Dogs. Big dogs, mind you because anything below knee-height is a kind of mutant-rat and not a proper dog. At least thatâs what he tells Harry because that mutt he picked, and insisted of naming Mr Pickle of all things, is just ridiculous. That doesnât mean that Mr Pickle isnât welcome at Merlinâs flat as long as he gets along with the six dogs that already live there.
Scotland. The Highlands, green hills, fog and ghost stories. Celtic Glasgow games, whisky and kilts. There had been a point in his life when Merlin had sworn to never return but he is glad he changed his mind on that. Because a couple of bad memories are well worth the breath-taking landscape, the familiar dialect and checking if Nessie has moved to Loch Lomond on his and Harryâs first proper vacation.
The look on Eggsyâs face when he asks for Merlinâs real name and gets a âHamish Hartâ in response. Granted, there had been very good and frankly quite depressing reasons that they had kept their relationship and sexuality a secret. But these days itâs mostly amusing to see people figure it out.
Harry. Harry in the morning with bed-hair and almost as grumpy as Merlin himself. Making coffee in silence because neither of them are in any state to communicate yet.
Harry at work, Agent Galahad making snarky comments and laughing in his earpiece, elegant and smooth movements, fighting bad guys for a living and looking damn good doing it. The way he makes eye contact with Merlin during meetings when Chester or someone else says something dumb and Merlin always knows which sarcastic comment Harry just restrained himself from making.
Harry asleep on the couch or in bed in Merlinâs arms. Harry bitching at him about his taste in music or being horribly sappy to the point where Merlin has to kiss him to shut his ridiculous man up.Â
Harry in December, refusing to wear anything but ugly Christmas-jumpers (most of which Merlin has given him over the years) while theyâre at home.Â
Happy Harry, sad Harry, angry Harry, scared Harry. Harry in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and in health.Â
There are a couple of things Merlin thinks are spectacular, but Harry is his favourite.
