Osteospermum I think. I think it is Osteospermum. Anyway, another one from up in Moama - right by the river, not 5 minutes from the border. Simple flowers, just love how much the white flower just pops amongst that purple.

Kangaroo Paw Sunrise Anigozanthos "Gold Velvet" Saw it on my way to the voting booth yesterday. Seeing as I've mentioned some of my favourite Aussie natives lately, it seems only fair to mention that kangaroo paw takes home a medal. They just have the most stunning architecture and when en masse they are incredibly striking. However, a lot of people have trouble growing kangaroo paw, since the conditions here on the East Coast are a far cry from its native Western Australia.
Dried Waratahs Some old and dried waratah flowers (Telopea) that were well well well past their prime... but that doesn't mean they still can't be that special kind of stunning that only these big ol' flowers are.

Yes to Marriage Equality & Rainbow Liberation
Here in Australia, our population said yes. Yes to marriage equality. It has not been a pleasant journey to this point and there is a ways to go until this becomes law. Politicians will now bicker amongst themselves to decide upon important laws that have the very real chance of further discriminating against Australia’s LGBTQI+ community, even if marriage equality is passed. Our pollies having been dragging this issue behind themselves through the mud and money for long enough.
Let’s not let them continue.

Pelargonium - The Geranium I saw this beauty on the side of the road up in Moama , next to where I was staying. I miiiight have nicked a clipping so I could bring it home and grow it down here... each geranium I have down here in Melbourne has a different leaf colour and flower and all grew from a cutting I nicked from somewhere else. They're just so easy to grow!
Grevillea & Bee I think grevilleas might be among my very favourite Australian native flowers. I also think that bee agrees with me.

Blue Fescue & Banksia Cone That hairy bulb is the old, dried Banksia flower cone on a dwarf Banksia - and I'm pretty sure the grass is Festuca glauca "Blue Fescue". I guess that qualifies this picture to still be about flowers! I don't know about y'all, but I absolutely love it - even the old Banksia cone... Especially the old Banksia cone.
Drosanthemum floribundum Also known as "dewflowers" or "ice plants", these guys grow natively in South Africa, but have found themselves welcome in Australia's sunny climate - perhaps even too welcome, becoming a weed in much of southern Australia.

Unidentified Leucospermum An unidentified Leucospermum species in my mate's backyard. Fun fact: While Leucospermum is from southern Africa, it is closely related to the Australian Banksia - and you can definitely see that.
DÃa de los Muertos Teleidoscope My good mate, fully ready for the Day of the Dead celebrations there in Albuquerque, NM. Hope y'all had a beautiful day.
Hope you all had a happy Halloween. This pic was taken by my good mate, Forrest, in Boulder, CO and subsequently warped and edited by me. Hope y'all had a spoopy one.
Wattle Window Cootamundra Wattle - Acacia baileyana While Cootamundra Wattle are native to Australia, they are not indigenous to thw state of Victoria where they are considered weeds because they outcompete and replace local species. But with all that said, they are one of my favourite trees of all time when in flower - they're so prolific that sometimes the whole tree just looks neon yellow.
Viola hederacea Kinglake National Park is quite the place to visit! The valleys are painted with dozens of different blooms right now; most of them are like this little native violet and no more than a few centimetres tall. However, just a warning - there are a fair few leeches about.

Azaleas So many blooms! Too many blooms!
Eucalyptus caesia - Gungurru May I present royalty among Gum trees, the Silver Princess. This mallee from WA is quite popular in Northcote home gardens with its powdery white trunk, thick, green-grey leaves, weeping habit, and big, bright pink flowers.
