants but be the one tending to them. And if heās ever having a rough time but doesnāt want to talk about it, he uses it as a way of grounding himself till itās passed or heās ready to talk.
Simon is a man of few words. Originally it was because no one ever asked how he felt or what he thought. But now itās just manifested as him just preferring to be the listener rather than the speaker. Which perfectly contrasts to Grace being a chatterbox when heās talking about his research and discoveries. It is a bit intimidating at first because heās this completely silent big string guy with this deeply brooding and intimidating resting face, but thatās literally just how his face is. He just sort of forgets to display emotions sometimes. Grace and you are sort of the oneās in charge of being those displays.
Heās still getting used to physical affection. He still jumps and stiffens up when you and Grace hug him, cuddle up with him, or lean your head on him but almost immediately melts once the shock leaves. But trust me, he secretly wants to be held in you and Graceās arms when settling into bed. Give him a little peck on the cheek to make him feel loved. Simon mostly displays his affection through quality time. Heās like a cat. He just sort of goes off to maintain the garden and comes in and quietly bundles up with you two when the day is done.
Simon still has a ways to go. He still has his moments. Still gets nightmares that heās either back in the lung drowning or heās back in his cell rotting away and this was all just a dream. Things that trigger flashback and his flight or fight response. Sometime heāll even relapse into moments where heās just so full of anger and rage, though he never aims any of it at you and Grace. You give him his space when he needs it, but you also stay by him and help him come down. Remind him that itās over. Heās safe. Heās changed. Heās redeemed. Heās earned his freedom.
Thank you!! Iām so glad you see the vision. Just us, Grace, and this deeply traumatized man we found covered in blood that weāve made our third (and like maybe also Rocky and Adrian if weāre cool with it)

Some early relationship bloodymary x medical officer reader thoughts (its implied that Ryland and reader are already dating)
When you and Ryland found Simon, he was injured, screaming, and feeble attempting to fight you off.
It took approaching him like a wild animal, showing him your lack of weapons, and sending Ryland out of the room to get him to let you look at him.
Once he was back on the hail mary and his wounds were clean and bandaged, he slept.
He slept a lot. You checked on him frequently, his vitals. You explained amputation to Rocky ("where friend arm question?") Moved him as he slept to keep bedsores and atrophy away.
When he woke, he was delirious. You were gentle, introduced him to Ryland and rocky (who he genuinely believes for a while is a hallucination for a while)
He thinks the two of you are angels. His saviors.
You do frequent medical checks on Simon, Ryland there to keep him calm and distract him as you examine him.
Eventually he starts leaning into the touches, tailing you guys around the ship. Simon cries in his sleep unless the three of you are crammed into one bed, so now they've been pushed together.
You and Ryland love it, curling into the worshipful convict and showing him how to be gentle.
He tries to be helpful, he really does. But hes clumsy, unused to the handicap of missing an arm and knowing next to nothing about science or medicine. But he's very supportive.
Simon is convinced that you and Ryland can do anything, that you're the strongest, smartest people in the universe.
He thinks of rocky as a threat at first, because rocky often teases you guys (calling you weird/gross/stupid) and you have to be really patient with him and explain thats just the relationship you have with the eridian.
Rocky not understanding that Simon doesnt like him that much making him a robot arm ("friend simon small arm inefficient. Rocky fix") and Simon crying and because he's realizing that nobody's angry at him here and theres no cruelty on your ship
Simon breaking one day, explaining why he was where he was when you found him. Terrified that you would freak out or think lesser of him.
He gathers you and Ryland (and rocky, who refuses to let such a meeting take place without him, for science)
But then...you don't. Youve been through so much between the two of you that you accept it with open arms and curiosity.
he'd rub the back of his neck, shuffling his feet, ect. Nervous, sure this is where you dump him off somewhere as he explains it, the space station, accidentally signing Jack's death warrant, being the butcher.
You rub his back, reassuring him that it was okay, that you still love him. But you had questions.
Mostly about the science of everything, and about why he did what he did, his experiences. Which he gives, its like weight off his chest.
Ryland is curious about the quiet rapture, Rocky wants to know what the words he said meant and about the ocean, you wanted to know why (and consistently reassured him that no matter the situation he was in or what he did that he was loved and cared for)
He will always be loved. As simon, not the butcher or the convict. Simon.
The first time he thinks it, the only time he says it, you and Ryland are cleaning his wounds. "Is this heaven?" Small, unsure, like a child clinging to the offer of comfort. Ryland explains it to him, he's not dead he's okay now. Simon almost doesnt believe it.
He thinks it again staring out the hull window, he seemed to be counting the stars. He hadn't ever seen so many before, he asks Ryland if theres always that many and Ryland explains the "birth" of stars to him, that there will always be stars like this.
And again when he's given painkillers, he was still hurting, aching from where his arm was pulled away. He had been trying to brave through it but you noticed, and offered him some medicine. He insisted he wasnt sick, you promised there was enough and he wasnt wasting any.
Its much the same with rations, upon discovering how little he was taking to eat and drink. You and Ryland assured him that it was okay, that the ship was stocked for 4 human crew members, he could eat.
He was sure he was dead when he watched Ryland burn himself and run to you, rocky ribbing him and all of you laughing. He watched how sure Ryland was that despite how small and preventable the injury was and how you called him stupid, that you would help him.
More sure when you let him crawl into bed with you, let him curl up to chase the night terrors away. Rubbing his back as he whimpered and mumbled unintelligible pleas for you not to leave.
And when Ryland comes to curl up in bed and finds his spot taken, he laughs, ruffles Simon's hair, and pushes another bed over to make space.
What is heaven if not being loved without being a burden.
