Intersex people make up nearly 2 percent of the population — why are their lives so often invisible?
📢 On #IntersexDayofSolidarity, our Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs Sam Ames writes with Kimberly Zieselman, “As attacks continue to be lodged against people based on antiquated and harmful beliefs about sex and gender, it is more pressing than ever to center the issue of intersex children’s bodily autonomy.” Read their piece for The Advocate 📢
a lack of intersectionality in your personal politics will literally melt your brain. conceptualizing all systems of oppression as just disparate entities that arised entirely independently from one another is the most ahistorical take you could possibly have on any social phenomenon ever. look at how systems built on white supremacy have historically viewed homosexuality, transgenderism, disability, religious diversity, women, class, etc. and how the "logic" that upholds each of those reenforces the others, none of these can be tackled independently, thats just not something thats possible to do, to dismantle one you must dismantle all, to pretend otherwise is to perpetuate.
now that tumblr's banned the english language we should all just start communicating in our native languages, getting to decipher what everything means will be half the fun
rip to the monolingual english speakers though yall will be missed
I mean to each their own and it's not really harmful per se, but so much of bookstagram, booktok and booktube is just a display of privilege. It's a privilege to own multiple copies of the same book, it's a privilege to "collect" every single edition of your favourite YA romance, it's a privilege to own ARCs and signed copies and beautiful illustrated hardback editions and claim "any true bookworm will know that amazing feeling of hoarding editions" like no, it isn't. It requires a certain level of financial stability and security to spend that much of money on creating an aesthetic display of books. Again, it's not a really bad thing, but I just feel so distant from all of it, as someone from a middle class family, who feels bad spending more than 500 rupees on books at a time.

They're Together Again...
On that thread about the site with the music tastes, you said yours went from a Bisexual LI. What does that mean?
Oh I think this was about the music progression or something? It was a while ago. Anyway, a bunch of the artists suggested there are bi.
One was I think In This Moment? The front woman is bi. And khm idk about Halestorm but Do Not Disturb is a lretty bisexual vibe.
I don't remember anymore what I meant Im sorry 😭
Dear annons in my inbox,
I hope you have space for love & kindness in your heart, to understand trans people are worthy of love and worthy of respect. When we transition, we put forward our honest self, our true self.
Sometimes others can't reconcile their sense of self with ours; sometimes, in relationships, we find compromises which work for us, and we grow from those into better understanding of each other.
We cannot define others for who they are but they cannot define us for who we are either.
So for example, when we let our loved one in with, "I am a woman", but our partner is a gay man, we hope we can find the right words to say which keep us both valid and respected. Sometimes that is not possible and that's ok; sometimes, the ones we love cannot follow us where we need to go.
Either way, I hope you don't ever feel the need to envoke trans icons' names to invalidate our journeys, to muddle our rhetoric, and to try stifle our truth. We are not our genitalia (the attraction to it and other sex characteristics is called gynephilia though, and it is indeed trabsphobic, which is why we nowadays speak of gender not sex).

My dear lgbt+ kids,
This is simply a short shoutout to my followers who speak arabic as their first language!
You don’t get a lot of representation but the simple truth is that you exist and people like you have always existed and will always exist. You are a wonderful and important part of our community.
ابتسامتك جميلة.
(That’s one of the very few sentences I know but it’s true: Your smile is beautiful!)
With all my love, Your Tumblr Dad
The Internet is full of him, right now many hide behind a twisted 2nd Amend. logic.

Who is your dad, now?

So there’s this book. It passes the Bechdel Test with flying colors. The polyamorous woman is never slutshamed in the narrative, and neither is the single mother. Sex workers are defended. Women have agency, and their actions drive a significant amount of the plot.
I’m talking, of course, about Les Mis, which was written by a man in 1862.
I loved this book before I knew why I should
