you've likely seen my face in recruitment posters, but in case you don't know who i am:

♪ finally, i know most of the marine characters here are silly and not quite professional, but this is the first time i'm ever writing a character that works for an armed force ever forever. i'll try my hardest to stay within realistic bounds of what behaviour is acceptable however there's a strong likelihood that i'll flounder/fail. so. please be nice! and if you have any advice you're willing to share please do (T_T)

[a young man walks into the bar. august had been waiting to come here for what felt like ages, only spurred on by reading helmeppo's post earlier. it was real shame he couldn't come with, he would have invited him if it weren't for that absolute blunder earlier. well, it just meant he has more time to spend with rell.]
[he walks over to the bar, wading through the crowd of people that have gathered. it was a bit late, which meant the most people were out and about. both a blessing and a curse; fortunately, he manages to find a seat just in time.]
bonsoir, mon cher.
[he greets in a playful voice. he lets his heavy jacket fall against the back of the seat, and he lets out a deep sigh. that felt so damn good. he rolls his shoulders a few times before leaning his arms against the bartop, resting his head in the palm of one hand.]

[Rell is moving a little slower than usual, though not as bad as this morning. The painkillers, coconut water, and the protein-laden breakfast had done more for her hangover than any rest could, but she was being careful. Still, though, she always had the time and energy to spare on her good friends. They practically light up like one of Kit's candles at the sight of August in their bar.]
August, mon cher ami!
I've been worse! It's so good to see you.
[She reaches for a tall martini glass, another instinctual habit. Without asking, she begins to make him a raspberry daiquiri.]
It's been too long, much too long! How have you been?
[he echoes back, thinking about the lively few days he's had both online and on the ship. the weather certainly had it's effect on him as well, making him half asleep at his desk the whole day. it was cooler now, be it because of the time of day or his proximity to the ice box. much better.]
i had a lot of boring paperwork to fill out, i had to keep some new recruits from accidentally killing themselves onboard, the usual.
[he waves his free hand dismissively with a small smile. you would think not running on wet floors would be a given.]
what have you been up to recently? you look like you had some fun last night!
[Rell winces sympathetically as she pours the daiquiri into a clean, elegant glass.]
They're that bad? I would hope these new recruits would know better...
[She slides him the glass of pink, glimmering liquid and runs a hand through her hair.]
Mmh. Fun is a word for it. I had an old friend in last night. He needed a drink, and I needed a break. We both overindulged, and all... consequences of my own actions. Nice to see him doing well, but boy can he put it away.
ah, well, they’re probably just happy about being on a big ship- oh, thank you very much.
[he cups under the head of the glass and brings it to his nose, inhaling the deliciously sweet smell before taking a sip. he smiles brightly and sighs at the taste. perfect, every time. oh, rell.]

The issue with allot of flower language is that it’s been too commercialised. They don’t base meanin’ on cultural context no more ‘cause it’s all gotta be somethin’ positive, how else will ya sell people flowers for a bouquet if they got a negative meanin’. Which sucks, there’s allot more to flower symbolism than just love…
