Excuse you, this isn't Gregson's blog, don't ask him questions. That will only entice him to hide my possessions until I relinquish the device.

To answer your question, however, I did not think he would make it past constable. Clearly we were in desperate need of inspectors when he was promoted. I do hope standards have become stricter since then.

I thought Lestrade was an imposter because he is so short.

I thought he would make an excellent partner, unfortunately, that notion was dispelled when he began speaking. As it turns out Toby, my dog, is better at searching for clues, and he is not even trained to do so.

I very much appreciate your flattery. For you are unique images of Arthur prepared to have is claws trimmed. Despite his expression, it is a painless experience, I assure you. Even so, he was given many treats after the ordeal was done.

Ah, in that case, I apologize.

I wish I could say I was always as willing to accept help, but, in truth, I was not. I sent him away several times on the first case we did together. On the the seventh time he inserted himself into an official investigation, I went so far as to have him jailed for the night. Of course, he was still able to solve it, even though his time on the scene had been incredibly limited; he also made several deductions about myself no one else had. I believe that is when I finally began to believe in his skill, though, I was a long way from admitting it. Now, I am quite glad to be considered among his closest friends.

Holmes first intruded upon a crime scene of mine one year, three months, and one week prior to his bringing Dr. Watson along to 3 Lauriston Gardens. I was still very much skeptical of his skill at that point, believing that if he were truly so talented he should join Scotland Yard. I know now that such an arrangement would never work, as several of the doctor's stories highlight, justice in the legal sense and justice in the moral sense can be entirely different at times. I wish it were not the case, but it very much is. Being a consulting detective allows him to take liberties that I cannot.

That is slightly disconcerting, but also the intended reaction, I suppose. Of course Holmes and Dr. Watson have met him, Arthur has even grown bold in their presence. Mr. Mycroft Holmes has also made the "arduous journey" to meet him, though, he cares for pets approximately as much as he cares for human children. He does seem to enjoy deducing how exactly Arthur was most recently curled on my lap from the residual cat hairs. Readers of The Strand would never know, but he is a rather affectionate soul, even if he has a visage of stoicism. Now that I have personal experience, I can say with confidence that the Holmeses are both indeed very feline in their behaviors despite their differences. In the image below, Arthur has made himself comfortable under a shelf.

Only Gregson and Hopkins have met him in person. Because Arthur was recovered from the street, he is loathe to outside again. He is also fearful of new people and locations, for these reasons, he only stays inside the house. He is content to watch the world through the windows. I do, however, speak of him a great deal to my fellow inspectors, for a good while Bradstreet thought my wife had given birthday to a child. Below is an image of Arthur sleeping.

Arthur is approximately three and one half years old (we do not know for certain because he was on the streets before living with us). Three of those years he has spent in this house, and by the will of God, I hope he will spend a great many more. Below are images of Arthur as a kitten.

Greetings, young one. This is quite the "place," I find myself unable to fully comprehend it. Things are operating smoothly at the Yard, even Gregson has solved a case or two on his own. Which means crimes have been relatively simple as of late, much to Sherlock's lament. I have in fact seen him and Dr. Watson, we dined together at Baker Street just two days ago. I was even able to convince Mycroft to join us.
