I think about these two panels an unhealthily amount of times per week, thanks to my friends observation that LoHaC is on the same side as Davesprite. I read into minor shit like this way too often and end up hating everything this comic has to offer in terms of referencing it's own plot countless amounts of times, whether intentional or not. Every time I think I'm free of the dastardly clutches of the emotional turmoil that is Homestuck; it ropes me back into it's vicious torture labyrinth.

I was just going to respond to you in the tags, but this deserves an entire post at this point. I never knew how to phrase how Dirk's "I failed" made me feel in relation to both panels, but it's so fucking gut wrenching when you start to think about Bro's perspective. There's no doubt that Bro was a cold, unfeeling figure in Dave's life - I just can't help but feel like there's this especially fucked up unique experience Bro went through (not more than Dave, obviously). Even if there was NO hint of guilt throughout his time with Dave, you can't tell me there's not some indescribable feeling to be elicited from the fact Davesprite still thought AND fought for his own brother despite all the shit he went through at his hands. Not enough people talk about the entire one-sided bond Davesprite had with Bro in relation to Dave's ENTIRE narrative. DS' feathers being scattered in a frenzy in the panel where Bro dies? Him having to live on without his older brother? The guy he practically fucking idolized and also coming to the realization he's practically a void in his own narrative? Are you fucking kidding me? I'm going to die. Sighs. Ugh. Sighs. Doomed brotherhood, or whatever the kids call it these days. Sorry for rambling. Striders make me fucking crazy.

DS makes me insane. all those bright ass orange feathers around Bro's body drives me NUTS wondering what the heck happened both during the battle and right afterwards. whether there were any sort of words exchanged between them or not. like holy hell these brothers. they injure me

I know the air of mystique surrounding the guardians (Bro especially, him being an elusive asshole is his entire shtick) is on Purpose, but oh my god. give me a fucking break.
