The Creative Boggs

Tamara Y. Boggs is a burgeoning freelance visual artist residing in metro Atlanta, GA. Her choice mediums are graphite, charcoal and oil and acrylic paints. Her portfolio covers a variety of subject matters and compositions, including realistic child portraits, still lifes and representational abstract paintings. Consistent throughout her body of work is her attention to intricate details as illustrated through the pattern of wood grain or the individual ruffles in a bridal gown. Propelled by a major life change, Tamara has reclaimed this childhood gift in order to forge a new life direction and career path. Thus, her work explores the themes of grappling with failure and adversity, reclaiming youthful fearlessness and capturing the beauty in friendships. It is within these themes that she finds healing. Currently, her work is displayed at Roswell City Hall as part of its celebration of African American artists. Her work also is featured in the 2017 Roswell Roots Festival brochure, both the front and back covers. Other public showings of her artwork at non-profit venues include the Roswell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the Groveway Group Community Open House. Tamara was born on April 4, 1981 to George and Lavada Boggs and has two (2) younger brothers, Brandon and Bryce. She holds a masters degree in Sport Administration from Georgia State University and a bachelors degree in Biology from Emory University. Growing up in a house of athletes, she has been a collegiate fastpitch softball coach, All-American college student-athlete, High School Hall of Fame athlete and worked in the front offices of professional baseball and hockey sport teams. In her former life, she has been employed in a variety of other industries, such as accounting and finance and telecommunications.
