The Quarter Quell arrives and the Games begin again. That is to say, our glorified Victors turn to Tributes again, where certainly the Capitol will find more entertainment than a cat and jewel patterns from the sun.
Tributes, this is your calling - your fate - that you have signed onto. This will be the test, whom of you remains the elite and whom of you has garnered the training? This year, the arena is certainly not for the faint of heart, or rather, it is not for the faintly boned - surely they will break, like brittle leaves underfoot.Â
Your Capitol, will have the expressed pleasure of feasting on their Tributes in an arena from the mind of Petyr Baelish, a most esteemed - and dare we say - devious, Games-Maker.Â
Your arena this year comes from a mastermind, dear Tributes. A boreal forest - full of trees hard to climb, but easy to hide in - looms ahead. Under the canopies of leaves and branches you will find no clearings, only the dim light of a sun that can barely peak through.
The Cornucopia, a favourite event, sits in the centre of the arena, atop a hill encased in ice - frozen over and hard to climb. Surrounded by a tundra, this is your clearing, Tributes. A core heart of ice, with a white waste to frame it.Â
The closer to the core and Cornucopia you get, the colder it will be. Freezing near your supplies and weapons, the edges and forest remain warm and easiest - but why would we make this easy for you, Tributes? The Capitol - Kings Landing - is tired of easy.Â
Snowstorms and rain will rage and be your enemies, as well as each other. Wildfyre, an unruly substance with the temper of a dragon, is your only tool to light fire. Your only friend, and it could eat you alive.
Expect others to come for you, dear Tributes. This Quarter Quell is a violent masterpiece. These Hunger Games will be historic, vengeful and malevolent.Â
The game has changed, Tributes.
