official IV 6 rant
i didn't rant on my YT like I did for IV 5, so I decided I'm just gonna rant here.
.
I knew the MePhone and Fan parallels were going to grow VERY strong this season, but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
I don't know if this means anything, but the images with MePhone on the cliff took place in the episode where he began his healing journey.
Fan, however hasn't even THOUGHT about taking time for himself. Obviously I'm not comparing what they went through, more of comparing the timelines. They could've done the cliff scene with ANYONE in IV 6, but they chose Fan for the sake of PARALLELS. I would be shocked if Fan makes it out of this season alive with how the parallels are being portrayed, though I'm not sure how to describe the portrayal. It for sure feels unsettling though.
They're definitely going to try and imply that Fan is suicidal. When I first watched this episode, that was my initial thought. He literally sounded suicidal. And when looking through other II fandom spaces, I found that a lot of people felt the same way about how Fan was written this episode. I'm sorry, but the writers making him say "Sorry I lived." and then just not expanding on that would be bad writing. I didn't sleep after going to the meetup, SPECIFICALLY because that scene was so unsettling to me.
LOOK. THIS FRAME OCCURRED RIGHT AFTER HE SAID "Sorry I lived." YOU CANNOT TELL ME THAT THIS MAN ISN'T IN A CRISIS. (before the marshmallow fans come to roast me like knife roasted her in s1, yes, this was defensive manipulation. That was not Fan's intent, but that's how it comes across. I think Marshmallow handled the conversation well, but ONLY after he said that. She was just spewing stuff earlier in the argument. I'm not saying her being angry isn't justified. However, MeTag could have easily enabled their tracker at any time (Which I don't think they would do that) WITHOUT the presence of the game.
Can you tell I hate marshmallow (She used to be my favorite ironically)
Anyways, back to Fan.
He's only gonna get worse, and I think that's the route they should go. I don't want Test Tube to intervene UNTIL they actually do something with her character, instead of making her Fan's sidekick/therapist. I think it would be fine if she intervened after, just not during because they REALLY need to focus on her development.
Tying all of that back to the MePhone parallels, he quite frankly reminds me of mid-late season 2 MePhone, albeit more expressive. The whole "pushing people away" thing mainly. I don't feel like elaborating on that since it's pretty straight-forward.
IDK. It could just be me obsessing over Fan and over-analyzing stuff, but I feel like something is gonna happen with this.
thank you for coming to my TedTalk
