I’m actually not okay about Oban Star Racers. I just finished my second rewatch of it and I have some feelings. Sappy rambling below with spoilers

I don’t know why it hit me this hard. I’ve seen Oban before, I knew how it ended and everything. I felt so sad for Jordan. I didn’t like Aika this time around. I’m happy for Molly. I wanted to know what Rick decided to do with his life. I’m nervous that Jordan won’t be coming back in the potential sequel series.

Honesty Jordan messed me up this rewatch. I thought he was cute and endearing, even if he was a little cringe, but then I started to get the feeling that he was only put in the show to satisfy the networks need for a boy protagonist. So I thought, okay that may be the case, actually it totally is the case. For the most part Jordan could be removed completely and nothing major would change. That made me sad, because I really liked him on this rewatch, I thought he was cute. It was like watching a person be destined to fail and still rooting for them anyways. Then, when the finale happened, I realized my biggest critic I had of the writing the first time I watched the show was completely wrong. See, I thought Jordan was severely underdeveloped and his motive for wanting to become the avatar came out of nowhere, but that’s only if you take what he says to Molly at face value, which I did. This time around, I realized that, no, he just said that to Molly to make her feel better. He literally sacrificed his whole human life to protect the girl he likes and knows she doesn’t feel the same way AND AFTER HE MAKES THE SACRIFICE HE STILL PROTECTS HER FEELINGS AND DOESN’T DEMAND ANYTHING FROM HER IN RETURN. Like, that is the most selfless act of love, kindness, respect, care literally ever and it really crushed me this time around when I realized that. AND HE CRIES. The last shot of him is him CRYING. I CAN’T. It hurt me so much. He will live so many lifetimes, far beyond what Molly and anyone he’s ever known ever will, based on a decision to save someone who never reciprocated the same kind of feelings that he did. Literally the best I love you fiction cartoon character Jordan.

AND I NEVER REALIZED THAT JORDAN’S GRANDPA ACTUALLY SHOWED UP IN THE SERIES

Imagine The Photarch, having faked a resurrection, witnesses her Lil' Wicky go full angel mode and perform an honest-to-shaper resurrection on Teor, then, as a consequence of expressing such power, Wicander falls into an unresponsive state, so his family takes him away and strings him up in a basement somewhere to leech all the light out of his blood.

I like to imagine a new filament starts going around, and the gang commandeers a sample. Teor takes it to the fiends at knife and pigment who inform them that this is Wicks' blood. Last time Teor was there, they had asked him if he would like to dye his mane. This time, he asks them to apply glowing tattoos derived from Wicks' angel blood as a reminder of his failings that will grant him cool abilities TBD. And he marches out of there, with a newfound sense of determination to find and free the one whom he had sworn to protect, but whom he had always been protected by, instead!

I haven't actually finished the episode so I'm lacking details, but when people are talking about Teor's death, they're talking like it's a permanent/negative thing and not like the party is literally trying to get over to the Other Side to help Thaz. Like, bro just got sent one of his most loyal revaluationaries. Watch Brennan bring out the Spector party for out dead allies.

What if ... to parallel The Photarch faking a resurrection, Wicander is taken over by his latent celestial potential, and can ACTUALLY perform a real resurrection on Teor. Just a little bit of wishful thinking, their dynamic was my favourite. They were in love, I tell ya. At least Wicander kind of was. There are still tons of cool characters to tune in for, but it's not going to be as fun for me without those two.

One thing I really like about the Netflix DMC series — Unless they decide to make Nero DanLadys son, which honestly I wouldn't put it past them — is that since Dante is voiced by Johnny Young Bosch, it sort of implies that Virgil's son is gonna sound just like his brother and I dunno! I just think it's a nice thought.

After seeing some random freecam videos, I have noticed that a lot of Leon's facial animations are purposefully made frownier and more "stiff" in a way whenever the camera is actually on him

There are many moments where the camera cuts away from him and his face snaps back into what I'm assuming is the actual (or closer to) input of the facial motion capture from Nick

Let my boy show more emotions than just frowns!

I love how everyone learns Robert's real name first and his hero name second, while he learns everyone's hero name first and their real names second. It's like they're moving in opposite directions, and all it did was bring them closer, like walking towards one another.

Thinking a bout Tanselle Too Tall, who fled shortly after Dunk was arrested. She left his shield with Steely Pate, but she doesn't know the outcome of his trial. For all she knows, the shy boy from the tourney may have lost a hand and foot or died in a trial by combat because he stepped in to defend her. I really hope to see the two reunited someday. The sight of him may just absolve her of a terrible guilt, I imagine she's been carrying.

Ooo! Ooo! What if the DLC ends with Leon's side of the phone call with Grace at the end of Requiem? I imagine they'd probably pull something like this: Leon: I feel great. The Doctors still want to run a few more tests, but so far, there appear to be no negative side effects to Elpis.

Grace (o.s): And Sherry's okay?

Leon: Better than okay. She's back to work. They couldn't keep her down if they tried.

Grace (o.s): Oh, good, I'm so glad.

Leon: How's the little one?

Leon: Last I heard, she wouldn't stop talking about you. Grace (o.s): Yeah, I'm actually teaching her to read...

Leon: ...That's good to hear, my youngest actually just started-- Grace (o.s): --Leon, gotta go catch up soon. -hangs up- Leon: Grace? ...Huh, well, I'm sure it's nothing to get hung up about. And they leave us with that bombshell. No elaboration, just the implied existence of a couple of kids, and they never say with whom, just to drive everyone nuts.

And Leon's one-liner at the end is funny because Grace hung up on him, and he's not bothered, but it doubles as words spoken to the audience who absolutely would be hung up on the casual mention of his kids, like wait WHAT?!?! ... Was it ever truly funny if I had to explain my own joke? Writing quips is hard (╥﹏╥) ⁽ᴵ ʰᵒᵖᵉ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ ᵃʳᵉ ʰᶦᵈᵈᵉⁿ ˢᶦᵈᵉ ᵉᶠᶠᵉᶜᵗˢ ᵗᵒ ᴱˡᵖᶦˢ, ˢᵒ ʷᵉ ᶜᵃⁿ ᵍᵉᵗ ᵃ ᵇᵃᵈᵃˢˢ ʷᵃˡᵏᶦⁿᵍ ᵇᶦᵒʷᵉᵃᵖᵒⁿ, ᴸᵉᵒⁿ⁾ What?
