Team Ne-Yo

I wasn’t overly happy with this album. It didn’t wow me like the others and unlike most of the other albums I felt like this lacked the most cohesion. Even with the story telling and holding our hands through the whole albums I was still very ‘meh’ about it as a whole. I can only speak for myself and no one else, but it felt like it was missing a something important for Ne-Yo to make the album his own.

The protagonist was very boring and predictable too with a disturbing mix of aint-shitness. I literally called everything out as I was listening which was both fun and sad. It didn’t really feel like an album to me really? More like an overzealous mixtape. All in all I would rate it a 7/10.

How does it stack up to the other albums? In my humble opinion it really doesn’t. I’ve given myself time to adjust to listen again and again and I’ve found this album lacking something that would give it the Ne-Yo stamp of approval. Although the album has a clear story line, an accurate beginning middle and end, I still feel that there is a lot missing even though this was one of his longer albums.
