Need people to understand that the “hoarder” isn’t the mom who bought extra toilet paper and soap in case she has to quarantine and can’t get to the store, it’s this guy:
Interesting how all of the memes and jokes I've seen on this issue have depicted a "Karen" hoarding supplies, when all 3 of the actual news stories I've seen about true hoarding have been men.
ok kids repeat after me
vinegar and bleach makes chlorine gas, which is highly toxic
ammonia and bleach makes chloramine, which is highly toxic
rubbing alcohol and bleach makes chloroform, which is highly toxic
hydrogen peroxide and vinegar makes peracetic/peroxyacetic acid, which can be highly corrosive
be careful about your cleaning products and dont get yourself injured or potentially killed ok
why it so dangerous to be clean
As someone who’s job is to handle chemicals like this, I need to state that this information is IMPORTANT. Plenty of people have accidentally injured or killed themselves at home because they didn’t know what kind of reaction certain substances have with one another. Play it safe and don’t mix chemicals.
Also don’t use bleach to clean up urine it’ll create chloramine bc of the ammonia in it and you can give yourself chemical pnemonia that way
Every time I see “helpful” posts telling people to mix these things while cleaning I cringe with my entire body.
Rubbing alcohol + bleach not only creates chloroform - dangerous enough - but when that chloroform is exposed to air+sunlight, it creates phosgene, an even more dangerously toxic gas which can kill you with very little warning up to 48 hours after exposure.
If you forget about this warning until you realise you’ve accidentally created phosgene, you need to leave the area immediately and call emergency services. (999 in many places/911 in the US) and tell them exactly what happened.
Phosgene smells like newly mown hay or green corn, but the scent is mild and you may not notice it.
If you’re concerned you might not remember these warnings, try writing them down on a card or sheet of paper and keeping it where you’ll see it when you get out your cleaning products (for instance, taped to the inside of your cupboard door or to your cleaning caddy). Make it visually clear at a glance that they aren’t recipes for good products, but warnings.
Social Abuse and Communication Abuse: Abuse that will affect the way socialize and see yourself within a social group, and the way you’re able to express and communicate. Bold or copy ones done to you, italicize and copy if you’re not sure! Alternatively, just count how many apply to you and write down the numbers.
Communication abuse:
abuser punishing you for not showing enough interest in what they’re saying
abuser deciding what are appropriate reactions to their words and actions
abuser humiliating you for showing excitement/happiness
abuser shaming you for not showing will to participate when they think you should
abuser punishing you for a certain face expression(s)
abuser punishing you for having a certain emotional reaction to their words and actions
abuser demanding you shut down your emotions except for the ones they find convenient
abuser punishing you for contradicting them/challenging them on anything they say
abuser punishing you for confronting them on their lies
abuser comparing you to others to point out how you’re lacking/somehow worse than everyone else
abuser using any kind of inexperience/lack of knowledge/lack of skill to humiliate and depict you as a failure or an idiot
abuser making you extremely self-conscious about how you look and sound while you’re trying to socialize/communicate
abuser making you feel like everyone is noticing the same faults in you
abuser forcing you to consider how you’re viewed by them to the point of being unable to focus on what you want to say/express/do
abuser watching you when you’re not aware of it and proceeding to humiliate/hurt you for what you were doing while you thought you were unwatched
abuser making you feel like you’re always watched and judged by repeatedly catching you off guard and punishing you for it
abuser disregarding all your expressions of needs and emotions, letting you know that what you want and need is not important, and making you feel stupid for even voicing it
abuser ignoring your expression of pain or repeatedly insisting that you stop expressing it, have no reason to express it and finding your expression of pain an annoyance or a bother or even an attack on them
abuser hurting you even worse in reaction to your expression of pain, convincing you that the more you express it, the more they will hurt you, effectively making you scared of expressing pain and connecting it to further punishments
abuser taking your expressions of emotions as a personal insult and accusing you of hurting them on purpose, or even punishing you for it, just for expressing your personal emotions
Social abuse:
abuser showing off their control and authority over you in front of others
abuser humiliating you in front of others
abuser ordering you around, minimizing your presence and importance, and twisting your words and expressions in front of others
abuser talking in your name to others and making decisions for you
abuser making you seem selfish/cruel/inconsiderate/rude/mean to others if you disagree with their decisions
abuser publicly criticizing your appearance, actions, achievements or problems
abuser talking as if they’re the absolute authority on who you are and what your potential is
abuser talking about you to others as if you’re beneath them, and as if it’s okay to ignore your needs and interests completely, and not feel guilty or concerned about it
abuser encouraging and succeeding in having other people approve of abuse/perpetuate the abuse as well
abuser convincing other people the abuse is for your own good and getting validation for it
abuser having people on their side and rutting them against you
abuser successfully convincing other people you’re just trying to get attention and they should ignore you
abuser spreading information about you to your peers/friends/teachers that humiliates, ridicules, invalidates or villainaizes you
abuser painting a picture of you as a liar, hysterical, too emotional, delusional, crazy, unstable and not to be trusted in order to make sure you will not be believed when you try to speak out against them, or about any issue that bothers you
abuser telling others about abuse and trauma you’ve been thru without your permission/blaming the symptoms you show on trauma of their choosing
abuser telling others you’re abusive/selfish and twisting your intentions and actions to vilify you
abuser telling others about your mental illness, sexual orientation or other sensitive personal information that can easily be used against you, without your permission
abuser isolating you from your friends, support, and community and convincing you that nobody will stand on your side when it matters
abuser punishing you for who you choose to include in your social life and finding ways to make you regret it in order to dictate who you’re allowed to talk to
abuser stalking/eavesdropping/invading your privacy and using information they found against you/to control you
abuser convincing you that even people you thought care about you couldn’t possibly care because of who you are as a person, and shaming you for thinking for a second that you could be lovable to someone
abuser reacting to anything you say as if it was a stupid and unnecessary thing to say, and using it as a proof of you being of less intelligence
abuser continually reminding you how badly will others think of you if you continue doing what they disapprove of
abuser continually finding something wrong with you and pointing out how will others react to it if you don’t change it
abuser lying to you about what others have said about you/what they think of you
abuser deciding how others perceive you and what they think of you
abuser deciding what your place is in society and reminding you to “know your place” if you act outside the role
abuser displaying anger and punishing you if others give you positive attention
abuser denying others the chance to give you positive attention (taking their attention, getting them away from you, interrupting and starting a new topic when they’re trying to talk to you)
abuser making a show of caring about you, only to change it into ridicule and humiliation
abuser putting you in situation they already know is going to end up in public humiliation
abuser having you spend time in an abusive and hostile environment, being forced to endure socializing with people who will take any chance to attack and emotionally abuse you, without the ability to confront them or escape
abuser forcing you to change what you think of yourself based on how they see you, having you look at yourself only from their point of view and deciding it’s who you are
abuser taking away your means of communication (phone, internet, and any other means you would usually use to communicate with others)
If you bold more than 5 of these, you’ve been abused and sabotaged from ever establishing a healthy way of expressing, communicating and socializing with others. In other words, no you’re not bad at expressing, you’re not bad at communication, you’re not at fault for struggling to socialize, this was done to you to sabotage you from ever having a healthy start. (also if you’re struggling with social anxiety it’s very likely abuse has played a part in it, or at least made it worse)
Tonight a grown man (almost 40) who is a father of 3 threw a penny at a woman right in front of me. The woman turned around, made eye contact with me, and asked who threw it. I said, “it wasn’t me. It was him.” Then the guy lied and said he didn’t know what I was talking about. The woman was really upset and stormed away. Then the grown ass man aggressively asked me why I “snitched on him.” I said I wasn’t going to have her thinking I threw something at her and he shouldn’t have done it. Then he raised his voice at me, started calling me a dumb bitch, a liar, and said I was the one who threw the penny. He got so aggressive that he stood up to get in my face. This is a grown man who realistically weighs AT LEAST 350+ pounds. I told him he wasn’t going to intimidate me or make me apologize for something he did. Then the security took his ass out and made him leave. He then sent in his brother to call me a “skank” and a “bitch” before he also got kicked out by security. Ask me again why I post so much about men treating women badly.

It is transgender day of remembrance today and I can't help feeling bitter because it's all over the news in my country BUT in the history of my country only ONE transgender individual has EVER been murdered. Countless women have been murdered (and we have high rates of violence/murder of women in my country compared to other western countries) and there is no grief for that, no media coverage, no calls for drastic change to protect women.
The death of one man will always be considered more important than the death of countless women.
'Sex gone wrong' defences work almost 50 per cent of the time, with perpetrators receiving lighter sentences – and they're on a rise.
Last week, the trial of the man suspected of killing British backpacker Grace Millane finally began.
The 22-year-old from Wickford, Essex, had been on a round-the-world trip when she was strangled to death in the Auckland apartment of the 27-year-old man she had met for a Tinder date last December, the eve of her 22nd birthday.
Jurors have heard that after she died, the accused took “intimate” photos of her body, watched pornography, and went on to have on another Tinder date the following evening, while Grace’s body was kept in a suitcase in his room.
Prosecutors allege Grace was strangled to death in the man’s apartment - but the case for the defence? They claim that Grace died by accident during consensual sex, saying “acts designed to enhance sexual pleasure went wrong”.
This defence will mean Grace’s family will have to endure a month-long trial during where her sexual behaviours and preferences are openly discussed. Her parents, David and Gill, are sitting just feet from the accused.
Grace’s story is a shocking one - but sadly not unique.
‘Consensual rough sex’ defences to the killing or injuring of women and girls are successfully being used to get lighter convictions and sentences.
In fact, the consensual violence defence has been used in the case of 59 deaths of women since records began. Only in the case of 36 pf those deaths was the defence not supported by the jury, and the accused were convicted of murder.
Of the remaining cases, 16 resulted in manslaughter convictions, two were found not guilty, and in three no charges were brought. Two cases - Grace’s included - are ongoing.
Currently, so-called ‘sex gone wrong’ defences are successful roughly 45 per cent of the time.
Around 60 per cent of women who are killed in alleged ‘rough sex’ die from being strangled, and a third of the dead women just met their killers on the same day as their murder.
What’s worse, the use of the ‘consensual rough sex’ defences to the killing or injuring of women and girls is on the rise in courts.
According to the most recent available statistics, there were 20 uses of the defence in 2017, compared to just two in 1997 - a tenfold increase in 20 years.
These statistics have been collated by We Can’t Consent To This (WCCTT), an initiative looking to change laws on domestic violence, with the consensual violence plea at the heart.
WCCTT are campaigning to amend the Domestic Abuse Bill in England and Wales to end the use of these defences in court.
The bill has sadly been temporarily halted due to the dissolution of parliament ahead of the general election in December. But two MPs - Harriet Harman and Mark Garnier - have announced they will take action over the use of ‘rough sex’ defences.
Its message is a simple one: women can’t consent to their own death. And it’s one that is brutally encapsulated in the dozens of true stories it has on its website - stories like Grace’s.
There’s Natalie Connolly, a 26-year-old mum who died at the bottom of her stairs in 2016 after suffering 40 separate injuries, including serious internal trauma, vaginal arterial bleeding, a fractured eye socket and facial wounds.
Her partner of only a few months, millionaire property developer John Broadhurst, claimed it was consensual, alcohol and drug-fuelled rough sex. He was convicted of manslaughter and got only three years and eight months.
Then there is Laura Huteson, a 21-year-old who was killed by a man she had met just that day. Her killer Jason Gaskell had held a knife to her neck while having sex and cut through her carotid artery.
Gaskell, the only surviving witness, claimed he didn’t intend to use the knife to kill Laura. He was ultimately charged with murder but admitted manslaughter and got just six years in prison. Courts heard how Gaskell had strangled a woman 11 days earlier.
Chloe Miazek was a 20-year-old student who had been out drinking in Aberdeen when she had been thrown out of a nightclub for being too drunk. She was approached by Mark Bruce, 32, while waiting at a bus stop and within two hours he had strangled her.
Bruce claimed it had been an accident and denied murder. He pleaded culpable homicide - the Scottish equivalent of manslaughter - and got just six years inside.
The examples make for tough reading - yet unbelievably, the subject of ‘consensual rough sex’ remains fraught with grey areas, legally speaking at least.
But for WCCTT founder Fiona Mackenzie, it reads starkly black and white.
“The law should be clear it shouldn’t matter if she consented to rough sex, that shouldn’t matter at all, it shouldn’t be part of a case,” she tells Tyla.
Fiona was inspired to create WCCTT when she heard MP Harriet Harman speak about Natalie Connelly’s death on BBC Woman’s Hour.
She - like a lot of other women she knew - were horrified by John Broadhurst’s short sentence and concerned by the frequency in which these kinds of cases were appearing in the news.
On Christmas Eve last year, Fiona decided to collate all of the cases she could immediately and launched the website.
Fiona explains how in some cases, even police officers investigating these cases, coroners, and crime scene officers are then “writing them off” because they look like sex accidents gone wrong.
“This defence allows people to switch their brains off,” she explains. “They think ‘other people must get up to this, who knows what goes on in the bedroom, maybe she asked for it.’
“That’s why it’s so successful. It’s the ultimate in victim blaming - blaming women for their own death.”
In all cases, jury’s have to go off the accused’s word alone. The victim can’t offer their side of the story, as is the sad situation with Grace.
“We need a change in attitude in the criminal justice system so people know that women do not consent to this violence,” Fiona adds.
Aside from changing the law, Fiona hopes WCCTT can help to raise awareness about the dangers of violent sex more generally.
“There’s a huge issue with young women being choked, punched, slapped or just horrendously assaulted as part of consensual sex by men that they are dating,” Fiona explains.
“We know this, we know its really dangerous to strangle someone, but for some reason young men are able to override this knowledge and are choking their partners.”
Recent figures from the ONS showed an estimated 4.3 million women have experienced some form of domestic abuse, and one in five have experienced some type of sexual assault since the age of 16 in England and Wales.
Police receive a domestic abuse call every 30 seconds, while two women are killed by an ex or current partner every single week in England and Wales alone.
It’s clear the increase in cases of violent sex and the use of the consensual rough sex defence goes hand-in-hand with the normalisation of violence against women, and it needs to be stopped.
“but for some reason young men are able to override this knowledge and are choking their partners.”
WE ALL KNOW THE REASON, violent and misogynistic porn consumption from increasingly younger ages
if you’re being prosecuted for violence against women and it comes to light that you watch bdsm porn, you should be immediately incriminated
*incinerated
Tinder date on the eve of her birthday? That really says a lot about her character.
It’s a disgusting act that was commited, but it was the result of two parties.
I am sure pornography played a part, but the culture of casual sex is the real culprit
Oh my g o d
No, you conservative weirdo, it’s not casual sex that’s the problem. It’s misogyny.
The dude didn’t kill her because he had some kind of prejudice against women, he did it because he’s a sick creep.
You can’t have your cake and eat it too, with casual sex comes the objectification of women. When you replace love with lust you get violence.
Keep digging yourself deeper you moronic sick fuck. There is a huge amount of violence against women within traditional, patriarchal relationships. It’s two sides of the same coin, the right sees women as private property, the left sees women as public property; in both cases women are objectified. This man was a misogynist who got off on hurting women, that makes him a sick creep and a woman-hater.
One of the best things I’ve ever read is “how can you hate porn when you have SEX like in PORN?”
I GOT IT
DO NOT SUPPORT SALVATION ARMY
I can back this up. It isn’t only their shelters.
I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.
My friend quit, and I’ve not given them a dime of my money since then.
Do not give to the Salvation Army.
Do Not. Give. To. Salvation. Army
My turn.
I’m a wildfire and disaster logistics specialist.
I deal with a lot of agencies who provide disaster relief.
I used to say the Salvation Army’s disaster services were the one (literally the ONE) good thing they did.
They would come in, set up a canteen trailer, make and pass out hot coffee and donated food in a disaster, usually being one of the first agencies to get there and the last to leave.
Then I found out.
Every time they did this, regardless of if they were actually invited or deployed by the agency in charge (usually FEMA, sometimes others) they would SELF-DEPLOY. Meanjng they would just show up. Ok. That’s not TOO bad, sometimes agencies have to take initiative and get there before the red tape is sorted out. BUT. They, after they left at the end of the incident, they would send FEMA or the host agency a BILL. They used one or two paid employees (usually the driver of the truck and a supervisor); and many VOLUNTEERS, but they would bill for EVERYONE’s Labor at standard federal rates. They would bill for the food they distributed even though it was all donated by another agency or private parties. They would bill for the coffee they made and the supplies. Except they would use electricity from the shelter location, water from donations or from the shelter, and in many cases, they would get the coffee and industrial filters DONATED, but bill for them at retail prices.
Don’t FUCKING give to the Salvation Army.
Donation season is coming up and this is important. I have friends who depend on help from shelters so this is important
fun fact: basically every mod on r/legaladvice is a cop. if you see a bunch of comments in a row that have been deleted for “offering bad advice”, you can replace “reddit” in the url with “ceddit” to see the same page with all the deleted comments still there, and roughly half the time the “"bad advice”“ is literally anything that suggests that maybe OP shouldn’t trust the cops
take a look at this thread. Ouch
in this thread, the OP talks about how a local cop in their small town in Ohio is stalking him and, in particular, his fiancée, to the point that they’re afraid to leave their home.
A lot of the deleted comments are recommending cameras on the house and the cars
a lot more of them are recommending OP file a complaint, and refuse to leave until he gets the forms he needs
and a few are discussing the way small-town cops work with little to no oversight, and that it might be good to talk to someone higher up the chain.
none of these comments needed to be deleted. none of these comments are harmful or malicious in anyway. All of these comments are helping OP learn and exercise his rights as a citizen, and all of them were deleted. What all the comments have in common is that it would cause the cop to face any kind of consequences for behavior that, were a civilian doing it, would be illegal.

I saw everyone on twitter tearing Emma Watson apart for saying she’s self - partnered instead of single and decided to watch her interview for British Vogue to know what the hell was she trying to say with that. I was very surprised to find a 30 minute video in which amongst other things she talks about the following:
She felt undeserving when she was appointed as UN Women goodwill ambassador and sought out Gloria Steinem to learn about feminist activism.
She thinks the criticism she received for being a white feminist was useful because it made her educate herself.
She says there’s a desperate need to reform the education system in the UK to change the way they are taught the history of how Britain has been involved in foreign affairs and how they profited from slavery.
She felt anxious about approaching 30 because there’s a lot of pressure to have a husband and a baby by then and she’s still figuring her life out.
She was so young when she was casted in Harry Potter that she doesn’t remember much of her life before it and she went to therapy to deal with her issues with fame. She used to feel very guilty for being unhappy because she thought she should enjoy fame more.
The interviewer is a transgender woman and they discuss transgender issues for a while. Emma is in regular contact with a trans child which makes the topic of trans rights emotional for her because she’s very anxious for this kid’s safety.
She talks about her role as Meg March in the new Little Women movie and defends that unlike what many people say choosing to be a wife and a mother doesn’t make Meg a less feminist character and quotes a line from the movie, “Just because my dreams are different than yours it doesn’t mean they are unimportant.”
She wishes more people would realize she’s not Hermione Granger but also understands why they want to see that in her because Hermione is a symbol for her too.
She used to think she could never be happy without a partner and now that she has learnt to navigate that better and is genuinely happy single she’s started to think of herself as self - partnered in contrast to the time when she thought of herself as single = lonely.
Every media outlet decided to focus in an out of context quote from the three minutes she talked about her dating life when the actual interview had a lot of depth and way more important things were discussed. I’m sad and angry but not surprised.
The victim told cops that she got pregnant from the man seen in the video and he took her to the clinic to have an abortion.
Hey users of Porn Hub: can you swear that you never watched any videos featuring this child?
CBD and THC use during early pregnancy can disrupt fetal development
Brain and fetal development damage caused by exposure to CBD and THC are very similar defects seen in fetal alcohol syndrome.
the number of trans women that have committed horrific murders in just the last 3 years is fucking baffling. The Eaton Township shooting, Andrea Balcer killing her parents AND her dog - like women just straight up do not commit crimes at this rate LOL
But males sure as fuck do! Stay mad that radfems are going to continue to point out that males are males!

And reddit is just gonna let this thrive. Almost a quarter million members (MEN) endorsing and fetishising rape.
If you actually look through this Reddit (if you can stomach it / if it’s not too triggering) there’s a gif where you can clearly see the woman resisting in the porn video and the guy responds by hitting her and throwing objects at her. She looks distraught, disorientated and very upset. It’s heart breaking.
the woody allen thing
In case anybody doesn’t know about Woody Allen:
Woody Allen was accused in 1992 of molesting his girlfriend Mia Farrow’s daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was seven years old. He later married Soon-Yi Previn, Mia Farrow’s then-teenaged daughter. He was Mia’s children’s father figure for many years.
This case is extremely controversial for a lot of reasons, but I’ll just list some of the facts:
source 1 - source 2 - source 3 - source 4
Dylan’s claims have been consistent her entire life. She said that the molestation began when Woody Allen took her into the attic of Mia Farrow’s home.
Woody Allen had been in therapy for “inappropriate behavior” with a child psychologist before the abuse allegations were ever presented to the authorities or made public.
Seven-year-old Dylan Farrow’s pediatrician was the one who first reported the molestation to the police.
Allen initially said that he had never been in the attic where the molestation allegedly took place, but his hair was found in the attic, so he changed his story and said that he had been in the attic just a few times. The investigation later concluded that his account of that day was not credible.
Ronan Farrow, one of Dylan’s brothers, who today is the journalist who wrote the infamous Harvey Weinstein exposé that helped spark the #MeToo movement in Hollywood, has said that he remembers witnessing Allen “climbing into her [Dylan’s] bed in the middle of the night” and “forcing her to suck his thumb.”
Three other adults besides Allen were present in the Farrow home the day Dylan was molested. A babysitter told police and gave sworn testimony that Allen and Dylan went missing for 15 to 20 minutes. Another babysitter told police and also swore in court that on that same day, she saw Allen with his head in Dylan’s lap facing her body, while Dylan sat on a couch “staring vacantly in the direction of a television set.” The third adult, a tutor, told police and testified that on that day, she’d found that Dylan was not wearing underpants under her sundress after disappearing with Allen.
Multiple employees of the family testified that Dylan used to be terrified of Allen, and that Dylan once locked herself in a bathroom for four hours when Allen came over to their house.
Allen refused to take a polygraph administered by the police during all four court cases about Dylan’s molestation. Allen lost all of these cases.
In his 33-page decision, Judge Elliott J. Wilk found that Allen’s behavior toward Dylan was “grossly inappropriate and that measures must be taken to protect her.”
You can read Judge Wilk’s full original court ruling here.
Woody Allen was never prosecuted in a criminal trial - some claim he was never prosecuted because there was no evidence, but the state attorney, Frank Maco, said publicly that there was probable cause to press charges against Allen for child molestation, but declined to do so due to “the fragility of the child victim” and the toll the trial process would’ve taken on her.
Read Dylan’s story, in her own words, here.
Woody Allen has famously said about his relationship with Soon-Yi: “I was paternal. She responded to someone paternal. […] I was happy to give her an enormous amount of decision-making, just as a gift.”
So, here’s a list of celebrities who love Woody Allen, worked with him, and/or have defended him:

Reese Witherspoon — said she supports Dylan
Shonda Rhimes — said she supports Dylan
Oprah Winfrey — led a discussion about Woody Allen and Time’s Up and supporting Dylan
Hayley Atwell — “I stand in solidarity with his daughter and offer an apology to her if my contribution to his work has caused her suffering or made her feel dismissed in any way. It’s exciting that I can say this now and I’m not going to be blacklisted.” (Atwell’s first film, in 2007, was a Woody Allen film)
Michael Caine — “I’m a patron of the NSPCC [National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children] and have very strong views about pedophilia. I can’t come to terms with it, because I loved Woody and had a wonderful time with him. I even introduced him to Mia. I don’t regret working with him [in 1986; five years before the first allegations], which I did in complete innocence; but I wouldn’t work with him again, no.”
Freida Pinto — said she would not work with Allen again, “Because I don’t know how some people can get away with it.”
Colin Firth — said he would not work with Allen again
