Sometimes I find myself sitting in one spot for hours, staring at nothing, thinking of nothing, feeling nothing, and, most disturbingly, caring about nothing.

Life is to be lived, not controlled; and humanity is won by continuing to play in face of certain defeat.

“She wanted to say ‘Don’t leave me,’ but she couldn’t do it, not again. She was so tired of begging people to love her.”

I’m sorry I have trust issues, but when you give someone everything and they just toss it away like nothing, something inside of you breaks.

I would encourage anyone who has a crush on my character to watch it again and examine how selfish he is. He develops a mildly delusional obsession over a girl onto whom he projects all of these fantasies. He thinks she’ll give his life meaning because he doesn’t care about much else going on in his life… That’s not healthy.

This year I learned to be selfish. Selfish with my time, my heart, my feelings, my mind and most importantly myself. I spent entirely too much time feeling sorry for the things I couldn’t change, wishing for things I didn’t have, and begging for people who did not deserve me. It has taken me two decades to realize I am a prize worth winning, I am a caviar dinner not a gas station hot dog. This year I’ve lost people I thought I couldn’t live without and given myself everything I needed. Next year, I hope I can learn to love myself.

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.
