uhhh i suddenly got the urge to talk about one of my most underrated favorite cartoons of all time :’)

this show aired on cartoon network in 2010, yet still holds up as one of the edgiest modern kids’ cartoons to air on tv imo.

 it frequently used the word “crap”, had a lot of very explicitly sexual jokes, and most surprisingly of all??? it dealt with some pretty realistic adult issues.

the entire main cast consist of grown adults. this is one of the things that really makes this show stand out to me!! while the characters (especially mordecai and rigby) tend to deal with their problems in immature or irrational ways, the show’s not afraid to touch on certain topics that you wouldn’t usually expect from a kids’ show.

and let’s not forget the infamous “you pissed me off” scene that actually got censored in the us at some point lmao.

it’s really fucking funny too??? this show has so many iconic moments, it’s incredible.

mordecai’s different relationships throughout the show and the drama that comes with them are portrayed in a relatable and honestly pretty sad way. while he messes up a lot, you really end up feeling for this guy.

all of those old references and retro music?? it gives everything such a unique atmosphere, and it fits so well considering our protagonists likely grew up with those things. it really helps set the mood for the show.

much like the amazing world of gumball, which is also an amazing cartoon network show by the way, it follows an episodic formula while it still has a coherent plotline. every episode deals with a new problem that (usually) gets resolved at the end, yet the characters and their relatonships develop and change permanently over time.
