Eridians can speak several sentences at once due to their language being so musical, and some more complex words/sounds may use multiple melodies overlaid. Pronouns all use a singular, simple melody so it's easier for pebbles to understand, learn, and use them.

Rocky has overlaid several of them - 'being of high importance,' 'sibling,' 'ward,' 'dearest friend,' et cetera. It's very sweet, but something interesting to come out of it is that Rocky's several conversations all pause for a moment if he says his combined Grace pronoun; it's unintentional but it symbolically shows how he will, literally and figuratively, stop everything for Grace because of how much he cares.

Adrian had a similar pronoun for a brief time when Rocky returned but xey* preferred the traditional 'mate' pronoun because it's what xey're used to and it's what xey prefer. That, and as a fellow scientist and Eridian, it's much easier to stick to the multiple-conversation flow Eridians prefer, and while xey did think the multi-pronoun was cute xey couldn't stick to it and speak as fast as xey wanted.
