My potato patch

Last evening I attended the launch of a special issue of Samtiden—Norway's leading contemporary culture magazine. The issue was dedicated to animals, titled: "The animals are dying. We keep on as usual." There was a panel including several of the contributors: Two renowned biologists, the leader of WWF-Norway, the leader of Norway's largest animal rights organization, and a moral philosopher. The editor of the magazine—a self-described carnivore—was so moved by his work with the special issue, that at the end of the evening he declared he would no longer eat meat. The event also had catered delicious vegan food. I left happily with my vegan heart, my magazine and my stamps :-)

A golden shower. No, I'm not talking about the Steele dossier—though I must admit these flowers have gotten a new life in my head after reading about the Golden Shower allegations. The Norwegian common name for this Laburnum plant—gullregn, is golden shower. They are highly poisonous, so Norwegians always warn children against playing with or picking these beautiful flowers.
