This might be a hot take but i think theres something to be said about how SOME people seem to despise all of daryls canon/female love interests EXCEPT. For Connie, who is the only woman who doesn't talk.

Like people will gladly ship Daryl with Rick, Jesus, Aaron, etc, but the second it comes to his actual show love interests theyre called badly written or forced..

I’m not sure what Connie’s inability to verbally communicate has to do with this but from my perspective, Daryl had a lot of chemistry with Connie. Their characters worked well with each other and Connie challenged Daryl while not pressuring him into making any decisions that would separate him from his family (Leah). I can’t comment on Isabelle since I haven’t watched the spinoff but I can say with certainty that most of us preferred Daryl with Connie because they meshed well without demanding much from each other which is something i believe Daryl needed since he’s emotionally guarded.

Its not the fact that Connie doesnt communicate, cause Connie communicates alot, and Daryl learns sign language to talk with her. Its the fact she doesnt TALK. The reason why im pointing out that shes the only character that doesn't talk is because it is common that female characters are seen as annoying, ESPECIALLY opinionated female characters.

Leah, Carol, and Isabelle (I have not watched the dd spinoff, im only going off what ive heard other people talk about in regards to isabelle) are opinionated characters, who push daryl to make decisions that viewers may or may not agree with.

Connie is a good character, I like her and Daryl together and ship them, they have natural chemistry. But Connie being a character that doesn't push Daryl is also where this opinion stems from. Connie doesn't talk, and also doesn't push Daryl to make decisions that people might see as annoying.

This isnt shitting on donnie in any way cause i love the ship, its just something ive noticed alot that often the only female character people will ship daryl with is Connie and will shit on his other female love interests/counterparts, saying theyre annoying or badly written and forced (especially in Leah's case)

Im a Desus fan so this isn't putting down Desus but i think the concept of calling Daryl and Leah forced when you genuinely have to be watching the show in slow mode to catch most Desus moments is genuinely crazy to me 😭😭😭

Also using "oh Daryls asexual" as an excuse. Like its a fine headcanon, but hes literally not asexual, that is not a reason for why you think Leah and daryl dont work because they literally have sex in the show.

"Norman reedus said Daryls character is asexual" and its like. Thats cool but he's literally not. He has sex in the show. Hes a grown man and has sex in the show. Norman reedus made the claim that daryl is 'somewhat asexual' in 2014, and i highly doubt Norman reedus is at ALL educated on that term, right now OR in 2014

#i havent seen the DD spinoff yet so i can speak for isabella but from what ive seen she gets alot of hate #leah gets SO much hate and i dont even think the reasons are particularly good #id also say this happens with carol #the ammount of people ive seen dismissing Caryl because caryl is #like a mother #is insanity #im not saying you gotta like caryl but it feels odd to me that shes put aside as a mother to him #when thats not their dynamic at all and its never been shown that way #also i wanna say i do like Connie this isnt to say shes a bad character i adore her #i just think there something to be said for how shes typically the only female character SOME people will ship woth daryl #the walking dead #daryl dixon #daryl dixon twd
