an attempt at a larger scale on the page, as well as a few other things. im sure its noticeable that there was a *lot* of erasing and redrawing
havent really made anything big lately so have some doodles. (ignore the two beezlebub faces, that was drawing practice for my own sake)
Bodies are hard. lol
Fair warning: maybe spoopy or unsettling image to some people

random bat. no idea what the face is from but seems familiar
liked the face so much from the last one i decided to push boundaries a little. Trying to find an open mouth to get an idea from was harder than i thought it would be
after a lot of trial and erasing. i finally got something i can be satisfied with.
So these are older things ive done in this book. But it also further goes to show that freeform experimentation can be very rewarding in understanding things and what makes something *look* good or off.
For instance. the random melting effect in the first image happened completely by mistake. the rest is attempts that have glaring issues or just doodles.
So ive been busy. The original intent was to track progress throughout my time learning. but the issue not only with just outright forgetting this blog existed, was the fact I actually dont draw nearly as much as one would expect someone to. But ive found theres something so freeing about having a physical sketchbook and a mechanical pencil. theres no calibration to mess with or software nonsense. just lines on a page and a thought. that being said. finding a foundation for yourself is important. steps you can repeat to lay the groundwork for whatever it is youre working on. foundation. writing tool control, and keeping that inner critic in enough of a check to let yourself flow free. sometimes even just making shapes for the sake of experimenting. I guess the best way to think about it is, not every art piece has to be a presentation. not every piece has to be a whole clear scene. despite how many scenes one can think of and want to make real. Ive found that playing with it for fun is far more rewarding, and learning what i need when i need it is a lot more motivating than forcing myself to learn a bunch of stuff ill forget if i dont use it right then and there. Anyways, rambling aside. As I go. Ill try and update more with whatever weird stuff I make. whether decent or outright terrible. (as a note, yes the fox face in the second image was copied from a reference as a test to myself of how well can i translate features im looking at sorta thing.)

For anyone that knows me, this show was the literal reason and motivation that pushed me to learn drawing. Originally I wanted to try out the shape of the eye and see if I liked it. But guess it turned into front facing cat.
i attempted a fox face based off a random google image
So its been longer than id have liked. but I have managed to get my hands on a cheap display drawing tablet. Along with watching and attempting various fundamental exercises ive found online. While this is far from amazing and is just a basic thing. I can at least feel good that the quality is improving. From Proko, to Drawabox, and Marc brunet. All these free digital resources are helping me start to understand the basic stuff. Not only that. But learning with various mediums that are suggested between different known teachers can give understanding that you can cross reference to anything youre doing. For anyone that sees this, even if you dont have a ton of time in your day, its possible to learn. Id like to be able to show myself as an example to that.
testing trying to make cleaner lines with less chicken scratching by following a reference image
some exercises i decided to try from drawabox's free courses

Some random stuff i felt compelled to make
been a time hasnt it. got inspiration to attempt to draw for a certain fox oc ive had knocking around for the longest time. missed a lot of features like the gem in the chest and the various fur color splitting but honestly im fine with this attempt as it is.
