The Naysayers are But Worms!

I’ll admit I do like some 80s properties when it comes to He-Man, She-Ra, ThunderCats, and the like, but I do not think my enjoyment of this movie is fully nostalgia fueled. That being said, this movie was so much fun.

I had never seen Nicholas Galitzine before, who plays Adam/He-Man here, but he was exceptional. I do think it is funny that they had to keep him clothed and whatnot before the transformation to not show off how built he was too early. But this is our leading character. He has to be likable, he has to be fun, he has to be relatable, and he does all of that very fast despite giving an opening monologue that would make any normal person think you are crazy.

After an attack by Skeletor on the Kingdom of Grayskull in Eternia, Adam ends up on Earth separated from the power he needs to get back home. While he has been looking for it all his life, he has also had to adjust and blend into Earth society. Then he finally finds it and makes his way back to Eternia with many problems to handle from there.

The overall lesson is nothing new. Power comes from who you are, and we build up all these ideas in our heads of what we are supposed to be or who we are supposed to be. But I think the movie still delivers that message in a solid way while being fun and entertaining.

There are great throwbacks and references to the original series, and even little jokes about why people are named what they are named. Even when some of the jokes were dumb, they still played pretty well for me. Certain things had me laughing and that is the core of entertainment! Bringing some sort of joy.

My only sentiment is, if people are watching this and not finding any enjoyment, get out of here! There are plenty of moments in this movie that should make any normal person laugh or think something is damn cool. That is not my opinion. That is just facts.

I really enjoyed the visual effects, the setting, and the characters! The side characters and the bigger characters were all well done. Yes even Jared Leto as Skeletor(in role only)... BUT Warrior Goddess Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and of course, Sir Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms. I also have to mention Roboto, because she had me chuckling a bit too.

Unfortunately, I know the movie did not do too well money-wise for a guaranteed sequel, but I would watch the crap out of anything else coming from this universe.
