COPYCOVER - SCAM / PHISHING / ART THEFT WEBSITE ALERT:

So, @blacksanz found out about this website called “copycover”, which apparently sells numerous iPhone casings with all kind of arts. You can go to any picture and even modify how it looks and buy it for 5 to 7$. Or so that’s what it looks like. 

IT IS A SCAM AND IT DOESN’T OWN COPYRIGHT TO ANY OF THE ARTS SHOWN.

None of the artists or authors of the pictures has given their specific permission for them to be sold, but instead it seems they have been randomly picked up from sites such as Google, DeviantArt, twitter, etcetera. It seems it uses some bot or alghotrim that takes results from those places -or from google- and puts the images as sellable items. In those screenshots (from @blacksanz ) there are some examples of her own art being stolen, together with @chocolate-rebel‘s and @mausketches‘s art (from the ones I can recognize). There is a lot of people who found their own art in this site.

At the moment, it seems it’s actually impossible to buy any of the items, and it seems the true purpose of the website is either phishing or malware. Any information you put in this site might be used and stolen, so it’s pointless to ask them to take down your art. There is even a page to ask them to take down the art, but I do not recommend using it, since the whole website is shady and they might take your information for any purpose. Instead, report it to the dcma website.
