i think of what lay beneath the asphault the brick was there a rabbit's home or simply rock before me and i?

further along i come across a tree a stump would it have been short? would it have had many branches? would it have been the most magnificent green?

i will not know nor will the creatures who feed on the bark nor the chairs built in its image or the sunsets unbroken by felled leaves suffering guilt by association to the log used for the table in my dining room and our walls to house the few

and in the event i am felled laid with the ground by the same fate may the table feed many and the chairs sit the weak may the birdhouse be painted in a beautiful green

for i am one with the bugs and i am one with the creek and i am one with the birds and i am one with the trees and i am one with the grass and i am one with the leaves
