Tumblr’s Top 20 of 2020

If you’ve been following our weekly Fandometrics reports, this list should come as no surprise to you. Animal Crossing: New Horizons had a bigger year than anyone could have predicted: Tom Nook’s vacation package came when we all needed it most. There’s the stuff you’ll see on everyone’s Top Things of 2020 lists—BTS, Star Wars, the Coronavirus—but what we love most about Tumblr is the unexpected entries. wtFOCK released a socially distanced mini-season taking place over video calls and messages. Horror podcast The Magnus Archives entered its final season. Steven Universe ended, then came back as Futures, which also ended. Catradora went canon and became the highest-ranking wlw ship since Clexa. This is Tumblr’s Year in Review.

NO. FOOLS.

Zuko would be Kida. And Sokka would be Milo. Toph is Mole. 

iroh is jean valjean, imprisoned by his brother following his failure at the siege Ba Sing Se

the priest who shows jean valjean kindness would be either like... jeong jeong, to be an example of starting over with a new life after being disgraced by the fire nation, or pathik, the guru, to reiterate peace and show kindness to iroh (i’m leaning more towards pathik, personally)

zhao is javert, obsessed with catching iroh and bringing him back to ozai

zuko is naturally cosette

which makes ursa fantine

sokka is marius

the rest of the gaang makes up various members of the rebellion- either suki or jet would be enjolras, i’m not sure. aang would OBVIOUSLY be gavroche- sweet innocent kid who everyone loves and wants to protect??

yue would be eponine. this is a no brainer.

azula, mai, and ty lee would be very high ranking military personnel- they would be leading the battle at the barricade

ozai is basically all of the french government, screwing everything up for the citizens and treating them ruthlessly.

i’m not sure how to fit in zuko’s background to this, but i’m thinking that basically ozai burns zuko at a very young age for similar reasons or something different (to try to get zuko to firebend because he suspects he’s not a bender or something idk). when she confronts him, ursa learns that ozai also sent iroh to prison. she flees, taking zuko with her. when iroh is released, she seeks him out, keeping her identity a secret, as well as zuko, who she sends to live with arnook, his wife, and yue

ursa gets sick, really sick, and dies. in her last moments, she tells iroh the truth and sends him to find zuko

but zhao is there too, sent by ozai to retrieve the members of his family who have disgraced their family name

and basically the plot continues from there (following the musical rather than the book)

they would still have their bending abilities, but there wouldn’t be an avatar and there would be a lot less death (other than the necessary ones (fantine and eponine))
