Casually stretching her neck, Caitlyn leaned back on her hands and glanced around them, occassionally stopping at the people in the park. ❛So that’s what you do in your free time. Why not using a little magic to cause a tiny incident like making them trip into your arms and then invite them to a cup of coffee. I would definitely do that if I had some magic.❜

“It’s one of the things I do in my free time.” He let out a chuckle. His face darkened slightly at her question about using his magic, but tried to play it off with a joke. “When’s the last time you saw me use magic for anything, let alone use magic to try and hook up with someone.” 

     ❝We only carry the best here.❞ She laughed as she took a huge sip from her drink.

“I should come around here more often.” He grinned, taking another sip.

     ❝Yeah.❞ She spoke with a nod. ❝So.. what’s up?❞

“Just live laugh loving it up.” He laughed. “No, seriously, if I’m not at work I’m pretty much sleeping or going out. Right now is the in between where I just need some coffee to get from one part of my day to the next.”

     Raising up her shoulders she looked up to the sky with a gentle smile ❝I’ve started to come here more. It’s nice to see the town from higher up.❞

“It is. For me it reminds me of how small I am compared to the rest of the world. Like there are so many people out there.” He stared out over the town. “It’s quieter up here, too. Not as much noise as down on the ground.”

Looking up toward the man she blinked a couple of times. That was one of her fears. Hurting people. “Do you ever think you will? I’m scared I won’t be able to control my magic or my own mind. I’ll dream that I’m standing there with a knife in one hand and my own fathers being pinned to the wall with my magic, just ready for me to murder him. The blood of the rest of my family already on my hands without any care for them. I’m stone cold.” Her words started coming out but she had this blank look on her face as she thought about her nightmares.

“I- I don’t know. Maybe if it was the only way to save someone I loved? I’ve thought about expelling my magic, storing it in something so I wouldn’t be tempted to ever use it, but that’s always felt like I’d be giving up a piece of me. Even if it’s a piece I hate.” His eyes fell shut as he listened to her description of her nightmares. Her nightmares were his reality. He still could see his parents faces looking up at him in shock. His older sister crying in the seconds before everything went dark. A single tear rolled down his cheek. He cleared his throat and looked up at her. “Have you thought about storing your magic? Hiding it somewhere? Giving it to someone you trust?”

“Ah but if I leave you’ll be so lonely and what kind of person would I be if I did that.” She laughed as her body shifted from being poked back. “Not much I guess, just been getting annoying phone calls from a random person and then my idiot self catching feelings for somebody.”

“You’d be a saint for honoring my wishes.” He grinned. His brow furrowed at her first statement. “Annoying phone calls from a random person? Like ‘We’re trying to reach yo about your cars extended warranty’ or heavy breathing before they hang up? There’s a big difference.” He grinned. “You’ve caught feelings for someone?! Who?! I need to know EVERYTHING.”

“I’m alright, mate. I’m good here.” He nodded his head more to try and believe it himself. “Well we can make it fun one day getting drunk or high.”

“Or have fun getting drunk and high.” He grinned.

might be a good idea ❝ i could. i can imagine. this building wouldn’t stand long if i try to take down walls ❞ especially of she used magic, everything could go wrong there ❝ when they are doing these programs, it looks easy, but maybe it is because they must speed them up and they have practiced many years ❞

“Yeah, sometimes calling in the pros is just the best option.” He grinned.

❝ oh okaaay ❞ she bit on her lower lip, nodded as he talked. entertaining, he said. should she give it a chance to watch? maybe. a soft giggle escaped her lips ❝ i’m not using any magic at all. it doesn’t always go the way you want it to, therefore i only do everything with my hands, much easier even if it can be a little difficult sometimes ❞ she only had one person who could help her, but no longer could. not without payment, which she hated, at the same time understood ; no one wanted to work for free ❝ the man who was here before and fixed up the bathroom, left some tools for me, said i’ll have to do everything on my own now. i think there’s one who can take off the walls? or color may it have been? see, i should watch these programs you speak of, or this building might not exist soon ❞ last part was a joke, she knew that wouldn’t happen. 

He let out a chuckle. “Or, you might just need to hire someone who actually knows what they’re doing. Remodels can be tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing.” Truthfully he actually had no clue what he was doing. Yeah he’d seen the shows, watched others do it, but seeing and doing are totally different things.

     ❝Most of the time it’s really just coffee.❞ She lightly laughed herself.

“Fair enough, fair enough.” He smiled.

     Shaking her head, she moved over a bit to let him join her, ❝Of course I don’t, join away.❞ She smiled up to him before responding, ❝Riley, it’s nice to meet you Gavin.❞

“So, do you come up to the roof often, Riley?” He asked as he took a seat beside her.

     ❝To forgetting.❞ She nodded as she lowered her glass and brought it to her lips.

He took a sip of his drink and coughed slightly. “Wow, that is good stuff.” He chuckled.

“Awe, are we sure?” She pouted as she continued joking. “Don’t worry big boy, your great friend Autumn is here.” She poked his arm before nodding, “Yeah, I know that all too well.”

Playfully he stuck his tongue out at her. “If my great friend Autumn is going to be mean to me then maybe I don’t want her here.” He teased and poked her arm back. “Oh yeah? What’s going on with you?”

“You have?” She questioned raising up a brow. “Shit is just hard.”

“Uh, yeah. I-I had a big power burst kind of similar... I- um, people got hurt.” He looked down to his hands and played with his fingers. “I haven’t used my magic in over 20 years.” He looked back up to her and nodded. “Yeah. It really is.”

“Count that as a blessing because I hear it’s horrible.” He joked with a laughter as he pulled out the seat and popped himself down leaning back against the chair. “Thanks.”

“It doesn’t even sound fun. Getting drunk or high should be fun.” Gavin smiled at the other. “No problem. If there’s anything you want to get off your chest I’m all ears, but if not that’s cool too.”
