gyro follows the path of will anthonio zeppeli. however, in a tibet's temple gyro learns not the ripple, but metta (loving kindness). it's maybe the most friendly and outward-facing buddhist practice, changing social reactions and developing ability to communicate.

as it's a modern au, in this universe gyro has more outer freedom, and it's possible for him to change his life now. the death penalty is still legal in italy in this timeline. gyro can't follow his family's violent traditions anymore, and an alternative path finds him naturally. that's how: gyro receives a trip as a gift when he's sixteen (he pleaded parents for it) and, during that journey, he decides to become a tibetan monk. his father stops speaking to him, but gyro stays in touch with his mother. he calls her. she doesn't understand his choice, but she cares about him.

gyro remains a monk for five or six years. after that, he goes to the us to build his own future and to reinvent his family business according to the new principles he learned abroad. this becomes his path to independence, to the end of his social isolation, and to his core values.

in the us he meets johnny... and that's where the next chapter of the story begins.
