New kemo.rocks server release is out! And here are some highlights:

☠ Openshift is dead and kemo server was moved to vpsfree.cz

🔐 Certificates for https are now issued by Let’s Encrypt

🆓 Kemo is no longer hidden behind httpd or NGINX and kemo undertow server handles all requests directly

Undertow was updated to version 1.4.20

✅ Security : enabled HSTS

✅ Security : enabled Content Security Policy

😡 macOS client is broken and will be not available for some time. What happen? After switch to new MacBook and Xcode was our workspace plagued by cryptic error messages and cannot be built.

🤠 As small side effect of kemo development was created small webpack dashboard plugin to IntelliJ IDEA. Check more at twfrbr.com

⌚️ Smart Watch Experiment

Watches connected via bluetooth are able to notify received messages by vibrations or LEDs blinking. Just extension of standard desktop notifications on your wrist.

🛠 OS X App Preview 🛠

This release is all about fixing and investigating web client connection issues we found in last weeks. Most of changes are invisible to users but we hope it will help us to create kemo little bit more stable and reliable.

Here are the changes:

Added temporary errors reporting feature into web client

Improved server side logging

Fixed websocket connection closing issue

Unfortunately were past weeks full of work on other projects (ugly enterprise projects). So no new releases of kemo 😢.

💡Swift tip💡: invalid inferred toolchain: could not find swiftc at expected path

When running Swift Package Manager project from Xcode don’t forget to set SWIFT_EXEC environment variable as is described in documentation. Otherwise you will see following error message:

New kemo.rocks mini release is out!

Unified icons on web and OS X client

New kemo web is not only nice but it’s also blazing fast. As usually it’s not result of some ‘magic’ technology but simply by following common web recommendations and continuous verification using tools like yslow and pagespeed.

Mustache.java as super simple template engine on backend

Openshift as super cheap and fast servers

Gradle and gradle-css-plugin for seamless integration of frontend building into our build process
