Why "Make America Great Again" is a lie.
So, I made the mistake of going to the Donald Trump rally here in Memphis. Just for the spectacle, because I guess it hadn't really dawned on me how unfunny this really has become. Walking up to the hangar where it was being held, still cracking jokes about it, it didn't hit me until we got up to where they were selling all of the merchandise. I still hadn't heard any of the stuff you hear about his supporters saying on tv yet, but you could feel it in the air. There was just something about it that made you feel uneasy. That is if you're not a Trump enthusiast. So we went to the bathrooms before heading in to hear him talk, and while waiting for my wife to get done I noticed some black lives matter activists and a group of people crowded around them hurling their insults and belittling them. And yet, it still didn't entirely register I guess. Until we were walking in and some douche yelled "You forgot a color!" to someone holding a sign that read Black and brown lives matter. And that was it. Couldn't take it anymore and yelled Shut the fuck at him. Don't think he heard me, but, whatever. And that is when I couldn't handle being there anymore. I was so angry, sad, depressed, just every emotion at once, that people could act this way. You see these things on tv, you know this exists and happens everywhere, but until you witness it happen right in front of you, it means nothing. And this is why "Make America Great Again" is a fucking lie. A joke. There is nothing great about dividing a nation like this. Creating a divide on hate, bigotry, xenophobia, is not what makes us great. It makes us weak. I don't know where else to go with this rant. I've just been super depressed ever since this disgusting display of hatred and misunderstanding and misinformation.
