Tumblr has this incorrect image in its head of soldiers as privileged white men with an over abundance of bloodlust. In reality most soldiers & veterans I personally know are POC, LGBT, grew up in extreme poverty, or some combination of the 3. If someone told you, as a 20 year old lesbian, isolated from your family in a podunk assed little town with no opportunity, that you could make a living wage by joining the Guard? Guess what the fuck you’re doing. What else are you gonna do? Gotta eat.

I won’t argue that some of the things our military has been instructed to do at the behest of billionaires & politicians is awful. I also know most of the people getting chewed up and spit out made the decision to join with no other real options for a steady paycheck, and not even a big one. I live with two of them, half a dozen more are close friends.

When installing any software - PAY ATTENTION - don’t just keep clicking the OK or ACCEPT buttons. That’s how you end up with shit you don’t want or need (toolbars, more browsers, more pop-ups, etc). If there is an option for Custom Install - always click it and make sure the only thing being installed is the program you want, not extra crapware.

Troxel was born April 17, 1926, in Ninnekah. He fought in World War II and served as a combat engineer in Guam, Philippines and Saipan. After he was discharged from the Army, he returned to live inMarlow, Oklahoma. The WWII veteran is currently undergoing cancer treatment, and his family just wants to make him happy.
