TENDING MUD FOR ROSES.

“Are you happy when I’m happy?”

My Valentine's Day movie this year. The movie feels different watching it again, but in a nice way. I think I've grown up a little, and reminiscing about how I felt the first time watching it brings back some memories of how I was feeling at that point in my life.

And then there was this quote in one of the youtube comments:

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.”

This hits straight at my heart, because I'm someone who constantly wastes my present thinking about what I could have done better in my past. 

I think that hands are the most beautiful things on earth.

Sewing hands,

cooking hands,

healing hands,

building hands,

hands strumming the guitar,

hands playing the piano.

Looking back, I have fallen in love with so many pairs of them.

A couple of them were the first I’ve known. They were magical hands that could tell my temperature the moment they landed on my forehead, made sure that I had enough food to remain a little chubby but never go hungry, and fought with mine for the TV remote but we always end up engrossed in the same show anyway.

There was this particular pair that showed me what it meant to be strong and gentle at the same time. How they lovingly stroked my hair, or tenderly touched my back to remind me that it was time to go. This was a pair that I had carelessly lost. But it is also a pair that I can never forget, even when I think I have.

And there are those that have shown me how much mine can be capable of. They remind me of the great waste it would be to leave my own hands hanging, to let them do nothing when they can be used to create endless possibilities of wonderful things. 

That of summer days,

or that when the cold winter dawns.

But always longing for the other.
