I don't know what to call this, and I don't know how to write this because I'm trying. It's this kind of despair hope. The eventual heat death of the sun will kill us and we have so much time, so many lives, so many brilliant minds we can figure it out. This Asmovian ending of all energy become one to be the catalyst of the big bang rather then this sad fart of an ending. And it feels like it starts so much with our humanity. And in that humanity I find a fervor, a connection everything that I feel is greater than any religion. I do not believe in some higher power, or divinity. And I do believe in this connection of the individual to their world. To their fellow human. To the tree in their yard. To the wild and weird cosmic rays that seek to cook our flesh of the sun. To the billions or trillions of humans it would take to survive a journey to the Andromeda galaxy. I just think we're such a weird wild little being and we're beautiful.
You're beautiful. You weird little solar ray resistant freak. You're so cool for just that.
Mutuals who I have hardly spoken with but we instead communicate through silently liking and reblogging each other's posts... I hope you're all having a lovely day β¨

There was a massive shift in how our culture understood morality when, after World War II, the general public realized βjust following ordersβ was not an excuse for crimes against humanity. Now we need another moral shift in which we decide, as a culture, that βfor the benefit of the stockholdersβ is not an excuse for anything.
We kind of need to relearn theΒ βjust following ordersβ part again
Late last year in the US, a Senator with a military background released a video reminding military personnel that they have the legal right to refuse unlawful orders, and the President of the United States tried to have him tried for treason. [x]
So. Yeah.

Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue
It really is! Life is always going to have uncomfortable and unpleasant things. And we have a choice: engage with them or not. This doesn't mean we have to tolerate them - rather it means we want to have a willingness to engage with unpleasant and hard things. We choose to, and we often choose too because there's something very meaningful to us about engaging with the hard thing. In fact if you started something willingly and find yourself more recently only tolerating it; then it's time to reconnect with how is what you're doing or how are you behaving meaningful to you.
And you can choose not to engage. You can choose to distract from, to avoid, to try and rationalize away, or even blunt the hard and difficult thought/feeling/memory/experience with substances. Sometimes this may even be a meaningful and important choice! And we must learn to actively choose to do these things. To identify that's how you want to be in that moment.
If you want to learn to be willingly engaged with something hard, the first place to start is yourself. Willing to accept you do not control your thoughts, feelings, sensations, or even memories. So you have a choice. Push, punch, kick, and fight these things that you have no control over. They'll come back. They always come back.
Or
Willingly allow these hard experiences, these hard thoughts and feelings, even when they're overwhelming, to be there with you. Give them the space they need. Be willing to open up to them and maybe even listen to what they're trying to tell you. You'll learn a lot. About yourself, about others, and about how you want to be in the moment. And that you always have a choice to make in the moment. Especially the hard one.
Ownership meant a physical copy. Now you own nothing and can't find what you want across multiple streaming platforms.
Bring back headphones that plug in. Bring back expandable memory. Bring back owning media.
They're currently doing this with home computing. A lot of these data centers may be a scheme to end home computing and require renting virtual ram. Literally outsourcing your computing needs to rented data centers. It's pretty bleak.
One more in the W column for Japan.

I think companies with lots of desk workers should install this by default

I don't care if they're the highest grossing movies on planet freakin Earth, you say "Avatar" and everyone and their mom still thinks that bald little bitch and his magic cow. Soggy James can keep his millions, he'll never have the streets.
