At first I felt like I must be a bad person for being upset that Idris Elba is going to play Roland the Gunslinger in The Dark Tower movie. I fucking love The Gunslinger series and I’ve always seen Roland as a skinny, kind of sickly looking white dude with stringy hair and tired eyes. So when Iris Elba, who is none of those things, was cast I was furious. Then I worried…’Does that mean I’m racist?’ But I feel better now and I’ll tell you why. When I first heard about the possibility of a Gunslinger movie one of the first names I heard mentioned as Roland was Russell Crow. And that pissed me off too. (also Matthew McConaughey as The Dark Man?! WTF. NO.)
