Ugh your wip makes me realise how much insecurity the MC has of not being fae like the amount of self hatred they would have and still being their kindself is insane but yeah the fic will be worth waiting i know it ๐ค
Ah, thanks!!
We see a huge amount MC's mortal-insecurity come out in book 2, so much that it influences the plot! Mc's self-comparison to Fae in general (and feeling like they are lacking) is a big emotional arc for them in the sequel.
But I feel like it starts here, with the whole comparison to Lustre. As terrible as Lustre is, I think it may have been impossible for MC not to hold themselves up to Lustre, KNOWING Kieran fell in love with that outward appearance. I mean, personally, I know I would have done the same, you know? We're only human.
I didn't *love* the way that MC was portrayed in this scene in the story...I mean I get it, to a point? The motivations for MC to run off were kind of murky. Somewhere between jealousy and insecurity, I guess. I personally don't like or get behind the jealousy aspect, because duh, obviously Kieran has ZERO feelings for Lustre other than hatred - she cursed him!! If anything, they're (im)mortal enemies now. It's obvious to us as the reader and should be obvious to MC that they aren't together.
But, sure, I can see how it would hurt to come upon a beautiful ex touching Kieran's cheek and taunting him (and you) with how much better she knows and understands him, when you did not realize they were once together and he fell so hard for her that she LITERALLY broke his heart.
So I thought I could slightly tweak the motivations here to make more sense and portray MC to be a bit less, eh..."hysterical woman stereotype", for lack of a better phrase.
There are other things I want to tweak in this scene too, I can't wait to finish it! Thanks for being excited :D and giving me an excuse to ramble
