Stack and Mary as Grandparents would Include
Mary:
The kind of grandma who always smells like flour and vanilla because she bakes too much when the grandkids visit.
She keeps her rosary beads on the nightstand, but the grandkids think they’re just "grandma’s shiny beads."
She calls every grandkid "baby" regardless of their age. Even when they’re teenagers, she’ll pat their cheek and go, "You’ll always be my baby."
Rocks the rocking chair like a throne grandkids pile on her lap, even if they’re too big.
She still fusses over Stack the same way she fusses over the babies. “Don’t let Papa eat all the cookies, he’s supposed to be watching his sugar.”
Secretly slips extra candy or a dollar into her grandkids’ hands when their parents aren’t looking.
Stack:
The "cool" grandpa who lets the grandkids get away with murder. If Mary says no candy before dinner, Stack is sneaking them a chocolate bar in the garage.
Teaches them how to play pool or cards way too early, swearing he’s “teaching life skills.”
Always has a grandkid riding on his shoulders. He pretends his back doesn’t hurt, even though Mary gives him the look.
Will not tolerate anyone messing with his grandkids. Protective Papa Bear energy never left him.
Let's them wear his hats and shades little kids running around in giant sunglasses and a fedora is his idea of heaven.
Proudly brags to his friends about them, even exaggerates stories: “Yeah, my grandson’s only six, but he’s got an arm like a pro ball player.”
Together:
They host loud Sunday dinners where Mary cooks enough food to feed a small army, and Stack sneaks bites out of the pot even while she scolds him.
The grandkids stay up past bedtime at their house Mary pretends to be strict about it, but she’s just as bad as Stack when she’s cuddled on the couch watching cartoons with them.
Holidays are big. Mary’s all about decorating, and Stack’s about spoiling the grandkids with presents.
The kids always end up learning a little bit of sass from Stack and a little bit of fire from Mary. Basically, mini versions of them running around.
If any of the grandkids cry, Mary is the comfort and Stack is the distraction. He’ll start doing something goofy or pulling faces until they’re laughing
