A lot of ppl have noted and commented on the trend of over-pathologizing seemingly "normal" emotions and behavior and I have to wonder if this is some kind of subconscious reaction to older generations who would de-pathologize what we now consider obvious signs of mental illness. I, for example, have experienced panic attacks on a semi regular basis since I was a child, but I only realized that's what I was dealing with well into adulthood because my parents treated this like it was a personality quirk rather than a illness that could be treated.
