I might be alone on this hill but I’m the only one that kinda like Mr. Keene and absolutely despise what was done with his character in the movie?
He is the ONLY adult in the entire book that foes something to at least kinda help one of the abused children. He really wanted to help Eddie understand that what was happening to him wasn’t normal and that his mom was abusing him.
Of course trying to explain to a 10/11 years old kid that his mom is actually lying to him and abusing him is not really easy and of course is not gonna end up well, but at least he tried. And can you blame him for not doing more? The police in Derry didn’t even care if kids were beaten to death by their parents, you think that they would have done something with Sonia? OF COURSE NOT.
And another thing, him talking with Mike about the shooting of the Bradley gang is one of my favorite moments from the interludes so another reason I like the guy. I hear once that somebody accusing him to being a creep with Eddie but after reading the book trice I still can’t find anything about that, he is not exactly the nicest champ ever with Bill or Eddie or even Mike, but a creep is way to far.
I really don’t understand why they made him creepy with Bev in IT 2017 when in the novel is maybe one of the few characters not to be a complete weirdo with Eddie and treating him like a normal human being.
