Sarah - 2016 I was living in a small town in Northern Michigan, managing a movie theater when I met Sarah. She was a sweet, small town woman, 18 years old and fresh out of school, interested in modeling. I was really only photographing my wife, (model & writer Liz LaPoint) at that point in my artistic journey, but Sarah expressed a sincere appreciation for my work and I liked her and thought she would create some lovely images. The day of shooting was really fun. She drove, and took me to all of these crazy beautiful locations, and changed it to a ton of outfits, and was so natural, free and a joy to work with. The images we created that day are still among my favorite, and she loved them and had been sharing them enthusiastically. Her family was less than enthused about her modeling ambitions, given that they were ultra religiously conservative, and they had a strong overreaction to the art we created.

I haven't spoken to her in quite awhile but I have heard that she has a family and is doing well, and I am happy to hear that. I hope she is proud of the beautiful images we created, and happy that that her incredible beauty and grace has been preserved forever.

So, this is the beginning of the end. I have decided to return to tumblr to document my life's journey in life and love. It didn't turn out the way I thought it would but in many ways it was better than I imagined it could be. This is the story of a poor kid from Northern Michigan who ended up living in NYC for a decade and Southern California for just as long, making art, movies and capturing the beautiful and the bizarre.
