Ranu . 2nd of 11 portraits in More. What makes this portrait of Ranu stand out is the fact that she rarely smiled and that I rarely draw smiling portraits. We were laughing at something stupid and I told her to hold that. And just like that it happened. Only one smiling pic during the entire photo shoot. I used very little density of dot placement in this piece. The open spacing of the dots is difficult because if you don’t maintain the spacing throughout it is easily seen. At this time I was completing pieces in sections and that made it even harder. I have learned my lesson and now have a much better sequencing technique. Also teeth are tricky. They never look like what you think they should when drawing. Truly less is more when it comes to teeth. . The original art is owned by one of my longtime friends and supporter Mike Lowe. Ranu is on display at @thejointob in Ocean Beach, SD, CA. Thank you Ranu and Big Mike. . Original art pen and ink / illustration board 20”h x 30”w .
