If you don’t get what you want, you suffer; if you get what you don’t want, you suffer; even when you get exactly what you want, you still suffer because you can’t hold on to it forever. Your mind is your predicament. It wants to be free of change. Free of pain, free of the obligations of life and death. But change is law and no amount of pretending will alter that reality.

Migraine Update 5/8/17
There still here. And major bad. I had an extremely bad reaction to some migraine meds in February and dang near lost it. It was rougher than a night in jail. Honestly still not quite right now. Doc has a new med for me to try, but I haven't worked up the nerve to take it yet. I finally got to try cbd oil, and I believe it helps. That and kratom powder are helping me function almost normally for a few hours each day. I fucking hate this. But it's like my shadow. Wherever I run it's there with me.
I get it…..
Migraine Update
Back in the world of suck. Curcumin quit working, so I'm taking a break from it. Hopefully it will work again in few weeks. At least I have the somnilight glasses that really do work for the photophobia. Eh...it was a nice break while it lasted, and I am thankful for those precious few weeks. I know another break will roll around sometime.
The Perennial Philosopy
The first time I saw it was in sixth grade, when we studied world history. And in the section on the ancient Mesopotamia, we looked at the Sumerian culture, cuneiform, and the Code of Hammurabi.  And when I read the part about an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, I remember thinking, “hmm, that guy musta read the bible.”
Then, a couple years later, in eighth grade, again world history, only this time more clearly, I saw it again. It was parallel sayings from different cultures and different times, all offering up slightly different renditions of the Golden Rule. There was Jesus, Buddha, Confucius, and no doubt others I don’t recall, all saying essentially the same thing.Â
Do unto others and all that. A good idea, spoken by good men, only they were separated by centuries of time, not to mention the distances.
It hit me hard. And that day after school I begged mom to take me to the county library, where I checked out a copy of The Analects. Thus began the proper warping of this mind.
It was much later that I learned that there was a name for this phenomenon of familiar wisdom cropping up in different times and places throughout history.  Aldous Huxley named it “The Perennial Philosophy”, and wrote a book about it by the same name.Â
Perennial, because it keeps coming back again and again. Like some sweet, medicinal herb, offering its healing truth to mankind. Â Truth springs eternal, just like life, bursting up out of whatever congress of stinks that we happen to find ourselves in at the time.Â
Spirit sings Her timeless truth through all the ages, and always there will be some souls who can hear and sing that sweet chorus back to Her, so that the rest of us can hear as well. That we may all once again learn those songs that may from time to time slip the mind of mankind, but never will be utterly forgotten and gone forever.Â
And in this, there is a solace.Â

This ghost-like apparition was taken after an automobile accident. All of the passengers survived which lead some to believe an angel assisted them.Â
