You guys have the gall to say Pixar plays it too safe when Cars 3 was about a white-coded male lead and a poc-coded female support having a conversation about the way that privilege can impact one's perceived ability to succeed and create this self-fulfilling prophecy of people in minorities not succeeding, followed by the lead realizing that his privilege gives him an opportunity to uplift a talented person from a less privileged situation who may have not gotten the chance otherwise, and ends with a female POC-coded character becoming the new main lead of a multi-billion dollar franchise, and all of this is done completely organically in a way that feels natural to a story about the next generation
