Our teachers are running their own small businesses in every single capital city in Australia and our rural and remote teacher base is growing rapidly! Teachers Australia is a unique application that provides our teachers with an innovative way to facilitate the Australian Curriculum face-to-face, online or in VR. We take 10% of the teachers hourly rate to link them with students in need INSTANTLY! We give 2% directly back to kids in care and Indigenous students to assist the Australian Government to close the Educational gap. Students search and filter teachers according to their needs and interests. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has been a part of the 6 year journey to make this company the success that we see today. Teachers Australia pays respect to the traditional elders and their families shown in the following images. We thank them for accepting us into their land, despite how much pain their family members past, present and emerging have felt and will continue to do so for many more years to come. Australia Day represents to our Indigenous Australians, pure and utter sadness. We honour the traditional owners of all Indigenous Australian lands. In particular, the Kowanyama mobs of Kokoberra, Yir Yoront [or Kokomenjen] and Kunjen clans. We pay respect to the Kabi Kabi mob, where our borrowed business land resides and thank them for allowing us to do business on their land. Food for thought… Our Australian Curriculum; - encourages the study of Australian colonisation and how Caucasian’s operate with our geography in HASS. & - Teaches narrative, persuasive, colonial poetry and exploring modern day media in English. With a “token” sprinkling of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ethics and values intertwined. Have we reached the time in our history to reconsider this? If indigenous Australians have been here for 100 000 years and Caucasians have only been here 250 years, why is our education system the way it is? When does the conversation gain momentum to teach Australia’s real history? Little, to no Australian Aboriginal Indigenous culture, heritage, values or ethos are assessed and therefore not valued by the powers that be in Australia. On this Australia Day, we at TEACHERS AUSTRALIA, apologise for everything that has happened to our traditional owners. We are sorry for the stories that have been lost and the culture that has been killed off through greed. Teachers Australia gives 2% of every transaction back to indigenous kids and kids in care to assist the Australian Government to close the educational gap.
