DEREK: *the past few days had been rough. he hasn't seen anyone most of the weekend, and between battling the illness, guilt, and frustration (and to degrees he would not admit to, fear and loneliness) Derek is horribly exhausted. almost too much so to get up and answer the door, but he manages, looking a total mess with bags under his red eyes and hair a mess. seeing roxanne on the other side makes him flinch, but if anyone asks, he'll blame it on the brightness from outside. it's pretty dimly lit in his room, what with the light giving him a headache.*

DEREK: Hey. *his voice is much raspier than usual and the greeting sounds more like a croak than anything.*

ROXANNE : *She tries her best not to look super concerned when she sees what a mess he is because likely he already knows how crappy he feels without her saying it.* Hey.

ROXANNE : *Brings out one of the bags of coughdrops she brought him. Its got a ribbon tied around it and with pink glitter pen is written "SORRY YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WORKING OVERTIME <3 <3"*

ROXANNE : These might help your throat. this particular batch is cherry flavored. which in my professional opinion is better then the mint and orange kind but i got you all three just in case you do not agree.

DEREK: *he takes the bag but his eyes have a hard time focusing on what's written on it. he squints, moving aside as a way to invite her into the room, mumbling.* Orange is way better.

DEREK: Thanks though. Thesell do wonders.

ROXANNE: *She steps inside looking around to see how hes been living these past few days of self imposed isolation.* Mmm i should'a known you'd be the kind to be seduced by the false lures of artifical citrus. *She grins at him though. Sick as he may be, she missed him.*

DEREK: *he manages a weak smile, but can't seem to come up with any banter in response. he drags himself back over to his futon and drops his weary bones back onto it.* Gonna sample this shit right now. *pops a cough drop into his mouth and resumes vegging.*

ROXANNE: *Her smile fades slightly at his lack luster response. Its not like him not to not have some sort of even small retort or whity comment.* Hm.

ROXANNE: Ya'know a bed would probably be better then a futon? if you want i can get someone to watch russet for a few days and you could get some actual decent sleep in my room. it would probably be pretty good for you.

DEREK: *crinkling the bag for something to do with his hands.* Huh? Uh... Nah. Ill be alright. Rather not spread my filth around past these doors. *man this cough drop is amazing. why is he suddenly so fixated on it? he's definitely in denial as to why.

ROXANNE : You sure? i mean its been a while you might not even be contagious anymore.

DEREK: Yeah Im sure. *he sinks into the blankets a little. there's really no good way to avoid that offer without looking avoidant and it's making him feel a little on edge.*

ROXANNE : *Oh. Well. He was sick so maybe he just didn't feel like moving? It was a bit hard to not take the decline of her offer slightly personally, but Roxanne did her best to shake it off and walked over to sit down on the end corner of his futon.* Well, okay.

ROXANNE : Ya'know i hope you get better soon, i've been missing you a whole lot lately.

ROXANNE : Guess that is also my fault though, ive been the one making myself super busy.

DEREK: *grunts* Its cool. I always coulda imposed. Before I got sick anyways.

DEREK: ... Just wish I could be more helpful. Watch Russet for you.

DEREK: How is she doin?

ROXANNE: *Her smile comes back, but its softer.* Shes pretty good. been making get well cards for you. 'course ive helped her with some of the lettering, but heck shes getting really good at writing small words. *She then produced a small stack of get well cards, decorated with beautiful scribles that meant to represent various family members, mostly surrounding Derek, and with each came its own personalized note consisting usually of "NoT sICK Is goOd DADDy. RuSSEt <3" in uneven letters.*

DEREK: *his initial reaction to the cards when he looks through them is to laugh, good natured, at how damn cute it is. but then he's staring at it, silently, for a good solid minute, going on two. somewhere during that span of time, his smile disappeared and all that remains are stinging eyes and a tightening throat.*

ROXANNE : *She brightens up at his laugh, finally, Derek acting more like himself. However her brief moment of relief was so short lived, and his expression shifted. Roxanne's eyebrows knit closer togeth in concern, and she reached out a hand to gently rest it on his shoulder.* Derek? you okay?

DEREK: *hides his eyes behind his hand, flinching a little at the touch but not pulling away.* Fuck-- Im. *the rasp in his voice causes it to crack when he speaks and it hurts like a motherfucker.* Fine.

ROXANNE : Uh... no offense derek but... ya' dont really seem fine?? *The concern levels are high and she is scoot closer to him to wrap her whole arm around his shoulders, looking down at the cards in his hands and then back up to his face.* Is something wrong? like don't feel bad about not seeing her much, you're sick and thats pretty damn understandable??

DEREK: *he turns away from her slightly as she gets her arm around him, shaking his head quickly.* Im not-- Fuck. I dont know how to... *he trails off as he's pressing his palm against his face now, fingertips digging in slightly in frustration.*

ROXANNE : *With his reaction Roxanne lets go of him and retracts her hand pretty much entirely, just allowing it to hover in the air between them.* Don't know how to what?? *Her throat felt tight with worry, she didn't know why he was upset but something was really bugging him and she NEVER sees Derek get this worked up.* Derek you're starting to worry me here...

DEREK: *he wants to get up and pace, but he's too damn tired, and that only makes this emotional outburst all the more aggravating for him. he feels stuck, physically, and in this situation. as sure as he thought he was about what he wanted, thinking about everything he has to lose has him feeling trapped in uncertainty. worse yet, how could he possibly break the news to her? he can't act cool about it now. he can't choose his words carefully. he's cornered himself. there's no running, so he can only blurt out the gritty truth, lash out with it.*

DEREK: Ive been cheating on you. With Riley.

ROXANNE : ........................................ *That uh. Didn't quite click.* Wh...What? *Not right away anyways. How could it? That was some sudden hard cold, hard to swallow truth being dropped into her lap like "Here, you deal with this."*

ROXANNE : You... *Derek had been cheating on her. With his ex-wife. For how long? What kind of cheating?? More kissing??? Fuck, Roxanne had trouble believing it was only kissing... Is this why he had been more distant lately? Or was it because maybe she was the one who was distant. Roxanne couldn't find the strength to articulate any of these thoughts right now, and when she came back from the shock of it she discovered that she was staring silently at the floor and her hand had completely retracted from Derek's space and had dropped into a clenched fist in her lap. Oh. And her eyes were watery too.*

ROXANNE : How l-nngn. *No she didn't want to know. She didn't want to know how long this had been going on. She didn't want to know the details of how or when or even why.*

ROXANNE : So you..... *Roxanne swallows, her throat is painfull tight, and her heart feels like its on fire. It was a really good thing she didn't bring Russet with her for this.*

ROXANNE : You and her- *Hold on, deep breath required.*

ROXANNE: ......... *Maybe another, this time with a slight sniffle, and wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand.*

ROXANNE : D-Do you.... lo-ove her? *She finally manages to croak out. Unable to actually look at him. Or be near him at all right now. She is actually scooting further away from him on the futon.*

DEREK: *he's turned away from her anyway, squeezing his eyes shut, trying to block out as many senses as he can as he feels entirely too overstimulated right now, and there's a nagging urge to dig his fingers in deeper to his skin. something about the question she settles on grounds him. maybe it's because the answer is easy.*

DEREK: Yes.

ROXANNE : *She lets out a sharp breath, painfully close to a wince really, as it feels like something just hit her hard in both her stomach and her chest. Her face is burning, how she manages to have small tears moving down her cheeks? Roxanne has no idea, because she could swear with the way her flush is heating up her skin any water should turn to steam.* Oh-hhkay.

ROXANNE : D-Do you.... w-want to be with h-her? *Her voice is hitching to much. Fuck.*

DEREK: *even though he knows the answer to that as well, it's much more difficult to answer when the reality of the consequences are nagging so intensely at his mind. there's no going back once he makes those thoughts known.*

DEREK: Y... Yes.

ROXANNE : *Well. She just had to get an answer didn't she. Roxanne can't believe that even for a moment she entertained the idea of the answer being anything else but "Yes."*

ROXANNE : *She silently, and kind of clumisly, rises to her feet. She moves to take out and set down the last two bags of cough drops and the containers of soup on the nearest table, and then she is heading for his door. Because she just.... she just can't be in here anymore.*

DEREK: *he feels her raise off the futon, hears her set down the bags and containers, but he doesn't respond until she's near the door. only then does he lift his head, yet he does nothing to stop her. he just stares at the cards in his lap, dread bubbling in the pit of his stomach.*

ROXANNE : *She makes it all the way across the room, her hand actually on the door handle itself when she freezes, not yet turning it, but not turning back to him either.* ............. *She is waiting. Waiting for even the small chance that maybe, just maybe, he was mistaken and was about to take it all back.*

DEREK: *unfortunately, that isn't the case. his mind is made up, and if she just wants to go, then he has nothing else he can say.*

[11:14] RS: -riley somehow takes it upon herself to answer dirk's door if anyone drops by, just to let them know that he's out. so when there's a knock now, she goes to the door and opens it, finding a blonde lady there. who she is, riley has no idea.- hey, sorry. if you're looking for dirk or sollux, they're both out right now.

[11:17] TG: Actually, i think i'm lookin' for you. i think. i'm guessin' you're riley? *She gives a smile, doing her best to make this as not awkward as it can be.* my name is roxanne. roxanne lalonde.

[11:19] TG: I dunno' if derek has said much about me, or if your sons talk about me at all, heck if my name never came up its no big deal. but uh, yeah, i just wanted to come introduce myself. say hello and welcome aboard an'stuff.

[11:22] RS: -shit. shit, shit, shit. this is derek's girlfriend, isn't it? maybe she's coming over to punch her in the face for kissing derek. maybe she's here to start something. but she looks so...nice? and she talks nice, too. she's fucking adorable, that's what she is. riley figures she should return the favor, at least until roxanne gives her a reason otherwise.- oh. yeah, i know who you are. derek talks

[11:22] RS: about you. talks about you a lot. not that we talk that much anymore, but. you know- hey, do you want to come in? really nice of you to stop by like this.

[11:25] TG: If you don't mind then sure. *Hopefully dirk also wont mind, since it is his room, but she can always apologize to him later. If allowed, Roxanne steps into the room.*

[11:27] RS: -no, riley blocks her by suddenly guarding the door. just kidding, riley lets her in, stepping aside quickly. riley should really stop letting people into dirk's room, because that seems to just get her into trouble. see: derek's visit.- of course i don't mind. -riley's still preparing herself for roxanne to throw a punch. who knows what this lady is capable of?-

[11:29] TG: *Roxanne is a science nerd, and left her deadly array of rifles at home. Riley has nothing to worry about. She looks around a bit, but tries not to be too nosy since she and Dirk aren't exactly close friends or anything.* So. have ya'been enjoying yourself so far on the ship? *She is completely clueless to the events that have taken place.*

[11:30] TG: I remember takin' some time to warm up to it at first.

[11:33] RS: -riley smiles a little nervously, trying to inconspicuously kick something under the bed she's been sleeping on.- you can sit down, if you want. -she gestures to the couch and looks at roxanne when she asks- oh. yeah. i mean, besides detainment, it's been good. i get to see the boys, so. dave and dirk. i see dirk a whole lot more now, let me tell you!

[11:33] RS: and as for warming up, i'm not too worried about that since this isn't a permanent thing.

[11:34] TG: *Given the offer, Roxanne moves to sit on the couch, but she pauses and raises an eyebrow when Riley brings up detainment.* Huh? you got detained?

[11:35] TG: *Doesn't that only happen to people who cause TROUBLE?*

[11:37] RS: -riley also takes a seat on the couch, laughing nervously- yeah. i guess i didn't take all the necessary security precautions or whatever. whoops, haha.

[11:38] TG: That uh... yeah that sounds like a bummer. i mean, you seem perfectly nice though, so im sure it wasn't too big a deal.

[11:38] TG: I can't imagine the captain' was all to friendly with you though.

[11:39] RS: oh. ha, i wouldn't say that. i mean, i'm okay, i guess. and nah, he's a sassy thing. wasn't too pleased with me at all. gotta find some way to prove i'm trustworthy in order for me to leave. and i...gotta leave. shows and stuff to play when the tour starts up again. as much as i'd like to stay here. with dirk and dave.

[11:42] TG: Sassy? man maybe its just me then, my first day he said he was gonna' throw me out the airlock. *Ahh yes. Way back when.* so trustworthy huh? also oh right, you're a musician!

[11:43] TG: Whats that like? i've always kinda' wondered what it would be like to travel for something other then research material, haha.

[11:44] RS: sassy's putting it nicely, i guess. and oh, well, it's cool, i guess. busy sometimes and it can get pretty tiring, but overall i still enjoy it. i kind of have to if i want to stay sane since i've been doing it for so long. -she pauses- research material? are you some kind of...researcher? -NICE RILEY-

[11:49] TG: *She chuckles a little.* Yeah, researcher is about right. i focus on the process of cloning. specifically human cloning, but i've dabbled in the production of other species. i also dedicate a lot of lab space to constructing replacement organs suitable for transplants, but only a few in each batch of a hundred usually turn out strong enough to be worth it. *Roxanne sighs about all those wasted liv

[11:49] TG: ers* haven't been able to get the growth structure anymore consistent then it has been in years. kinda' why i joined up with this ship in the first place, to try and gather more samples of genetic codes and find other possible processes for cell replication. i've already cloned two bears in the labs here.

[11:55] RS: -wow, she's way intelligent. cloning? human cloning? what the hell? BEAR cloning?- damn, that's impressive. so, what do you do with the bears in here, anyway?

[11:56] TG: Well, uh, nothin' yet. hahah. i was actually supposed to drop 'em off at my home labs before they matured in their genesis tubes but. . .well. . .ya'know. we all kinda' became outlaws.

[11:56] TG: So now i've been slowing their development as much as i safely can do, and tryin' to come up with a plan for 'em.

[11:57] TG: Derek wants the ship crew to fight the bears.

[11:57] RS: -she snorts- of fucking course he does.

[11:57] TG: Or maybe just him. i think maybe he just wants to fight the bears.

[11:58] TG: *Roxanne shrugs.* Did he ever ask you if he could fight a bear?

[11:58] TG: I feel like thats half of what we talk about. him not fighting bears.

[11:59] RS: well, i never had access to bears that he could fight. or bears at all?

[11:59] RS: sounds like he's trying to show off.

[12:00] TG: That absolutely seems like possibly the truth.

[12:01] RS: -she laughs, less nervously now and a bit more genuine- right?

[12:01] TG: When we used to be drinkin' buddies, he jumped into a mermaid tank at a bar once. *Now its her turn to snort at that memory.* he's kinda' the king of showing off i guess.

[12:04] RS: no shit. wow. -she shakes her head, just imagining it because it's so something he would do.- it just means he really likes you when he does that.

[12:04] RS: i know you're really...really special to him.

[12:05] TG: *Is she blushing? Well, maybe a little bit. Roxanne tries to play it off.* Hah, well. i guess he's pretty special to me too.

[12:06] TG: But you're also pretty special to him too right?

[12:06] TG: I haven't exactly heard much 'bout you, but its never really been anything bad. and you guys have your kids together an'stuff.

[12:07] TG: Which is really awesome. those boys lucked out on some great parents in my opinion. heh, my girls just gotta' settle for me.

[12:07] RS: as it should be, i- huh? -she's totally caught off guard, because she has no idea how to respond to this-

[12:08] TG: *OH NO. Should she not have said it?? HHH quick time to cover it up.* I mean well,

[12:09] TG: Th'two of you, you an' derek. you're just reall swell people an' all.

[12:09] TG: Is what i'm gettin' at.

[12:09] TG: *Roxanne is forcing her smile again while internally sweating about messing this up.*

[12:10] RS: oh! thanks! it's cool you think so. don't think this is the best i could have looked for a first impression, but i guess i did okay if i've convinced you of all that.

[12:11] RS: but i guess you just have a hard time having someone out of your life when you share kids with them. -that's not even true, riley. that's not even WHY.-

[12:11] RS: you say you have girls? maybe you know what i mean.

[12:12] TG: Yeah i do. rose and roxy, maybe you've already met them? i know they are close with dirk and dave. but uh, hahah can't say i do i guess.

[12:13] TG: *MORE SWEATING.* Didn't really give rose or roxy the conventional father mother thing.

[12:13] RS: i've met rose. i didn't know that was your girl, though. she really turned out great. good sense of humor, too.

[12:14] RS: and i didn't either.

[12:14] RS: i don't know if derek told you...

[12:14] RS: anything about how dirk and dave were raised.

[12:15] TG: He's said a few things 'bout dirk, but i don't think he's told me much about dave at all.

[12:16] TG: Still. . .all that had to be rough to go through. *She gives Riley a sympathetic look.*

[12:17] RS: -she glances away from roxanne- i wasn't...i wasn't there for dave growing up.

[12:17] RS: before reuniting with all three of them here, i hadn't seen any of them in over twenty years.

[12:19] TG: *Oh. OH. This certainly was news to her, and Roxanne sat with this information for a few moments in silence. Which maybe wasn't the nicest thing to do but it was hard not to when it was kind of similar to her own situation.* .....me to.

[12:19] TG: With my girls i mean.

[12:19] TG: Sorta' different circumstances, but th'whole not seeing them for a real long time.

[12:20] TG: *Roxanne wasn't sure why she was sharing this, but maybe it was because Riley was also a mom in the same pickle?*

[12:22] RS: -she's actually surprised to hear this, but it makes her feel like she and roxanne share more than they could ever know. that, and/or derek has a FUCKING TYPE.- but you're reunited with them now, right?

[12:23] TG: *She nods.* Yeah. took a real long time though. and things are still pretty rocky between me and roxy but i think she was more angry towards me then rose was.

[12:23] TG: Also can't say i gave either of them the warmest welcome during our seperate reunions.

[12:24] TG: It was kinda' all unexpected.

[12:24] RS: did you cry and run away, though?

[12:24] RS: because that's sure as hell what i did.

[12:24] TG: *Roxanne wheezes a bit and leans back against the couch.* I ran away a few times.

[12:24] TG: Didn't cry though. in public anyways.

[12:25] RS: dirk and dave tracked me down at one of my shows. i didn't even know dirk was alive.

[12:26] TG: I thought rose was dead too.

[12:26] TG: *God what if Derek does have a type for these types of moms.*

[12:29] RS: -they have so much more in common than she realized- you feel racked with guilt too? before reuniting or whatever?

[12:30] TG: The guilt didn't actually come until after. i mean, there were times where i thought about the two of 'em.

[12:30] TG: I've just uh, never really been the mother type i guess...

[12:31] TG: Which sounds horribly shitty ta'say, and you probably think im terrible, huh. *She laughs uncomfortably.*

[12:31] RS: i definitely wasn't very...conventional, i suppose. -she looks at her- no, i get it. i actually really get it.

[12:32] TG: *Roxanne is discovering Riley is even more chill then she first thought.* Thanks.

[12:33] RS: yeah, i mean. it's hard, losing a kid. or thinking you've lost them. and trying to move on with your life.

[12:33] RS: there are different ways to handle it, and maybe we both kind of sucked, but at least we both did.

[12:34] TG: I just uh, never thought i'd see 'em again, ya'know? so it was easier to push the guilt to th'back of my mind and forget about it. keeping busy helped. drank a lot too. but i think there is a difference between handling it, an' then shirking off all responcibility.

[12:35] TG: An' i certainly didn't do th'first one.

[12:35] TG: I mean, not that i probably could have done much for rose. i was only nineteen when she came into my life.

[12:39] RS: yeah, i mean, it's like a certainty they're gone forever. like something has just been ripped right out of you. nineteen? shit, that's young. i guess i wasn't that much older when i had dirk, but still.

[12:41] TG: Yeah. i was in the process of finishin' up my final semester of school. graduated and all, but i gave up rose. didn't think much of it at th'time. not like i could do much for her on my own, an' i tried to keep track of where she was.

[12:42] TG: Then i got pregnant with roxy at. . . *She frowns a bit as she tries to remember.* Twenty two?

[12:42] TG: I can't even remember right now.

[12:42] RS: their dads weren't in the picture, i take it?

[12:42] RS: or their dad?

[12:44] TG: Hate to admit it, but i never even got roxy's dad's number. *If she wasn't blushing before, she sure was now. Young Roxanne sure was a crazy gal'*

[12:44] TG: And rose technically doesn't have a father at all.

[12:45] TG: I mean, i guess i'm sorta' her father? and her mother?

[12:45] TG: What i'm sayin' is she was my first successful human clone.

[12:45] RS: hey, nothing to be ashamed of. and uh, you're going to have to explain that last part to me because i'm a little lost- oh.

[12:45] RS: wow. really?

[12:46] TG: Yep. she was my finals study way back when.

[12:46] TG: Oh my god that sounds terrible out loud though.

[12:46] TG: Also wait, maybe don't spread that around, im not sure if people are supposed to know that.

[12:47] RS: -she laughs- don't worry, your secret's safe with me. you did a great job, by the way.

[12:47] RS: she's pretty spectacular.

[12:49] TG: Well shucks, thanks for sayin' so. *Rose has all sorts of possible conditions from a sloppy job of a nineteen year old but Riley don't have to know.*

[12:50] TG: Dirk is pretty amazing too though. he's smart enough to give me a run for my money.

[12:50] RS: i really enjoyed talking with her. and she's really important to dave, too.

[12:50] RS: isn't he?

[12:50] RS: he turned out so well for what he went through. i'm so proud of him.

[12:50] TG: Yeah, he actually at one point was helpin' me redesign my power grid for my home lab on earth.

[12:50] RS: see? he's basically a fucking genius.

[12:51] TG: Bascially? uh i think ya' mean he is one already.

[12:51] TG: Might as well get his big brained certificate now and hang it on his walls in here.

[12:53] RS: i don't know why he hasn't already. -she's so proud of dirk that she's beaming-

[12:54] TG: *YOU BEAM ALL YOU WANT RILEY. She deserves it. Roxanne is also perking up again just from how happy Riley looks.*

[12:54] TG: He probably wants to play it cool.

[12:54] TG: Not show off.

[12:54] TG: That sorta' thing.

[12:55] RS: i'm sure he can achieve both somehow. he is his father's son.

[12:55] TG: That he is.

[12:56] TG: *She remembers for a moment how Derek and Dirk don't exactly get along, and for a moment it looks like Roxanne is going to ask Riley about that, but she thinks better of it.*

[12:57] TG: So i heard you were spending christmas with 'em. your boys that is. that sounds likeit must have been great.

[12:57] TG: Did ya'do new years too?

[12:58] RS: oh, yeah. got the whole strider family that's here in one spot, plus me. -and then she mentions new years, and riley blushes- oh, no.

[12:58] RS: didn't celebrate new years.

[01:02] TG: *Roxanne quirks a brow and Riley starting to blush.* Huh, well don't worry 'bout it much i guess. neither did i. derek and i brought up new years to each other once or twice but, *She shrugs.* spent it kinda' by myself instead. sorta' wanted to give him the chance to drink if he wanted, haha. since it was my first new years sober. *And she can say that now, power to you Roxanne!*

[01:04] RS: -now she feels that guilt creeping up, but she clears her throat and tries to play it cool.- hey, congratulations on being sober. that's great.

[01:08] TG: Thanks. its been a struggle at times, but i've been able to find motivation. mostly in my adopted troll daughter, russet.

[01:10] TG: *And yes, Russet is technically a boys name. HOPEFULLY RILEY JUST GOES WITH IT.*

[01:11] RS: -riley can also be a boy's name. she understands. oh. russet, the troll daughter she and derek share. oh, boy- that's good you've found something to keep you going.

[01:13] TG: I'm really determined to get it right this time, i guess. meanin' no booze and actually bein' arond. i've had a lot of help with her though, so i think she has a good chance at turning out alright. *She grins just thinking about the cool independent woman Russet will be one day.*

[08:05] RS: -this woman has been through a lot. getting sober and raising a kid? that's hard work right there.- you're ambitious, i can tell. and as for the help, derek's a...he's a really great dad. at least with babies from what i remember. couldn't ask for someone to love a kid more.

[08:26] TG: Oh yeah, totally. russet just loves him to pieces really. i don't like to think she picks favorites but if she did, he'd make it to th'top five im sure.

[08:28] RS: i'm not surprised. -she smiles a little remembering how derek was with dirk and dave back when they were all a family-

[08:30] TG: He's probably th'best at putting her to bed too. whenever i try to get her to sleep it takes at least two or three tries, hahah.

[08:42] RS: you'll get the hang of it. i...wasn't so great at first. derek seemed like a natural at that sort of thing.

[08:55] TG: *Roxanne never would have pegged Derek as the super dad type when she first met him, but she had to admit that Riley was right. He just really did have this natural way with kids it would seem.* I'm lucky ta'have him around to help me figure it out then.

[08:56] RS: yeah. -she nods, voice quieting- you are.

[06:15] TG: *She is pretty absorbed in what she is doing, but once in a while Roxanne is glancing over at her grumpy looking man and her alien baby. It doesn't take her /too/ long to comment on Derek's mood.* Ya' sure are giving russet's toy th'stink eye.

[06:18] TG: *Russet is oblivious to the glares towards her new husktop, and just opens her orange drooly mouth when she wants more cake.*

[06:21] TT: Dunno what youre talking about. I always look like this. *wipes drool off on his shirt*

[06:25] TG: How many times have ya' looked in a mirror then, 'cus you don't /always/ look that grumpy. *Roxanne puts her tablet down in her lap for a moment, turning herself more towards Derek and Russet. She knew that this last week or two had probably been a bit stressful or at least weird for him.*

[07:06] TT: *smirks back at her and then looks at russet again* I wouldnt wanna wish her gift away. Shes having fun with it. *pats the baby's head*

[07:09] TG: **Russet only looks away from her number game to blink up at her dad when her head is pat. Cue happy chirps.*

[07:09] TG: Okay so ya'dont wanna wish her gift away. then what are ya'frowning about?

[07:39] TT: Nothin. *continues to watch the baby, quiet for a moment* Whats she need it for though?

[07:47] TG: Well ta' learn to spell and stuff i guess, what else? *She leans over to gesture at the word game Russet was playing.* my friend james got it for her. educational toys gotta' be good for her.

[08:24] TG: Well i mean, really it could have been a few people. but yeah it was from him. *She is picking up on your tone, yes sir.*

[08:25] TG: **Russet stops playing her game again and reaches for Derek's hands. Give her all the cake.*

[08:42] TT: *YOU'RE GONNA GET FAT LIKE YOUR DAD IF YOU KEEP EATING CAKE. he continues to share it though because he's gone soft.* What a great guy.

[08:44] TG: **THE BABY DECLARES LET THEM EAT CAKE, and stuffs her mouth with the amount her dad gives her.*

[08:45] TG: Yeah he kinda' is, isn't he. i think he gave russet the computer, or uh? husktop? is the troll way of saying it? i dunno' if they are any different from each other but anyways, yeah i think he gave it to her because i mentioned how i was worried she wasn't talkin' yet.

[08:46] TT: *hm. he hadn't really given that much thought* Should we be worried about that?

[08:47] TG: *She gives a shrug.* 'dunno. most human babies don't do much more then babble at her age, or what i think her age is anyways, but a lot of the other troll kids are already saying words and russet wont do much else but make bug noises.

[09:06] TT: *makes a disgruntled noise. was something wrong with her?* Sure it doesnt mean anything. *plays with one of russet's braids.*

[09:31] TG: *She gives him a smile that hopefully contains her thanks. Roxanne tries to play it down but it does worry her. She doesn't know a lot about raising trolls, and well, Ymirra aint around to ask anymore.*

[09:32] TG: **There are tiny hands lifting up to smeer drooly cake mush on the underside of Derek's chin. Russet may not know how to say "Dad" but she knows how to share.*

[09:42] TT: *scrunches up his face as mush is squished to his chin* ... Thanks baby. *wipes it off and finally puts the cake away. they'll get tummy aches if they eat much more.*

[09:43] TG: **She makes a noise that is a mix of laughter and chirps while clapping her messy hands together.*

[09:44] TG: *Roxanne hides her snort by hiding her face with her tablet.*

[09:49] TT: *looks over at her* What are you gigglin at huh?

[09:59] TG: **Russet giggles louder, copying her mom by covering her big grin with her hands.*

[10:00] TG: She's laughin' at how funny she thinks she is probably. *Smirks at him from over her device, pretending to go back to work.*

[10:09] TT: *scoops up russet into his lap and tickles at her tum* Ill give you something to laugh about.

[10:12] TG: **But DAD!! Russet squeels, wriggling about and trying to cover her tummy while the merciless tickles continue. Shes laughing more then ever.*

[10:12] TG: *And its super hard for Roxanne not to get a case of the giggles herself from low key watching this.* Ya' two are too cute.

[10:26] TT: Yeah I know. *TICKLES while cackling* But you know whatd be cuter? If you were over here with us.

[10:29] TG: Oh well in that case, i'm all for cute overloads, so looks like genome structure samples gotta' wait. *Roxanne puts down her tablet and sits next to Derek and squirming Russet. Without too much time passing, she scoops up one of Russet's feet and gives it a good old raspberry, making the little troll girl giggle even louder.*

[11:07] TT: Heh. Shit looks like I was right. Much cuter. *stops tickling her so the poor kid can get a moment to breathe*

[09:37] TG: *Now that Russet isn't being tickled to death the little girl is able to pull her foot free of her mom, to which Roxanne fully complies with and releases her baby's toes. Gotta' give the kid time to breath and all that.* Heheh, yeah ya' sure were.

[09:50] TT: *now that he's lured her over, he leans in to give roxanne a quick kiss. it feels like it's been a while, and between the possessiveness and the insecurities that have been dug up lately, he can't help wanting that closeness.*

[09:55] TG: *She smiles when he kisses her. As much as Derek desired the closeness, Roxanne wanted it just as badly if not more so. It was hard to watch someone you care about stress over something so much, and while Roxanne knew it was best to stay out of it as much as she could, it still meant the world to her to be able to be here for him. She only pulled her lips away so she could give him another kiss on

[12:03] TG: *And boy howdy does she let him.* Do ya'know how hard it is to make bears? *She lets out a happy sigh, shutting her eyes as she feels his lips on her neck* if you killed it you'd owe me a bear.

[12:09] TT: I think I know a thing or two about procreation. *wait that just sounds like he'd fuck a bear. now he's snickering against her neck immaturely. this is not cool of him at all.*

ROSE: -Rose approaches the door, opening it up and looking at the woman on the other side. She's worse for wear, clearly, though she's gotten some medical treatment, enough that she's not a complete disaster to look at. She's still a lot thinner than she was before, though.-

ROSE: Oh.

ROSE: Hey.

MOM: *Roxanne sucks in a breath as the door opens. She wasn't sure what she was expecting, maybe worse, maybe better, but her eyes don't stop scanning over every inch of Rose until she has seen everything that there is.* Hey. . . . *Can she just. . . reach forward and try to hug her. Because she is going to do that. It will be gentle but Roxanne can't fight the urge to do so.*

ROSE: -She's been pulled into worse hugs, lately, leaning into it to let it happen.- I'm. Sorry.

ROSE: It's been getting pretty difficult to talk to everyone again.

MOM: *The breath she was holding is let out when Rose leans into her, and Roxanne wraps her arms around her daughter in a way that makes it quite clear she wasn't letting go again in the near forseeable future. It was a horrible thought that this is what it took to get Roxanne to work up the courage to hug her kid, but she could feel bad about that later if she so chose.* Wha-? no, shh, no don't say sorry. jeez no, you don't need to say sorry. shit i'm glad you're here, im so glad.

ROSE: Hah. I don't know.

ROSE: I feel like I've got something to be sorry for, so.

MOM: *Roxanne pulls back enough to frown a bit in concern at Rose. Heck she didn't want Rose to be sorry about anything at all* I mean, im fine standin' here but if you wanna' go in then yeah, sure. *Her hug is becoming loose for that purpose.*

ROSE: I've-- got, uh. I have a couch. And some tea, I made it for myself. Easy on the throat, if you want some.

ROSE: -She gives her a pat as she leads her over to the couch.-

MOM: *SHE should be doing the leading, given Rose's state, but she allows this.* Couches are great, an' so is tea, i'm inposin' though since i didn't give any kind of warning.

ROSE: You're not imposing.

ROSE: I was kind of expecting company.

ROSE: Having people around.

MOM: Well, thanks then. *She ain't gonna sit down until Rose does.* . . .so this is probably a really terrible question but, well, how are you?

ROSE: I suppose I've been worse.

ROSE: -She pours a pair of cups of tea, carrying them over and offering one to Roxanne.-

ROSE: I feel strange.

ROSE: And that is a tremendous understatement.

MOM: *She takes the tea with thanks.* Well yeah, thats way understable though. i mean, its gonna' take time and things.

MOM: *She then sits down next to her, looking at her daughter again, taking in the clear evidence of everything that has happened.*

MOM: She uh, *Roxanne had been leaving Russet in the care of others so often during the time Roxy and Rose were gone, pouring all of her attention into work as she usually does to cope, the most time she spent with Russet was usually sleeping in the same room at night, and occasionally spending a few hours together every few days.* shes okay.

MOM I'm good. better now that you an' roxy are back. a lot better actually. sky high better really.

MOM: I feel rather like a mom myself.

ROSE: D'you feel like a pillow?

ROSE: -She yawns a little. She's going to be tired for a long time now.-

MOM: *She smiles and adjusts them both so she is also leaning into the couch.* Ten hours? my shoulder might get numb but i'm pretty sure i can handle it. *Roxanne then reaches her other arm around and holds Rose against her. Maybe she'll manage to get some sleep at last too.*

MOM: I'm the undiscovered champ of it, i'm tellin' ya.

ROSE: -She closes her eyes, breathing growing a bit steadier.-

[10:11] TG: *Shes wearing sweats and some soft pink, old looking sweater that is a bit stretched out around the neckline. Bunny slippers are on her feet and she is sitting crosslegged on her bed with her laptop. In the corner closest to her is that makeshift cloning tube grub coon, to which a wad of biological material was pasted to. Russet had at least made it easy on Roxanne and pupated to something mobile.

[10:11] TG: Anyways when the door knocks she folds up her laptop and puts it over to the side. Roxanne steps over a few fake gold coins in the process but most of the pile had been swept over to one side until she figures out what to do with it.*

[10:11] TG: *Opens the door.* Hey.

[10:20] TT: Yo. *oh geez, she looks so cute in her lounging clothes and he glances over her a bit* I dig the bunny slippers.

[10:28] TG: Thanks, *She lifts one foot up and bonks it gently to his shin.* they dig ya' too. *Roxanne then steps aside to wave him on in.*

[10:30] TT: *smirks, shuffling on in after her with his gaze gravitating towards russet's cocoon.*

[10:45] TT: *not his squishy little belly. he lets out a confused noise at the initial poke before giving her some major side eye*

[10:55] TG: *NOOOOOO everyones weakness is tickles. Roxanne can do nothing more but bat at his hands and try to squirm out from under his arm and away.* Don't you know that kind of damage is permenant! hahahah!

[11:01] TT: *loops his other arm around her with a devilish grin, cutting off her escape route and pulling her closer to him.* Then dont start fights you cant win.

[11:04] TG: Dang I have learned my lesson, sir. *No she hadn't but her tatic will be to lay low and wait to the next perfect moment to strike.*

[11:11] TT: *snorts* Thats what I thought. *but will she be able to retaliate when he places a kiss between her neck and shoulder?? this man fights dirty.*

The whole calming down thing was kind of lost because with the topic of Ruth came a huge slurry of emotions that in all seriousness Roxanne just really wanted to keep pushing down. She took a deep breath to pretend like she was at ease again though.*

[12:09] TT: Second time at the party. Thats when she told me you were sisters.

[12:11] TG: Hmn. well she was the reason i was kinda' avoiding that party. *Grumbles something along the lines of "Wonder if she saw /THAT/ coming."*

[12:18] TT: Which was kinda out of left field. Shes real weird.

[12:20] TG: *She frowned, so clearly ticked off.*

[12:20] TG: So she thinks you're "good for me?" what the heck does that mean??

[12:24] TT: *more uhhhhs and looking like an awkward penguin as roxanne gets upset* I dunno.

[12:25] TG: *She is all frustrated noises and sighs of defeat.* Urgh!! sorry.

[12:25] TG: Not all that fond of her right now.

[12:26] TG: She is. . .ruth is something else. always has been actually.

[12:26] TG: But now especially.

[12:26] TG: Her and her *looks at him and gestures to her own eyes.* whatever is going on there.

[12:32] TT: *snorts* Its kinda freaky.

[12:32] TT: She some kinda oracle or some shit?

[12:33] TG: I guess she is.

[12:33] TT: Thats fuckin weird. *everything is so weird nowadays. HE'S TOO OLD FOR WEIRD CHANGES.*

[12:35] TG: *SHE IS TOO.* Yeah, it really is.

[12:42] TT: Guess we both got eccentric siblings we can complain about. *that's a LIE derek, we all know you're the eccentric brother.*

[12:42] TT: *he returns to kissing her, hoping that will cheer her up a little*

[12:45] TG: Yeah. add it to the list of comon traits and things to bond over. *Well, it sort of does, the kissing gets her mind off it enough so she wont rant anymore. Maybe one day, once she has got her mind wrapped around it better, she will go into depth about it with him.*

[12:57] TT: Ill file it in right after how damn sexy we both are. *smirks and redirects his kisses to her lips, running his hands up and down her back*

[07:31] TG: *When he kisses her, she smiles into it and turns so that she can cup his face with her hands and move her lips along with his.*

[07:42] TT: *a grin starts spreading behind the kiss and he uses his hold on her to pull them both down on the bed with her on top of him*

[07:45] TG: *She is totally find with this in every way. Also it got them to stop talking about her sister so thats a bonus!. Roxanne places her legs on either side of him and tries to support herself the best she can to keep weight off him.*

[07:57] TT: *settles his hands on her hips while running them up her sides from time to time to encourage her to relax. she could put all her weight on him, he doesn't care. him big enough.*

[08:01] TG: *"Him big enough" you say ;)*

[08:01] TG: *She does start to ease into it more, allowing herself to rest on him more so. The kiss was warm, sweet and relazing and EXACTLY what she needed right now. Roxanne moved one hand to let it trace mindless designs with a finger on his chest.*

[08:17] TT: *OH HIM BIG ALRIGHT*

[08:18] TT: *after a moment of sweet kisses and touches, he shifts to press his cheek to her's, letting out a contented sigh and muttering.* Yeah this sure beats crashing on my shitty futon.

[08:21] TG: *She laughs softly and snuggles against him before kissing his cheek gently.* Hahah, well im glad ya' consider my company better then a shitty futon.

[08:43] TT: *snickers* Im sayin crashin with you is way preferable to bein on my own. *that bachellor lifestyle is a little worn out by now*

[08:46] TG: Well i'm also glad you're stayin' here. *She nuzzles him and rolls over a bit so she is laying next to him, not on him, and then snuggles up to him.*

[08:46] TG: Less lonely with you, now that our spotty tater tot has knit herself up, hahah.

[09:16] TT: *wraps his arm around around her and resting his head on hers* Yeah some nerve shes got leavin her mama all alone.

[09:17] TG: Awww well she hasn't /technically/ left me. she just glued herself to one spot.

[09:33] TT: True. *glances over at the cocoon with another worried look*

[09:34] TG: *She sees that worried look, and this time leans back to reach up and kiss his temple, soothingly.* Shes gonna' be fine.

[09:44] TT: ... *just grunts softly before rolling back onto his side to face her, nuzzling up to her like a big needy baby*
