2003  -  2014  :  vienna  noelle  sullivan  was  born  on  october  18th  ,  2003  ,  the  middle  child  between  two  brothers  .  her  mother  ,  elisa  ,  worked  as  the  physical  therapist  for  their  local  soccer  club  ,  while  her  father  ,  mark  ,  coached  swim  at  the  local  high  school  .  spending  most  of  her  childhood  sitting  on  pool  decks  while  waiting  for  her  dad  to  finish  coaching  made  her  fall  in  love  with  the  water  long  before  she  was  old  enough  to  compete  herself  .  at  four  years  old  she  begged  her  parents  to  enroll  her  in  swimming  lessons  .  what  started  as  two  practices  a  week  quickly  became  the  center  of  her  life  .  by  the  age  of  nine  she  was  training  almost  every  day  ,  always  determined  to  shave  another  second  off  her  times  .  recognizing  her  incredible  natural  ability  ,  her  father  eventually  left  his  coaching  position  to  become  her  full-time  coach  .  it  wasn't  an  easy  financial  decision  for  the  family  ,  but  both  of  her  parents  believed  she  had  everything  it  took  to  become  an  olympian  .

2015  -  2021  :  by  the  time  she  entered  middle  school  and  high  school  ,  vienna  had  already  established  herself  as  one  of  the  country's  most  promising  young  swimmers  .  she  dominated  state  championships  before  moving  onto  national  and  junior  international  competitions  ,  rarely  leaving  without  a  medal  around  her  neck  .  coaches  constantly  described  her  as  a  prodigy  ,  and  many  expected  her  to  qualify  for  the  2024  olympic  games  before  she  had  even  graduated  high  school  .  every  aspect  of  her  life  revolved  around  swimming  .  friendships  came  second  to  training  ,  vacations  were  planned  around  competitions  ,  and  she  genuinely  couldn't  imagine  a  future  that  didn't  involve  standing  on  an  olympic  podium  .

2022  :  everything  changed  only  months  after  turning  eighteen  .  by  then  ,  vienna  had  already  been  pushing  through  persistent  back  pain  for  months  ,  convincing  herself  it  was  nothing  more  than  overuse  .  after  a  party  one  night  ,  she  got  into  a  car  with  a  drunk  friend  behind  the  wheel  .  the  crash  turned  the  injury  she  had  been  ignoring  into  something  impossible  to  recover  from  cleanly  .  medical  testing  later  confirmed  serious  damage  to  her  spine  ,  and  doctors  warned  that  returning  to  elite  competition  could  put  her  at  even  greater  risk  .  after  months  of  consultations  ,  rehabilitation  ,  and  trying  to  convince  herself  there  was  still  a  way  back  ,  vienna  made  the  heartbreaking  decision  to  retire  before  ever  getting  the  opportunity  to  compete  at  the  olympics  she  had  spent  her  entire  childhood  chasing  .

2023  -  now  :  rehabilitation  became  her  full-time  job  .  after  spending  countless  hours  working  alongside  physical  therapists  and  sports  medicine  specialists  ,  she  slowly  discovered  a  new  passion  .  rather  than  dwelling  on  the  career  she  had  lost  ,  much  like  her  mom  ,  she  became  fascinated  by  the  science  behind  athletic  performance  ,  injury  prevention  and  recovery  .  determined  to  remain  involved  in  the  world  that  had  shaped  her  entire  life  ,  vienna  enrolled  at  michigan  university  to  study  sports  science  with  the  goal  of  becoming  a  sports  physical  therapist  .  now  ,  she  hopes  to  become  the  person  who  helps  injured  athletes  find  their  way  back  to  the  sports  they  love.
