searing jolts scorch the veins that bloom from his chest & agony awakens in the form of pain's detriment . regulating the breath that spits from his lungs , he holds a weak hand to the girl whose fingers blossom with a ray of healing light . wearing a grimace he wishes only to do away with , he cants his head gently from side to side — too much movement will only strain him further . ❛ please . . . stay your magic . there is no cause for — ❜ he inhales sharply , ❛ concern . ❜ & as the pulsing ache 'neath his flesh does grant him reprieve , he places a gentle palm atop kairi's shoulder . ❛ i promise you . and i thank you . sincerely . ❜

it comes naturally, though it does part from his lips a bit throatier than usual. such was to be expected of course, given how the sun had yet to surpass the horizon over yonder. clearing his throat, ignis tugs at the cuffs of his gloves and makes his way over to the young girl. " you might want to blame prompto for that. i believe it was his little photoshoot in the grotto that delayed us. " he comes to a halt a few steps behind kairi, and sucks in a deep breath. ah ... though he didn't particularly care for the vermin or insects that came with camping in the open, one simply could not deny the beauty that came with its views  — nor the fresh air that came with it. " but, sometimes delays aren't without their merits. like this sunrise, for example. "

❛ at least the pictures turned out nicely. ❜ prompto had set aside some time to share them–––– as well as many of the other pictures he'd taken throughout their journey–––– with her before they'd all turned in for the night. kairi had been in awe of his dedication to preserve memories of their trip. it had reminded her of sitting on the clock tower, ice cream in hand, leaning over sora's shoulder to see the screen of his gummiphone. going from picture to picture, listening to his stories, & pretending they weren't living on borrowed time. it had kept her mind turning long after she should have been asleep–––– maybe she should have been taking more pictures now that she had stories to tell.

she pulled her knees to her chest, making herself small as though that would hide whatever it was that ignis was seeing as she debated on how to answer the question. ❛ i miss it. ❜ she finally admitted. ❛ sometimes i think about dropping everything & going back home, but i know that's not really what i want. &, even if i did go back, my friends aren't–––– they're––––. ❜ in an unreality, which, even if kairi could properly explain, would be leaping & bounding over the line of keeping world order, so she settled for ambiguity. ❛ they're somewhere i can't reach yet. & home wouldn't feel like home without them. so, i find pieces of home where i can. & that's enough. ❜ it had to be. until the three of them were safe & sound on the islands again.

cinderella called out to the young girl as she rushed to greet her in the courtyard , slender arms quickly reach to wrap her up in an embrace ! the last time the princess had looked upon the redhead , she was half ella's size / there now stood a young woman before her . one she was not sure she'd ever get the chance to see again , given the circumstances of the past ... of course since then , she & the other princesses had been steadily informed on the progression of the destiny trio's journey -- both as a company and individuals ( many thanks to queen minnie ! )

she linked their arms at the elbow , swiftly turning them toward the castle entrance .

it was an invitation that kairi had been excited to receive, but anxious to accept. the brief time she had spent in the company of her fellow princesses of heart had been wonderful, despite the circumstances of their meeting at the time, but it had also been brief, there had been no time to think about their differences when they had all been through such a troubling event together. hearing from ella, however, it was all she could thinking about. she wasn't a princess the way many of the others were, & kairi couldn't help but be afraid that their differences would be too extreme. that she would end up disappointing them.

in the end, it was a discussion with aqua that had led to her accepting ella's request. she had done her best to reassure her worries, & had advised spending time with one of the few people in all the worlds who shared her title could do her heart good.

her concerns had been set aside until she arrived in the courtyard & realized that she hadn't been sure what to expect. was she meant to curtsy or bow? should she try to be more formal? should she have worn something nicer? she was sure her heartbeat was echoing across the entire courtyard at the princess' appearance. but, before she could dwell on any of it too much, ella pulled her into a hug with such familiarity that kairi felt immediate relief.

&, despite her earlier uncertainty, she meant it. already, aqua's words were coming true–––– she was happy to be there, to catch up, to maintain a friendship that had been a bright light in a dark hour.

there would be plenty of time to discuss everything that had happened between the return of their hearts & all that had happened after the war, & there was no need to begin with a story so heavy so soon after they'd reunited–––– she would start with the most recent update as they walked to the castle together.

I've had a couple of friends have issues with this, and I nearly fell victim to this myself. If an account you're friends with messages you asking if someone messaged you something weird in a server, do NOT heed this. Block/report the account. They have been hacked. As a PSA. PLEASE, DO NOT MESSAGE ANYONE WITH THE HANDLE MIKESUPPORT_(random number) they will get your email and use that to hack into your discord account. It's also highly recommended you change your email.
