Floral memorial garlands you can buy that are probs the cause of these peoples deaths?
I was in a junk shop today and you could buy mini plastic 'dad' garland things n i only had £2 and they were £6 so i couldn't afford to buy it but i might go back for one bc i dont know anyone called dad so i think it would be quite funny. Currently thinking about how humans will pay hundreds of pounds for some aesthetic plastic shit for a corpse
I went to Newcastle Unis open day and was v impressed by the degree show and the uni and city in general, I’m definitely thinking of applying next year. Here are some of my fav pieces from the degree show.

Last 7 days of the rose paintings. The flower didn’t change much between the 2nd and 5th apart from the dusty pink colour turning to a darker duller pink. On the 6th the flower crosses the line from dark pink to purple and the petals are flopping together and look limp. The next day a burst of yellow appeared in the centre of the flower and that continued to spread the next day. Also the leaves started to lose their opacity and blobs of yellow were appearing. I’m suprised at how slowly the flower decayed, because it has been dead for 16 days but still looks beautiful. I guess it’s the same for humans.
The first 8 days of rose paintings. I bought a bunch of 4 pink roses for £1 from an outdoor plant shop just off of market st. I painted it for 16 days, recording the small movements and shifts in colour. The rose started off a soft dusty pink with fuchsia rimmed petals. All of the petals were pointing upwards, forming a swirl if you looked at them from above. Its leaves were a very yellowy-green apart from the 3 leaves on the left which were a dark, dull green that never changed much. 3 days in the petals had started to open up and the fuchsia became plummy. On the 6th day the petals chose to fold onto the rightside, splitting the flower into two sections. The petals were still smooth and pink at this point, and the only thing that had changed about the leaves was the amount of light reflecting off of them on different days.

Surrealist Renaissance Paintings
I want to experiment with painting a Hulme Renaissance/Punk Renaissance Painting. It will be quite humorous but I can also get alot of detail and information in with, buildings in the background and lots of people, objects, animals and vehicles. I’m also interested in his use of tryptic canvas’ and will experiment with that.

Current Feelings.
I feel a bit confused rn and annoyed at myself. In one of the survey responses, a man called ‘Stu’ has made me re-evaluate what I’m doing and step back from it. This is what he said ‘I hope you have your own scene rather than trying to recapture something that someone else made, and probably wasn't really there that much in the first place. Good luck. Stu’ AND HE’S RIGHT. I’m trying to tell someone elses story that I don’t know that much about and don’t really have the right to snoop into these peoples pasts. I feel very unmotivated and confused right now.
Please take the survey titled "The Crescents and 80s and 90s Punk in Hulme". Thank you so much
I’ve made a survey for Crescents residents to answer. So far 17 people have completed it and the results have been v interesting. I now know what kindof aesthetics and symbols these people feel represent the time well. But also they’ve shared personal experiences from living their that I think are important to portray.

Diego Rivera
Anish Kapoor
I love his choice of bold colours and the abstract shapes, also the swirls on the floor and walls look like graffiti and are similar to some of the art I’ve seen on the walls of the crescents
