âbut tamlin didnât try to teach feyre anythingâ what is this then?????? all of it is from ch 2-4 of acomaf
she didnât like it nor cared for it but funny how rhysand came into the picture, started to make her do it, she did a 180 on it and started to care about these things
and this is what feyreâs life is now- spending rhysandâs money, wearing gowns, hosting parties and gets off on being bowed to
important bonus;
tamlin introduced to her to his friends, the friends who had fought with him and she didnât care but with inner circleâŚ.. well suddenly she did
look, sheâs allowed to change her mind. maybe all she needed was the right worse guy but as always with feyre thereâs this rewriting of the narrative, here itâs; tamlin only treated her like his pet. but he didnât. once he had treated her like a lady
we all know once rhysand started taking feyre away it all went to hell, iâm not denying that
im simply saying that tamlin had wanted feyre to be apart of all of his life and court beyond someone to warm his bed, he wanted her to know his friends, his court and the joy, he tried to teach her things
this idea that tamlin wanted feyre to be submissive lil wife is literally not it in canon,
edit to add; tamlin was once okay with her learning how protect herself despite what lanthe had said and despite what later feyre thinks of him
"Nesta wasn't locked up, she could have walked down the stairs!"
Ok so Feyre wasn't locked up either, clearly the shield around the manor could be broken bc mor does so. Why didn't Feyre just do that then?? Oh because she hadn't trained that power and wasn't strong enough yet??? Is that maybe at all similar to Nesta being physically weak and unable to walk the steps?????????
The beginning of acowar wants to portray tamlin as bad and stupid for believing feyre would or could love him, but it accidentally makes him the only one to not doubt her. Feyre has told everyone that she was abused, but alis says, no, I heard you were smiling in summer, so I won't believe you and doubt you were abused. Tamlin is criticised for believing feyre was abused despite having gained weight and looking healthier. And it is to me a disgusting implication that abuse is always outwardly visible, that the right and good characters doubt feyre's story of abuse, while only evil tamlin believes her unconditionally. Feyre even uses this idea of outward visibility by herself abusing tamlin (bc yes the provocation into a breakdown and then consciously choosing to get hurt to portray yourself as a victim is reactive abuse, feyre is following the darvo pattern). But bc she bears the physical appearance of abuse it must be her that's the victim, there can be nothing psychological going on.
It also fits with Rhysand's powers as a mind manipulator, his abuse never leaves physical marks and is invisible and therefore not real. It is a pretty harmful view on abuse imo, to only view it as physical manifestation, be it malnutrition or wounds. It is repeated over and over again: lucien is abused bc he is seen wounded even though we never see how it happened, nesta is healed bc she is eating again, tamlin only registers as hurt in the narrative once he is physically thinner and unkempt.
The book cannot conceive that nesta and feyre are in abusive relationships as long as they are eating well. This could be an interesting comment on these girls being thankful for incredibly psychologically isolating and controlling situations bc they were starving for so long, the simple fact of not suffering malnutrition is enough for them. But I know for sjm abuse is only men punching and not men sweet talking and keeping information from you and controlling your food, your body, your location, your sexual behaviour, etc etc.
If this series was in the hands of a competent writer, I'd think the reoccurring motif of headpieces on evil people (Amarantha and her golden crown/Ianthe's circlet) and during "evil" deeds (Tamlin's golden crown during the tithe) would be purposeful, and Rhysand constantly putting Feyre in crowns would be a subtle but ingenious way of signifying his corruption of her, but alas

And can I say that Nesta and Elain are isolated in Velaris?
Because they are. They never saw the worldâPrythianâoutside Velaris, they went to the Hewn city one time and Nesta went to a few meetings with Cassian when meeting with Eris. They do not have money of they own, we never even learn what happened to their inheritance from their father. As far as I know Nesta does not get paid for her work in the library or with the Valkyrie's. Quiet frankly they live on Rhysand and Feyre's money, and "kindness".
(Remember in acofas where Feyre made Nesta go to their solstice party using her rent money?)
Elain literally lives with them (how uncomfortable it must be to live with your little sister and her husband, and they famously like to solve their arguments with sex), and has nothing of her own. Her friends are their spies/maids that Feyre paid extra for befriending her and "helping" her.
They live in Velaris where Rhysand can tell any employer not to hire them, where Rhysand rules from.
But Nesta likes Velaris and Rhys offered her multiple jobs before locking her up!
Yes, he offered her jobs that most likely served him and where he would be her full-time boss. As a girl with a brother in law(that is like a brother to me no matter how much i shade him) I would not want him to be my boss, and do as he says.
If they wanted to escape the city they couldn't, because they do not know anyone outside of Velaris(someone they could trust). The reason they could lock Nesta up was because she had no other choice, had never saw the rest of Prythian or the Night Court.
The concept of it all is just wierd and uncomfortable for me. They live on Rhys and Feyre goodwill, and we all saw what happens when they do something they do not like.
And while we're here: WHAT THE FUCK IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT VELARIS?
Nesta "bullying" Feyre is honestly so fucking tame for a sibling relationship.
Dude, I'm a younger sibling. Older siblings bully their younger siblings all the time. But, if anyone ELSE does it, they will fiercely fight for you. That's just how it is.
And us younger siblings? We're annoying. It's practically in the job description.
My brother has beaten my ass MANY TIMES (I've also kicked him in the balls several times, dw I fight back babes), but in the end, NOBODY ELSE will put that much effort to help me on my college essays, fix my resume, and get me internships.
Nesta said some mean words? Boo fucking hoo. Y'all act like Feyre is helpless. Isn't she the all-powerful Cursebreaker High Lady and all that good shit?
Nesta was also fucking GROOMED by her mother, but somehow y'all forget about that. You also forget that when the FAERIES came and messed with Nesta's family? She went after Feyre in Prythian. She truly exhibits elder sibling traits to a T.
Nesta was never Feyre's abuser. Rhysand was. But y'all will go to the mat to defend his loser ass.
Nesta Did Open Up
She gets so much grief for "pushing people away" and not communicating her needs and traumas to people who "just want to help her", but there are many times Nesta speaks up about her wants and needs and fears and it all gets disregarded.
ACOWAR she tells Feyre she is too traumatised to take baths anymore, and Feyre offers to get something fixed for her so she doesn't have to, but this never happens. Instead Nesta forces herself to have baths, building up her tolerance over a long period of time.
She tells Cassian who is dragging her out of an inn that she wants to stay and listen to the music, but he disregards that and doesn't even consider that music might actually make Nesta happy, until someone else verifies it.
She tells the IC that she desperately, frantically does not want to scry again. The whole point of locking her in the House of WInd was apparently to "help her heal from her trauma", and here she is saying, this thing was extremely traumatic for me, please don't make me do it again, but they double down on the pressure and exploit her protectiveness of Elain to manipulate her into doing so.
Solstice party, Cassian knows the sound of fire crackling makes her think of her dad's neck being snapped. He spends the whole party with other people, aware that Nesta is by the fire and suffering, and all he does is spare her the odd glance and feel gratitude she's pushing it down and not acting out.
Nesta tries to tell Cassian why she finds accepting the Mating bond difficult, not loving Cassian, not accepting a future with him, but the Mating bond itself, because it means relinquishing her last shred of humanity, and Cassian, who this whole time has been telling Nesta "just talk to me, I can take it, be as mean as you want just don't shut me out", lashes out at her and says he's shackled to her.
To which the only thing Nesta asks him to do is give her space, and he immediately starts thinking of ways he can override her wishes.
Just another reminder that none of their actions, Feyre, Cassian's, the IC, was about helping Nesta, it was about helping themselves. It was about getting Nesta to play happy families for Feyre's sake, it was about getting Nesta to submit to the Mating Bond for Cassian's sake, and it was about turning her into a weapon to be exploited for the IC's sake.
And yeah, none of these people have to like her. None of these people are obligated to want good things for her or make decisions for her benefit. But if that's the case, they should just stay away from her.

Tamlin chibi
honestly my opinion of feyre's breakup note is that even if she had been reading and writing perfectly from the beginning, even if rhys wasn't a mind reader or hadn't been publicly abusive and cruel and evil to people in general and feyre in specific, even if all if that was true, that note was shit and she owed him more
đď¸ Rhysand sees Feyre as the victim, blaming her sisters for her hunting for them while they did "nothing".
đ Tamlin sees Feyre as fulfilling the dying wish of her mother, having honorable values and sees a kindred spirit in someone who cares for duty and taking care of others/their responsibilities.
I think this translates into the way they treat the sisters - Rhysand sees them as a burden he must support because he is magnanimous and they are his mates family, but he hates Nesta because she won't do what he wants her to and wants them both to be useful to him, holding their dependence on him over their heads as a bargaining chip.
Tamlin sees them as someone he left vulnerable by taking away their source of food and income, and so provides for them to be self sufficient, even in the human lands, even not doing anything to benefit himself, and while taking no credit for it. He holds no ill will towards them, until he and Nesta start arguing at the HL meeting and his only gripe is that Nesta can be cruel with her words, not that he thinks they are useless.
The sisters are not truly self sufficient in the Night Court, they are not free to travel where they'd like, date who they like, act how they'd like. Their jobs are all to serve the Night Court IC.
I'm doubting the narrative of who actually empowers women in this series.
I think the thing that truly bothers me most about the pregnancy plot, besides the fact Rhys was making decisions for Feyreâs body and life without her input, is that he keeps a secret from her when that is the one thing sheâs asked him not to do. Itâs a whole plot in acomaf that Feyre wants to be included and hates being left in the dark, especially when someoneâs doing it to âprotectâ her. She makes that so abundantly clear. And we see the fallout when she finds out he did keep something important from her, when he thought she couldnât handle it. she finds out he lied about the bond and dumps his ass in Velaris and fucks off to the woods and refuses to speak to him (good for her)! But then heâs faced with such a similar situation in SF and he does the same thing! Like he didnât learn anything the first time! He thinks heâs protecting her from stress in an already stressful situation because he doesnât think she can deal with it when thatâs not his call to make and she has explicitly told him not to do exactly this
And this here is why I kind of roll my eyes at the feysands and sjm defending his sorry self.
if it happens once, it's a mistake. If it happens multiple times, despite being told to stop, it's a pattern of behavior and Rhysand has hidden the truth from Feyre at least 3 times (using her as bait for the attor, the mate bond, and the pregnancy) and she told him to stop THE FIRST TIME. His response? "Maybe next time." This man has no intention of telling her anything.
So no, this wasn't a mistake he made because "it's his first life too uwu" it's a choice he made, KNOWING that Feyre, his mate and wife and eventual mother of his child, HATES to be left in the dark when it comes to her protection

let me say it again; cassain doesnât love nesta, he loves the idea of having a woman like her who he believes is out of his status -ignoring that heâs the general of a court, part of high lordâs circle, privileged and rich af- being his mate
notice how he often brings up him being a bastard and âsomeone like himâ whenever nesta makes her boundaries and keeps him away
he also slaughtered an entire village in revenge for his mother and never was held accountable bc of the privilege he had - keep in mind, heâs been best friends with the heir and now high lord of night court since he was a child, lived with the lady of night court
this fuckass guy finds out little nesta used to dance with older men and instead of realising how fucked up it was, his first thought was âa princeâ bc thatâs all he focused on listening to that storyđ
nesta gets sa by kelpie and knowing that he still sleeps with her right after bc she asked, if he cared about her he wouldnât have and instead been there for her
âpoor cassianâ kill this guy
still hilarious how rhysand said any human that want protection can come to velaris and get it as if the city is known to public. like how will humans even enter night court, crossing all the other courts first and alive??????? and feyređ fucking praises thatđ bc heâs kind, girly u dumb
i swear this was a scene for tamlin and sjm changed it to rhysand bc no way she didnt see how stupid it was
