Marcel chuckled and nodded, “Play nice, I always try to do that,” he smiled. “I know, it’s okay to get emotional but if you tell anyone that I cried I will tell them that you lied about it.” He kissed her head again and nodded, “Okay I believe you,” he looked at her at her next words, shaking his head, “Yeah don’t count on that.”

Davina couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his words, giving the vampire a pointed look. “Sure you do.” She retorted with a smirk. “Right, the big bad King of New Orleans can’t have feelings. You know, that sounds like Klaus but you? You’re a better leader because you have emotions. Crying isn’t a sign of weakness.” She pointed out, letting out a small laugh. “So are you going to give me my bags back?”

“How did you die if you don’t mind me asking,” She asked curiously.

“Painfully and unnecessarily.” She replied with a pointed look, before letting out a sigh. “I’m a witch and I pissed of my witch ancestors. I guess they got their revenge.”

“What are you trying to find,” She asked. “Well Marcel and I don’t do a lot of talking…” She said offhandedly. “Hope got to him. And it’s supposed to be a great way for my cousin to help her learn magic,” She explained. She fiddled on her feet. “You’re a grown woman… You know… He’s been more rough than normal… Like sexually aggressive. You’ve had sex right?”

“Something I lost fifteen years ago.” She crossed her arms over her chest, giving the witch a look that indicated she wasn’t going to get anymore information. “Oh, well I guess that makes sense. Hope deserves to have access to NOLA knowledge. I’m not sure how wise it is letting all of them back in though.” For a moment Davina continued to listen patiently before her face curled into a disgusted frown. “Oh my god, gross, please stop talking. There is no way I’m answering that question!” She ran her hands over he face with a shudder. “I - I don’t know if that’s normal, Lucy! Check his blood for curses or something? Just don’t ever use the words ‘Marcel’ and ‘sexually’ in the same context again.”

“Ah well I’m sure Kol and Nik would love to hear that.” Rebekah smiles a teasing smile. “Oh he better,” She replies, taking a long drink from her glass. “I can be a very poetic person, I like the whole build up of anticipation, you know?” She chuckles softly. Once the war between her family and Marcel was brought up, Rebekah signaled for another drink. “Kol won’t die.” Rebekah wouldn’t let it. She wouldn’t let anyone die for that matter. And maybe that’s where her stupidity lie. Davina was smart in going to Rebekah about this, using her affections towards Marcel against her. “And how do you suppose we stop this?”

“Why would Klaus be happy? There’s no way I’m going to do any spells for him, believe me.” Davina replied sharply, eyes moving from the blonde to her drink. She raised a thin eyebrow when Rebekah ordered another drink at the mention of a war, to which the witch let out a small chuckle. “I swear your family’s solution to everything is violence and a good bottle of bourbon.” She said pointedly, her fingers tapping on the edge of the bar. “Well. considering he’s died twice already I’m not sure I share your faith.” She admitted before throwing her arms in the air, a hand then running through her hair. “I don’t know, Rebekah, you’re the one who’s a thousand years old. I just - I know your family get very revengy when one of you is hurt. Maybe if you could convince them to leave town. Surely you guys can find a better city then New Orleans?” Davina knew it was probably hopeless that the Mikaelsons would just up and leave, but she had to try.

“That she is, I still find it hard to believe she grew so fast.” Hayley replies with a soft laugh. “It’s not, and I’m assuming you heard about it from Kol. He’s probably one of the best ones to hear it from, honestly.” She chuckles. Hayley’s lips tug up into a smile, “I’ve missed you too, Davina.” She responds softly, “Now, tell me how your reunions have been so far.”

“I wouldn’t exactly call fifteen years fast.” She replied with a small giggle. “What’s her magic like? Is it as powerful as that crazy Dahlia lady kept saying?” Davina asked before giving the Hybrid a small nod. “I get most of my information on their family history from Kol, which now that I think about probably isn’t good.” She shrugged sheepishly. “Reunions? Well I told Marcel off for hurting you and Kol, don’t worry. It’s not fair that you had to haul around Mikaelson coffins for fifteen years. I shouted at Elijah a little bit, ran into Rebekah beating up someone in a bar. Truth is, I don’t have a lot of people to reunite with; espesually after fifteen years.”

All this talk of dreams makes the moment feel a little surreal, and Kol is almost afraid that something’s wrong. Davina’s heart is beating so quickly, blood thrumming wildly through her veins as she struggles to breathe between their kisses. He should be more careful or, at the very least, go a little slower. Lack of restraint is dangerous.

Then again, bad things seem to happen whether Kol is being careful or reckless so maybe, just this once, not everything is about him and his problems. 

That was something else he’d have to used to if it was going to become a common thing.

Their bodies are pressed so closely together and he can feel her hands on his bare skin. He’s used to Davina feeling so soft, with her gentle curves and whispering breaths, but now her lips are firm and wanting against his. He can’t help but respond with matching vigor, his grip tightening and hauling her closer despite how impossible it seems. 

“Davina Claire,” he murmurs her name laboriously, taking a loud, heavy breath as they part. His fingers toy with a strand of her hair, smoothing it away from her face with a lingering touch as he smiles, “I couldn’t have dreamt you up if I had a thousand years to try.”

Every time Kol’s arms pull her closer, Davina’s breath hitches just a little and she kisses him even harder. Her eyes flicker shut and all that exists is the two of them. It doesn’t matter that they’re standing in a doorway and all their new neighbors are probably judging them, hard. It doesn’t even matter that her family hates his and they’re caught up in the middle of it. Davina wants to spend every last moment of her mortal life standing in that doorway, her lips moving passionately against his. So when Kol finally pulls away, she’s just about ready to pull him back in for more.

When their lips split apart she doesn’t though, but lets out a small gasp of breath instead. Her eyes flicker open and they gaze into Kol’s adoringly until he whispers her name and she can’t help but look down with a smile. She’s fairly sure she couldn’t dream this up either. If you had asked her when she was sixteen if she’d be with an Original Vampire she would have laughed in your face. Now, Davina can’t imagine anything better.

“We should probably unpack all your stuff.” She finally suggests with a smile, trying to control the red flooding to her cheeks. Her eyes move back to meet his when she feels a careful hand moving against her face.“I want to know what the infamous Kol Mikaelson keeps in his house.” Her voice is teasing again, and Davina can’t hold back a small chuckle fueled by just how much joy she’s feeling in that moment.

“Actually,” Kol counters, not even missing a beat, “My hobby for the past fifteen years has been sleeping,” His gaze searches her face, voice dropping and fingertips yearning to feel her soft skin beneath them, “and wishing that I could dream of you.” After all, where else was he ever going to see her again? Even the nightmares — those horrid, grotesque things which torment him among the earliest hours of any given morning — were more bearable in a way so long as he captured the slightest glimpse of bewitching blue eyes or that familiar silhouette.

Despite the precarious direction of his thoughts, Kol’s face is still alight with his smile and playfully quirked brow. He hums as Davina glances at his lips and, once she’s finally invited him in, drops the whiskey bottle back into the box where he’d found it, forgotten. They can drink later. Right now, he wants a taste of something sweeter.

“Took you long enough,” the jest has just barely left his lips before he’s kissing her, hands cupping her cheeks before they drift down to her waist. He still feels like they aren’t close enough, but when does he ever? That’s why they’re standing here now, just barely hidden away from the chaos of a broken city and exuding a quiet desperation for even more.

If feels as though every word that leaves Kol’s lips elicits an impossibly large grin from her. Even now when he speaks of dreams that are all too often plagued by memories, from both her life and death, Davina can’t wipe the smile. It doesn’t matter that both of them have spent the last fifteen years apart, each with their own torment. They’re together now and it almost feels as if she never left his side. “Unfortunately for you -” Davina begins with a cheeky raise of her eyebrows, head titling ever so slightly as she gazes at Kol “ - I’m not very tired. And since you’ll staying up with me; you’re going to have to wait for the dreaming part.”

She’s about to say something more, some other teasing line, but his lips are on hers and suddenly everything else is unimportant. “I’m guessing this is better then a dream then?” She manages before her hands shoot up to his face, holding him tightly as if afraid he’ll pull away.

Davina is no longer soft and careful with her lips, now they move against his hungrily. Her heart races and she can feel her blood pumping furiously under her skin. For a moment she’s worried Kol might be affected by it, that he’ll feel the blood lust that was their last obstacle. But the concern is gone in a flash when she realizes that for the first time in a long time, there are no obstacles. No borrowed bodies, no curses, no Ancestors. Just Kol and her, here and now.

“I’m not trying to be mean. I’m actually nice when people get to know me,” Lucy stated. “He’s letting the Mikaelsons back into the city. I think he had a run in with one or two of them… It has him shook. And he’s been… Very aggressive, ” She stated.

“I know.” Davina replied with a sigh, dropping the attitude. “I’m just frustrated the spell isn’t working. And if Marcel has ever talked about me then you’ll know I have a bit of a temper.” She gave the other witch an apologetic shrug. “He’s letting them back? I didn’t think he was the kind to back down easily.” Her voice trailed off in thought. “How has be been aggressive?”

“Can’t you perform some kind of spell to only have him able to talk on certain occasions? Yeah well I can get along with him if he didn’t always provoke me, if you know what I mean,” he looked at her. “Good no one gets it easy when you’re in their life,” he grinned, seeing a tear fall down her cheek, he wiped it away. “You really love him, don’t you?”

“Probably, I am that good.” She says with a grin, giving a small shrug. “But I’m not going to. You’re just gonna have to play nice.” Davina didn’t even notice a tear had fallen down her face until Marcel’s finger wiped it away. “Sorry, I don’t know why I’m getting emotional. It’s just - you’ve always been such a big part of my life.” She admitted, before nodding. “I do, but I love you just as much. We’re going to be okay, Marcel. Everything is going to work itself out.” Davina pauses for a moment before shooting him a mischievous smirk. “Who knows? One day he might be calling you Dad.”

Davina’s so close that he can feel the warmth of her breath like a light and pleasant whisper against his skin. He wants to reach out, pull her into a kiss that makes the rhythm of her heartbeat quicken or stutter, but alas. The bloody barrier would remain unless Davina willed it to disappear. His usual method of entering a residence without invitation was…well, it wasn’t going to work. He’d need to try something else.

“If you’re not going to let me in,” Kol glanced down at the few bags and boxes of personal effects at his feet, “then the least you could do,” locating the item he’d been searching for — a bottle of bourbon, one of several he’d swiped from the Mikaelson residence — he took it out and brandished the fancy label at her with a suggestively raised brow, “is come out here and keep me from being bored out of my bloody mind.” Leaning against the door frame again, Kol met Davina’s gaze with a smirk, his face lingering so close to hers while still remaining just outside the invisible boundary. He was really starting to hate these enormous, indelible walls that seemed to always pop up and do their damnedest to keep them apart, but at least this one had a relatively quick and painless fix.

When Kol walks away, Davina lets out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. She almost runs over the boundary in pursuit of him, just to feel his breath on her again. Instead, she crosses her arms over her chest and watches disapprovingly as Kol pulls out a bottle of ( surprise, surprise ) bourbon. Blue eyes roll at him while Davina shakes her head. She never understood the appeal of liquid courage, though living with a thousand year old alcoholic would probably change her view.

“Ah, I see your hobby for the last fifteen years has been alcoholism. Is it a family trait to always have a bottle of bourbon around?” She shoots at him with a smirk, raising a thin eyebrow at him. Davina looks at him unflinchingly as he strolls back to the boundary, as if challenging him to say otherwise.

But then their faces are inches away again and her heart starts to flutter. They’ve been apart for so long and she’s desperate to put another soft kiss on his lips. Maybe they can find another way to have a bit of fun, as long as it doesn’t involve them being so close without being able to touch. “We wouldn’t want you getting bored, would we?” She says in a whisper, eyes flickering from his brown ones to his lips.

Then, with as much grandiose as the little witch can muster, the words finally leave her lips. “Kol Mikaelson, you are hereby invited into this home.”

      Cemeteries were eerie places but magic called and Silas had become rather curious to see what the whole ruckus was about. He stopped a bit far, not too close to distract the witch from her practice. “Hovering?” he questioned, taking her words as an invitation to step in closer. “C’mon, kiddo, a good witch can practice their magic with a crowd of people looking on.” he looked to her almost as if he were challenging her. “What are you up to anyway?”

Davina let out a sigh when the stranger responding, having hoped the shortness in her voice would have scared the other off. “I know, I’ve done it before.” She replied, exasperated. “I used to be Regent.” Her admission came out with a little less hostility, flickering her eyes briefly in the direction of the man. She didn’t recognize him, but then again the witches of New Orleans were bound to have changed in 15 years. “I’m doing a locator spell, only I don’t have anything to connect me to the thing I’m trying to find. Hence the need for concentration.”

“I was telling a story,” She said to the girl. “I took Latin and Archaic Latin in high school when I wasn’t coming up with ways to use magic for other to make some cash,”

“Latin and thievery, what a combination.” She almost let out a laugh, despite trying hard to maintain her annoyance. “You didn’t answer my question. What is wrong with Marcel?” If this girl knew something Davina was going to get it out of her.

“No… I was… I’m human… I have family members who were or are vampires,” She said.

“They might still be alive. And if they’re anywhere, they’ll be in New Orleans.” She gave the other a small smile. “Maybe I can help you find them.”

“Oh , come ON. It’s a parade. Lose the BEATEN puppy look and dance a little.”

“I-I have no idea what I’m doing.” Davina said with a laugh. She wasn’t sure why she had thought going out would be a good idea. “This is not my scene.”

“I’m not criticizing. I just know that you say one simple word wrong and next thing you know, you’ve turned your dog into a toad,” She stated. “Something is up with Marcel and I’m know how lose you are. Maybe talk to him,”

“I don’t have a dog.” She muttered in response, rolling her eyes at the other girl. “Didn’t realize you were some kind of witch encyclopedia.” Davina shot back, crossing her arms over his chest. “What do you mean something is up? I talked to him this morning, he was fine.”
