Been Fantasizing About Me, Have You?

Rebecca wasn’t sure where Billy was going with this. He wasn’t happy with how things were? Did he mean — with them? Was he breaking up with her? Her throat felt tight, and she swallowed — waiting for him to finish.

So, when the ring came into view, it was safe to say she was frozen in place in shock. A ring. He was asking her to marry him. Her doe-like green eyes were wide in surprise, a hand darting up to her mouth. She couldn’t believe.

"Yes," she finally managed to whisper. "Yes!" And then exclaimed it fervently. Both her hands clapped together in front of her, and a bubbling laugh escaped her lips. She only noticed then she was crying when she felt wetness on her cheeks. Happy tears.  

He smiled at that. There had always been that moment of doubt in his mind, that she might say no. She was so involved with her work, and him now with his, that he thought she might feel that marriage would put a damper on her career. It was something he'd thought about himself, but it really didn't matter. She was his life, he wouldn't be standing here now if it wasn't for the little brunette in front of him. He reached out gently then, taking her hand, as he carefully slid the ring on her finger. He raised a brow as he looked up at her, before pulling her in close to him and planting a passionate kiss on her lips. He stayed that way with her for several moments, always hard pressed and hesitant to pull away from her during times like this. He loved feeling those lips against his, feeling her body against him. Being close to her was like taking a deep breath of fresh air. It made him feel alive in a way that few things in his life ever had, it made him feel happy.
