Later in the book we learn that when Thomas had first come to the institute he was small and frail and he had developed a sort of friendship with Will (as much as Will allowed that friendship to develop, I imagine, since he thought he was cursed). They grew apart after Jem came to the institute, but Thomas never held that against him. 

Years later he lost his life defending the institute. As he was dying Will knelt by his side to say “Hail and farewell” and Thomas stopped him, telling him he wasn’t a shadowhunter and that if Will were there he would have held Mortmain and the automatons off.

Simon decorating their apartment for Christmas for Isabelle and Isabelle decorating their apartment for Hanukkah for Simon. Like literally these dorks probably thought they were being all sneaky with buying their decorations for the others, but really, they probably ran into each other while out shopping. 

Though Simon doesn’t know that Izzy’s been spending a lot of time with his mother, trying to learn how to make Simon’s favorite Hanukkah foods and also trying to learn more about the Holiday

Of course Simon is in awe that someone he’s dating has tried to do so much for him and he just kisses her right them and there. 

And Simon doesn’t even have to lie and say her cooking is good because it actually is.

“How did you even—” “Your mother is a real gem, Simon.” 

Clary buys the ugliest Christmas sweaters for all of them (even Max and Rafe). Alec grumbles but Clary smacks him with his sweater and he humors her and puts it on (thought he’ll never admit he actually likes it). 

Clary and Isabelle putting all kinds of Holiday decorations up in the institute - making sure to get all of them. So that anyone can feel a little more at home. 

Magnus magicking a tree into the apartment and trying to magic the ornaments too, but Alec not letting him so they do it manually. And Max gets tangled in the tinsel and Magnus and Alec stop what they’re doing to take a picture because he just looks so cute. (and they send it to everyone). 

Simon getting Jace a rubber duck as a present as a joke (as always). It gets to a point where Alec joins in too and Jace just gets to a point where says “I hate you both.” and doesn’t even opens the presents. 

One year, Magnus magics an actually duck into the institute and it sends Jace into a fit. 

Isabelle takes a moment to herself on Christmas to spend some time thinking about Max and her father. 

Clary takes some time to think about the brother she could have had. 

Jace being Jace and putting mistletoe in literally any spot he can get to in the institute. 

Maryse cooking the biggest dinner for all of them and even invites Luke and Jocelyn to the institute. Izzy, Alec and Jace warning everyone that their mother may have went a tad bit overboard and to watch out. 

Maryse may or may not spent most of her time spoiling Max and Rafe and giving them just about anything they ask for. 

Luke and Jocelyn having a nice quite night in and just enjoying married life and being disgusting in love as Clary puts it. 

Luke buys Jocelyn more art supplies during the Holidays since she’s taken to painting and drawing again. And basically a part of apartment turns into an art studio and he hangs paintings/sketches that Jocelyn and Clary have done in the living room and wherever else he can put them because he’s just so damn proud of the women in his life. 

Honestly, just them all being a big, happy family and having some god damn peace
