Rett Syndrome

I haven't been blogging because Calli and I have been enjoying our summer but it is back to the basics and school is approaching slowly

Before I go to bed tonight I just wanna say; Thank You God for EVERYTHING you do us. For allowing us to be strong and always being able to see the good in our situation.

Yesterday was a fun filled day for us. We went to two graduations! At the first graduation we had to take Calli out because she wouldn't stop screaming. It was a small graduation inside of a hall. Although I am aware that Calli can't control it; I still have to be courteous to other people in a place like that. The second graduation she was well behaved and enjoyed all the music!!!

You know I never realize how hard somethings are for me until I open my mouth and have to talk about it. I am prepared for all things that will happen in the future but sometimes I do have a hard time. I have never asked God “why me?” And I never will because I know exactly why He made Me Callis mom.

Calli had her first seizure about a month ago and had to be taken to the hospital. Although she did not hurt herself and has only experienced one; her doctor has now placed her on medicine to help maintain them. There's a lot of scary things that can happen to a child with Rett Syndrome but experiencing that was by far the scariest thing for me!!

Callis birthday party was a success. She had a wonderful time. She was so excited to see her friends and family. The turn out was great and I want to thank everyone that came and enjoyed her birthday with us. Everyone was happy to see how much Calli has improved!

Today Calli held her cup on her own for the first time in a really long time. Children with Rett Syndrome usually lose the ability to do things they were once able to do. So that was really exciting to see!

Today I took Calli to a champagne party and a little girl asked if she was "slow" because she was really skinny. I just want to say to parents that don't have a child in my child's condition. You guys have to teach your children to be more sensitive and understanding to people and things around them no matter how old they are. You just never know what could happen. Your next child could be in my daughters position!

Calli goes to school 5days a week with in school therapy twice a week and outside therapy at a clinic 3days a week on top of doctors appointments and anything else she may need. Her schedule gets really hectic sometimes. But I love the fact that she’s always active and doing something that can push her to meet her full potential.

Calli has a FOUR day weekend! She's off school Friday and Monday for Memorial Day. Hope you guys have an awesome holiday weekend! 🎉
