I decided to do something new for a change haha. It’s a Tano Yuka interview from BOG - BIG ONE GIRLS - No. 026. Hope you enjoy it! It’s my first time translating for her, so hope it’s all right!

TanoTomu. A pair of members of the same generation who get along, people calls them “TanoTomu”. The fun space with the atmosphere engendered by the “tsun” of Tomu-chan and the “dere” of Tano-chan. Pay also attention to the conversation full of love for the 12th generation.

  Their relation is just business!? But they want to go to the spa together!! - Speaking of the most intimate ship amont the 12th generation… right!? Tano: Yes, exactly!! Tomu: Isn’t that TomuPon (Mutou Tomu & Oomori Miyuu)? (lol) Tano: No, that’s TanoTomu!! Everyone thinks that!! Tomu: That didn’t come into my mind~ (lol) - Is it always like this, with Tano-chan chasing Tomu-chan? Tano: Well, yes (honest). Tomu: Ahahaha (big laugh) Tano: Tomu is almost never dere toward me. Unfortunately, it’s something I’m forced to accept. Tomu: Today’s shooting was super fun too, wasn’t it? When we scribbled on each other’s tank top, first she wrote “Yuuka LOVE” on mine and then, while I was drawing myself back a bit, I thought “I can’t do nothing but this!!” and I drew abs (lol). Tano: Though you were thinking “It can’t be nothing but ‘Tomu LOVE’”!! In this way I have abs both with my clothes and without them. Tomu: Taking you on my shoulders was fun too. When I was in primary school, during gymnastics, I did it both being above and below so it wasn’t scary at all. Tano: It was scary for me. Like, I don’t have the image of being lifted up so it seems about to give in. I have this kind of personality so I don’t understand if I’m about to fall (lol) Tomu: Ahaha, that’s the problem? (lol) When you had to carry me on your back I thought to lightly jump upon you but you were like “Wait, get on slowly”. Tano: Because it’s scary. What would I do if you got injured!! As you see, surprisingly, I’m the prudent type. - What is the other for you? How is your relation? Tomu: Just business!! Tano: Enough with it, even fans now ask me “Is it just business!?”. It’s not like that!! We meet often in the private too, we also have serious talks. Tomu: They often ask it to me at the handshake events too and I just answer “Eh, just business” (lol). But actually we have serious talk, we play together, we go to eat together… Tano: Yep, the other day we went to eat together just the two of us after a long time. Tomu: The day Yuuka passed the audition for “WIZ ~Oz no mahou tsukai~”. After all I was really happy and I wanted to tell her “congratulations”. Tano: She was really happy for me (she seems happy). I’m an only child so she is like an onee-chan. I can talk to her about everything, she tells me things exactly for me. With Tomu’s answer I can understand. Tomu: Inside Yuuka the thought of “myself” is really strong, I think her ambition is amazing. Tano: Yep. Tomu: Here you should say “it’s not like that”!! Tano: Kyahaha (without denial) Tomu: But she is a really moody person, it immediately appears on her face (lol) Tano: Ah, but lately I cured it. Tomu: Sure, lately it disappeared. You’ve become an adult. Tano: You know, I changed consciousness and I became able to have fun honestly. - You two joined senbatsu together for “Kibouteki refrain”!! Tomu: During the announcement I’ve been called before. Tano: I was the last of the lasts. Tomu: She remained alone so when Yuuka’s name has been called I thought “really thank God”. Yokoyama (Yui)-san and the others from the previous Team A were like “Waaa” and ran up to her so I could only look at her from outside but when we came back in the locker room, with (Takahashi) Juri, the three of us talked about various things. Like we want the whole 12th generation to join a 16-members senbatsu one day. Tano: We can do it. The personality of each one is strong. Other than that, knowing that you was worried so much about me made me really happy. - The next time, where will you two direct to? Tomu: Now I’m studying to become a weather forecasterer, so I want to do my best there. And I also wanna try to do the model for a page about make-up. I like cosmetics, my skin is strong so I wanna make a good use of that. Tano: It’d suit you!! Now I’m receiving a lot of chances, so I want to fulfill them. In the future I don’t want to do just theather plays, but I also wanna become a widely known actress. Tomu: Time ago you said you wanted to become an artist, didn’t you? Tano: Yes, but if I have to say my desire, the best it’d be to also sing while centered to be an actress, like Kuroki Meisa-san. First I want to be seen by the people who like theater plays with “WIZ” and become a person being caughted in something. Tomu: I’m really envious you have works outside of AKB48 so I want you to keep them with care. - Then, in the end, there is a place in which you two want to go? Tomu: Not in particular (lol) Tano: But I’ve a lot of places I wanna go. In particular at the spa!! At the beginning of the new year the practice for the play will start immediately so we have to go and spend a night together within the end of the year, ok!! Tomu: Spend a night together… Sorry, I don’t have time~ (lol) Today it was super fun so I’d like to do a gravure like this once again. Tano: Yep, I was looking forward to this day since a lot of time ago. Tomu: I want to do it when it’ll snow. And doing something like a snowball fight. Tano: I wanna do it!! But I’m a bit scared of what you will do to me (lol)

Yuuka: The biggest thing that changed my life was to become friend with Yokoyama-san.

Yui: When we came back in the locker room after the stages, I thought probably she was the type who enjoy to spend time alone. But she had something like a shadow. I felt like maybe she was worried about something. So in that moment…

Yuuka: She noticed me and asked to me “Tano-chan, is it everything ok?”.

Yui: She was like “I don’t know what I want to do”, “I don’t know what I should do”. She also said “I don’t have a dream”. I told her “So you don’t know what you should do…”

Yuuka: “You’re still young, you should keep being Tano-chan”. That’s what she told me.

Yui: “You’re doing your best, it’s something everyone experienced, obviously it happened to me too”.

Yuuka: “Since when anything happened, I don’t feel like I’m changed”. I think I received those words.

TanoTomu talk "What they can say now" The AKB48’s famous pair joined their desired senbatsu in the same moment!! Talking together about their yearned senbatsu, about their generation, about their impatience because of the kouhais who have been chosen… The interwoven “TanoTomu” pair formed by the 95% tsun Tomu and the 120% dere Tano-chan talks about their real feelings!

The other side of the big cry of Tano-chan during the announcement of the senbatsu. - Congratulations for joining the senbatsu in the same moment! Tano: Really, that! That! - You’re talking about the “in the same moment”, right? Tano: Ehehe~ (grinning) - During the announcement, Mutou-san’s name has been called before. How did you feel in that moment? Mutou: While I was talking with Naana-san (Fujita Nana), a member of Team A like me, who was next to me about “Will we be chosen?” I heard Sayaya’s name (Kawamoto Saya) so I thought “Once again, new members surpassed us…”. - So you felt down for a moment. Mutou: While I was thinking “We, 12th gen members, are not be called “young members” anymore… what should we do?” my name was suddenly called! I was surprised and I cried. I was wearing dark japanese clothes and Kawaei (Rina)-san and Annin-san (Iriyama Anna) laughed at me saying “Are you gonna cry wearing those clothes?” (lol). - Tano-san, how did you feel when Mutou-san’s name has been called? Tano: Eee, it was quite a shock. Mutou: Hey! (lol) Tano: It was just a thought of mine, but I thought I did a lot of things with Tomu, we had been close so I was like “Even Tomu went ahead~ (cry)” (lol). Mutou: I’m glad, after that, Yuuka has been called too. In that moment, I was going to the stage while crying thinking “What about Yuuka!?” so I tried to look at her and she was crying all alone (lol). Tano: Yep! - Tano-san remaining alone became a topic. Tano: The members next to me have been called one after the other! At the beginning, Sayaya was called, while I was surprised, Tomu was called, while I was saying to Renacchi (Katou Rena) “I’m glad for them” even Renacchi went to the stage (lol). “W-what? Am I left alone?”. The order of the called names was really mean! I was really scared! It was too bad for my heart!! Mutou: Surely, they were expecting some good reaction (lol). Tano: When my name has been called, I was surprised, I cried, I was so happy I couldn’t stand (lol) Mutou: Yuuka’s name wasn’t called until the end so I was talking with (Takahashi) Juri who was called before of her, but finally she has been called and I was happier than how I was for myself. Tano: You like me so much… Mutou: No, no, it’s not like that. Tano: Eee~! You cried when I was called, right? Mutou: Oh well, I did it. - Ah, this subtle feeling of a tsundere, it’s very TanoTomu-like. Mutou: Ahahaha.

Special thoughs about senbatsu and the born self-consciousness - “Senbatsu” has really a special importance, hasn’t it? Tano: Obviously! To enter in “Labrador retriever“‘s senbatsu was my target, my fans supported me saying “The next time you’ll enter for sure!”, but I couldn’t join the summer senbatsu and it was really frustrating… Mutou: It’s the same for me. During my seitansai last year, I declared “This year I’ll absolutely join the senbatsu!” so I really wanted to join the senbatsu of 32 members of “Labrador retriever”. But in the end, I wasn’t called… So I thought this year I wouldn’t have been called anymore and a part of me even gave up. - Have you ever talked about “senbatsu” just the two of you? Tano: Ah, once we talked really seriously about it. Mutou: It happened! Via mail. Like “We have to work even harder… we’ll absolutely do it!”. Tano: Obviously when a member of our same generation or a kouhai joins the senbatsu we congraulate with her, but it’s frustrating, we feel impatience… it’s a really complicated mood. Mutou: That’s why on Janken Taikai’s day, after the announcement, in the backstage, with Juri, the three of us once again got really happy. Tano: There we also fired up saying “We’ll do our best in order to make all the 12th gen join the senbatsu the next time!” All the 12th generation in senbatsu is my dream! Mutou: There are only strong chara in the 12th generation so there may be that possibility. - Does something change in your consciousness after you joined the senbatsu? Tano: I feel like my thoughts of “I don’t have to rely on senpais” and “I have to do it by myself” became stronger. Mutou: Being in senbatsu, the people who will watch us will increase so this is really a moment in which we have to do our best. If we won’t do it properly, we won’t show the persuasive power to lead our kouhais. Tano: It’s not just doing our best separately, we have to do it in order to connect everything with AKB48 and our life from now on. You know, Team 8’s Yamada Nanami-chan told me “I admire Tano-san!”. There are girls aiming at us! We have to do our best!! Mutou: Eh, what does she see in you… Tano: That’s rude!! She surely likes interesting older sisters~ (lol).
